There were no surprises with this soundbar. I own several Bose products and they have a broadly similar signature sound, so I knew what to expect - fairly bright treble, back end base, and a little low on the midtones. That isn’t a problem, it’s just how most Bose speakers sound. This soundbar does have some control over the tone, by way of a speech enhancement setting (which brightens the highs and does make speech clearer for those who may be hard of hearing). There is also a means of adjusting the bass by two clicks. If you find the bass adjustment doesn’t seem to be doing anything, then remember that after making your button press and waiting for the lights to flash for confirmation you’ll need to press ‘bass’ again to confirm your setting. If you find the bass adjustment doesn’t seem to be doing anything, then remember that after making your button press and waiting for the lights to flash for confirmation you’ll need to press ‘bass’ again to confirm your setting. There’s an online manual which actually explains everything, unlike the rather basic ‘guide’ which is in the box. Connecting it is as quick and easy as it gets. Whatever television you have, irrespective of age, you should be able to find a way to attach it - ideally via HDMI-ARC (if your television only has regular HDMI then it won’t work). Using HDMI-ARC will enable you to use your television’s remote control to change the volume setting on the soundbar. Failing that, your TV should have an optical port which is an excellent way of connecting to the soundbar, although you won’t gain the use of the TV remote control for your volume settings. Failing all of that, you can connect the sound bar to your television using an RC cable (into the auxiliary port on the soundbar and then the split end red to red and white to white on RC Out on your TV - bear in mind that if your television uses RC In, then this method won’t work). Your last resort would be to connect your speaker to the television using the headphone port and single auxiliary cable - the sound quality will be quite poor using this method and you’ll probably experience some audible background hiss or crackle, but you will be able to use the television remote control to adjust the volume. In all cases remember to switch your television speaker off (if there isn’t a facility to switch it off, make sure you turn it right down to 0) otherwise you’re likely to experience an echo effect if both the TV and the soundbar are emitting sounds. Many of the complaints in these reviews are likely due to user error or poor understanding. For anyone complaining that the soundbar automatically comes on when the television is switched on, refer to the more detailed online manual which explains how to switch that on and off. Although this is categorised as a budget soundbar, it’s still fairly expensive but it is good quality (if not necessarily spectacular). Remember that a sound bar on its own is not going to give you the kind of immersive sound you’ll get with the soundbar boosted by a sub woofer and/or satellite speakers. However this is a good product and one I would recommend. The QVC price was also the best I could find and the easy pay facility is extremely helpful.

Very good - the sound is great and the base is very good. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because the remote and speaker don’t provide info on whether base is on or off - I can tell from listening yet it’s not always obvious. Another great feature is I can play Alexa through it. It’s not obvious - the Alexa box listens to my requests and the output comes from the speaker. Thus is great as I was going to upgrade ($$$) to a new speaker instead of this initially because of this feature not being available on TV speaker. Thankfully the price difference was quite large and so I decided against the upgrade. It proved a good choice. If you’re a music buff perhaps an upgrade is better as I’m sure the quality of sound regardless of volume is maintained without it ... MoreVery good - the sound is great and the base is very good. The service at JB HI FI never disappoints. More importantly the after service is not found anywhere else - it stays the same as if you’re a new customer. They are always consistently helpful, informative and interested in the customer’s need. They don’t try to upsell nor do they tell you they have what you’re buying. I always feel like I’m speaking with someone who will help even if I want to buy the cheapest thing. Every time I’ve come back after I’ve bought something to ask a question, they’re just as friendly and helpful.

Ill start this buy saying this is a fantastic sound bar and worked as it should for about 2-months. Then all of the sudden the left speaker and center tweeter blew?! I was watching TV in dialogue mode at a really low volume at like 2AM and noticed a drastic difference in sound clarity because it wasnt there? It was still better than my Vizio TV speakers but something wasnt working. While only a stereo soundbar its so good that you notice if something isnt working. Bose uses every speaker in a unique way that even though it sounds better than default TV its nothing like youre used to. Upon closer inspection you can hear that the left speaker/Center tweeter wasnt working to balance the sound and provide that full bass and clarity. I had to call Bose and they agreed to ... I had to call Bose and they agreed to replace the speaker because its within the one year warranty. However Beware. because they didnt have to do that!!! Seller is not an authorized dealer thats why he has no returns!!! Bose said they will send out a new unit in about two weeks so I will update then and edit rating if need be. Im in my early 40s and I dont like loud obnoxious sound when watching movies/TV so it wasnt me cranking this thing at all. Never went above level-25 on my Vizio. Now for the review I got this for my bedroom because Vizio V-Series 50 TV has the worst factory speakers out of any TV Ive owned in 40yrs of life. The Bose TV Speaker is just a stereo soundbar so its not designed for surround sound at all. I dont need or want body rockin bass watching TV, but this certainly gives very good punchy well balanced bass making gunshots sound realistic without distorting mids/highs. If you want more bass you can turn it up it has 5-levels and the default (what I kept it on) is on level-3. Turning it up to 4 makes things much more punchy but still balanced and level 5 even more so, but always maintaining balanced sound clarity. The best part is the DIALOGUE MODE!!! Push the button and it makes everything crystal clear even at the lowest of volumes to me thats worth the price as I dont have to watch everything with subtitles on all the time anymore. This isnt for the latest Atmos/DTS etc sound profiles but its something that youll appreciate (and miss) when watching TV. Sound quality is just so full and clear that makes watching anything better and if your television has an HDMI ARC/E-ARC port you can use your television remote to control the volume and it turns on/off with your TV. Had to set lip sync on Level 9 on my TV but rarely had sync issues after I figured that out. Bottom line is its a great soundbar for people that maybe dont feel they need/want a soundbar do to its dialogue mode itself. I just hope its not a reoccurring manufacturing issue with the Bose TV SPEAKER itself because for the money and Bose known quality this should last 5-10yrs easy!!!

I got this for Christmas as my Bose Soundbar 300 died after 2 or 3 years of normal use. I took the 300 apart, checked everything, nothing appeared to be burned out, tested the power supply, tried every YouTube resetting video, it just wouldn't turn on. Even though everything appeared fine, it was completely dead. I got the new TV speaker for Christmas, noticed that Bose no longer has a power supply, the 120 volt cord plugs directly into the speaker now. Leads me to believe they had problems with the 300, or are saving money now with this new configuration. The sound was great.....for a week. Then, it just died, wouldn't turn on. I boxed it up, took it back to Bestbuy and bought a Sonos. I've had the Sonos for over a month now, sounds great, better app than Bose, I was easily able to pair it with my Rogers Remote control, works like a charm. I've always been a fan of Bose products but, I'm done with them, their quality has gone downhill. Perhaps you'll buy one of these TV speakers and have years of enjoyment with it. Twice bitten and I'm out.
I have a Bose lifestyle setup I've had for years. Amazing sound quality. Wanted more clear sound on two other TV's in the house. Wasn't sure if the vocals would truly be clear and tone down the sound effects in the background of movies and shows.. This little speaker absolutely has vocal clarity and actually has some good bass. If your looking for clarity and quality sound for an entry price you can't beat this speaker. If your looking for floor shaking bass and clarity I would suggest looking at a higher priced speaker and bass module. For the money this little speaker delivers. Excellent price at 199.00 for the holidays!! Do wish it came with mounting brackets. Had to purchase the brackets separately. Does have pre mounts for the Bose Wall Bracket and easy to ... If running any optical cable or HDMI through the wall to hide any cables and your just placing it on a flat surface under tv,,, then you will need longer HDMI or optical cable to have sufficient length and hide all cables. I would definitely recommend this speaker!!!
I've been a massive fan of Bose sound systems. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience with this one. - I had to return this speaker twice. - First time I had it for 2 weeks and it just kept turning off and switching to the tv speakers, picked up the controller and whatever button I pressed it would not turn back on or sync back to the TV. - Tried using different HDMI cables, used the optical wire and still does not work. I thought I just had a bad batch so I gave it another shot and exchanged it for the same one and unfortunately, it was the same results but this time worst. It would disconnect the sound back and forth from the tv speakers. When it did work, it worked for 10 mins before it shut down again and it had a loud pitch noise that came out of nowhere ... Sad to say I wasted so much time just figuring out what is wrong with it. But theres not much reviews on this model online and now I understand why. The troubleshoot that is available from Bose is nothing but vague, basically - "have you tried turning it off and turning it on again" Not to mention, sound bars do get warm, but this one gets scalding hot that it could burn you. I had to move my hand away. Sorry Bose, love your products but you took an "L" on this one. I had to return it again and opted for another brand.
I recently purchased the Bose TV Speaker and have been extremely impressed with its performance. The sound quality is top-notch, with clear, rich audio that really brings movies and TV shows to life. I also appreciate the compact size of the speaker, which makes it easy to fit into any room without taking up too much space. One of the standout features of the Bose TV Speaker is its ability to automatically adjust the volume based on the ambient noise in the room. This is particularly useful when there are sudden loud noises during a movie or TV show, as the speaker will automatically adjust to ensure that the audio stays at a comfortable level. I usually don't write reviews but am offering this one as I could find very little insight into my own search for a soundbar that works with a turntable. I was skeptical that this little soundbar would do the job for me but it really exceeded my expectations. Going into this purchase I was looking to drastically simplify and minimize my audio setup. After years of lugging around a component system and never really using it to its capacity I wanted simple and minimal. A soundbar was appealing but it needed to handle both my flatscreen Roku TV and a record player. This immediately cut down the soundbars available as most did not have any aux ports. My internet research showed that the Bose TV Speaker was highly recommended for a turntable. The only thing I wasn't ... The only thing I wasn't crazy about this was that it could not be expanded to full surround sound with satellite speakers, only a bass module. I also felt some shame going with a bottom of the line soundbar (even though it is a Bose) withy my turntable. What would my vinyl collecting friends think of me?? I talked with a Best Buy associate in-store (who seemed unsure about how exactly to connect a record player) and I decided to test a work around with a RCA to HDMI adapter for my turntable and the Bose 600 soundbar, which could be expanded to full surround. Unfortunately this did not work! Reluctantly I unboxed the Bose TV Speaker, plugged in my RCA to 3.5mm adapter to the Aux port and it worked like a charm. And it sounds really good, even without the bass module. I even compared it with my old component system and it sounded better. And it works great for TV audio too - deep low end and clear speaking. Worked seamlessly with the Roku TV interface and I like that I can control all of it with My RokuTV remote. Also good for bluetooth audio from my phone. In the end I am very pleased with this as it has drastically cleaned up my AV equipment and meets my listening needs. As I said, exceeded my expectations and reinforced Bose audio quality. I'll also note that Best Buy accepted the return on the 600 and adapter no questions asked.
The audio is probably the best I've tried in it's price class, which is why I've decided to keep it (for now) despite some annoying issues. I bought, returned/exchanged this unit twice in 2 days only to determine that the problem appears to be a compatibility issue between the Bose unit and my TCL TV (bought from Best Buy several months earlier). After actually spending hours on the phone with both manufacturer's tech support the conclusion is my problem is the eARC HDMI handshake on power up. Despite proper setup/installation the Bose unit will not be recognized by the TCL TV until the Bose is powered off and back on again. As a tech in a different industry I know the technological finger pointing that can ensue where each manufacturer blames the other. The bottom ... Despite proper setup/installation the Bose unit will not be recognized by the TCL TV until the Bose is powered off and back on again. As a tech in a different industry I know the technological finger pointing that can ensue where each manufacturer blames the other. The bottom line is the TCL fired right up and worked flawlessly with a 9 year old Samsung soundbar set up through eARC. So the end result is that the Bose and TCL seem to play nice for now after a second power cycle by the Bose. The manual is lacking some info, specifically the function of Auto Detect by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds until tones are heard. I see no reference to the descending tones indicating the function is off/ascending on. There are no controls on the unit itself. All functions are performed by a conspicuously budget looking remote, which makes me wonder what the recourse is if it fails. I find the toggle between normal and dialogue mode creates some pyscho-acoustic dilemmas. The latter is louder and more mid/upper mid-range focused which makes it easier to listen to say, the news. But sometimes it also seems to benefit music streamed via bluetooth. This isn't a flaw as much as it is simply an oddity. The remote has a bass button that you can either boost or cut, but no other EQ control. Fine unit overall, just wish it operated the way it's supposed to with my TCL TV.
I would give this unit 5 stars, except for the lack of LEDs on the front panel to monitor the status of the soundbar (read below). The sound is excellent for what I'm using it for. I didn't want to run a bunch of wire and hang satellite speakers for my 5.1 rear L-R speakers, so I'm using this soundbar for my rear L-R channels. It sits under the TV and incredibly fills in the gap between the front L-R main speakers. The dispersion is excellent -- exactly what Bose is famous for. (NOTE: This unit is amplified, so do not shoot hot amplified audio from your amp's speaker outputs unless you can pad it down! My Onkyo surround tuner lets me set each output as low as -14dB, which is perfect for not over-driving the input of the Bose.) I use the analogue AUX input jack to ... I use the analogue AUX input jack to feed in the speaker-out signal from the amp. The "dialogue" setting really does clarify speech in shows & movies where there is a lot of background EFX or music going on. Mids & highs are crystal clear -- no sibilance. Now, about those cheesy LED's... This unit only has 2 LED's on the front to let you know what mode you're in, etc. The LED's change color, blink in various ways, stay solid, etc., for each function. I had to download the complete manual and keep the page for the LED Mode Table handy to keep track of what I was setting up. For $279, Dr. Bose should have added a few more (inexpensive) LED's to the front panel. This was a real design flaw. Simplicity is fine if it doesn't make things complicated. Lastly, when in auto power-down mode, it takes about 2 hours to power off when there is no signal present -- kinda silly. 10 minutes makes more sense. I do not use this unit with any outboard sub-woofer, as my Boston Acoustic mains give all the thump we need. If you are using this (as intended) strictly for a TV speaker, you may want to add a small sub-woofer. You can easily connect one with a patch cord, via the 1/8" sub-out jack on the back. The price of this unit is way too much, but I paid it because it's Bose and it was the best sounding bar in this size range with an analogue input.
