I've been avoiding modernizing my pedal board for some time. I'm glad I've decided to go with the boss gt-1000 core. It has so much to offer with, plenty of presets and functions that make it easier to clean up you sound and pedalboard. One thing I will recommend for users who are new to digital pedals is to read the manual. It can get a little overwhelming with all the functions it has, but the manual has all the answers.

This product is very user friendly 6 months ago I said I only know 25% of what the Boss Gt-1000 core can do that has changed to 70%. when you learn how to load patches or do a system update to 3.2 you really get to understand how much more this machine can do is very remarkable. I am referring to boss tone central section where you can add to the 250 patches slots for the user section from the 250 presets that it comes with ... still not enough 500 sounds at your disposable or the ones you make yourself. The boss GT- 1000 core is worth every penny I paid for it and more from my pedal setup I have the GT-1000 core on the end for the expression pedal to connect. I sometimes play for hours like 4 hours yesterday on the 4th of July even after dinner playing again ... MoreThis product is very user friendly 6 months ago I said I only know 25% of what the Boss Gt-1000 core can do that has changed to 70%. when you learn how to load patches or do a system update to 3.2 you really get to understand how much more this machine can do is very remarkable. My niece she is playing every day, so my brother is telling me that was another good investment getting her that for Christmas to use with her bass and Stratocaster guitars.

It lacks the Bluetooth of the bigger gt1000, and the flashy screen of the new Gx-100, but makes up for it in utter flexibility and portability. I added a WiDi Jack to add Bluetooth back in and now can tune the signal chain from my phone or iPad with no extra cables. It also makes me not wish for the touch screen of the Gx.In summary, with patience this is the only pedal you should ever need; epic sounds scapes, ear curling distortion or studio recording? Best compact multi-effect I've heard
17 November 2022

I originally tried the Headrush portable effects unit, and although it was simple to use, the sounds were not as close to the original petals as I was hoping for. I then switched to the HX stop, and although it had great amp emulations, again, most of the pedals did not sound that close to the originals to my ears.Upon switching to the GT 1000 core, the user interface was not as simple, but the tones were by far the closest to the original pedals that I had found. I do not use it for the amp emulations much, although those sound good too. But where this pedal shines for me is saving space on my pedalboard, by being all of the modulation pedals that I could ever want in one box, and they sound very close to the original pedals to my ears.I use it for the Boss ... MoreI originally tried the Headrush portable effects unit, and although it was simple to use, the sounds were not as close to the original petals as I was hoping for. For all of those it is fantastic and sounds much closer to the originals than the others I tried did.It does have a slightly bigger learning curve to get everything set as compared to some of the others out there, but once you have it dialed in it is super simple to switch back-and-forth. And tone wise it is by far the best for me.

Boss GT 1000 Core

Overall:After purchasing - and being mostly disappointed with - modelers from other brands I was hesitant to spend the considerable sum on the GT 1000 core. But after extensive review of specs and sounds on Youtube and a good deal from zZounds I went for it. I purchased it solely for the presets because my past ventures into programming haven't been good. I haven't gotten through all of them yet but unlike all the other units I've tried that have only a very few actually useful preset patches, the GT-1000 has a considerable number of them, going straight into my studio console, flat EQ, no additional processing or effects. The verdict so far: I don't think I'll ever again have to use a microphone to record most guitar parts. Additionally, Boss has kept the noise levels surprisingly down on the hard overdriven patches, also unlike the other units I've mentioned. The only drawback I've found - and it isn't major - is that there is a dearth of straightforward Fender clean sounds without effects. I'm sure there's a way in the internal programming to deal with that but I haven't found it necessary yet. The effects are pristine - very well done. All-in-all, worth the money.

Not nearly worth the price

For all the things you CAN do with this pedal (if you're already a pedal techno-geek, or once you spend an inordinate amount of time trying to make sense of this thing), the things you most WANT to do, like manage the contents of the sets you create, or easily move things around, or even getting the darn thing up and running out-of-the-box (which I had to be on the phone with a support person to accomplish), are hair-pullingly complex, if not impossible. There are comically few amp models to choose from (when compared to pedals costing a quarter of the price). Even switching from one tone to the next is hampered by the fact that each one takes at least a few seconds to fully load, so good luck using this on the fly in a live setting. If you intend to use this for anything other than home recording, it is not nearly worth the cost, when there are more than a few pedals out there that cost far less, perform far better, are way more intuitive, and don't make you want to scream when you try to do the simplest things.

Review of Boss GT-1000CORE Guitar Effects Processor Pedal

Only been using the GT Core for a few weeks but the sounds are very good. Took a little bit of a learning curve to get there but the pre and post EQ's really fine tune your sound. You can produce great cleans which most modellers can do, it is the overdrives that are the difficult ones, Boss do these really well in the GT Core, great drive sounds. I use mine in to my DAW and for silent practice. Thumbs up to Boss.

Solid All-In-One or Processor
25 August 2021

I'd like to start this review off by saying the stock presets in this unit are good, & I can't say that of every preamp/processor out there; very useable. I do withthiswas a 19" rack unit, but I just bought a sliding shelf for it. I like how you can add pedals to the signal chain; very intuitive. This makes a great mobile rig or recording solution. 32-bit effects are a nice improvement from 24-bit. Solid choice for anyone looking for an all-around solution or to supercharge their effects section of a setup.
