What a brilliant product!! Very well made, strong metal casing, would easily stand up to the punishment that a gig involves.Fairly easy to operate, especially for a technophobe like myself. There are literally hundreds of patches that can be downloaded fron Boss's Tone Studio. As an example, I was looking for a patch that sounds like Thin Lizzy, and low and behold, it's there!!! Scott Gorman eat you heart out!! Now that Boss have released the ME90, the price for the ME80 is just going to get better.Basically, it's like having all of the Boss effects in one place, right under you feet.Buy it!!!

I am a lifelong user of tube amps...simply because of the tone and elasticity they provide. Digital and solid-state amps have always drastically fallen short in providing that "feel". This unit is the closest I've found to reproducing the "feel" of a quality tube amp. HOWEVER, there's a trick that's easy to overlook that completely changes the game. It may be in the instructions, but who reads those?? LOL!I got this unit to plug directly into a mixer so I don't have to lug around my amp. I plugged it in through the left(mono) jack and selected the tweed amp simulation. It sounded extremely dull...even worse than a typical solid state amp. BUT THEN, I watched a video on YouTube that explained it. But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall??I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! Till I get to warm up for Bruno Mars(not happening soon lol),My main Boss rig is staying home, and that goes to my crybaby and the Budda volume pedal with all them patch cables entourage.

This thing is fantastic! Right out of the box it delivered great sound. Programming in what I wanted was very easy. The new CTRL feature is a bit of a learning curve, but it didn't take long. The free Boss Tone something software works good, even though it is slightly slow, and has excellent free patches with high quality demo audio. I use mine in church and it works great. I appreciate being able to use the computer software to edit patch settings using numbers, too. Using a mouse interface to twiddle with a round knob inside software is just silly. Don't get me wrong, the Boss software includes this if you prefer it, but I generally don't use it. And I was able to take the great sounding patches others have provided and tailor them to my own environment. My only ... MoreThis thing is fantastic! Right out of the box it delivered great sound. My only complaints are how big it is (need a 25 key keyboard pack to carry it), and the use of 1/8" output for REC/AUX OUT. But they're minor, and I was able to work around them. Just be careful with how much AMP sim you use: the volume gets too loud really quick at LEVELs above 40. Some might like that. I'm almost indifferent. But it's worth noting that the old Boss mentality of "50 = no change in volume" from the ME-70 and before, that's sort of gone out the window. So adjust your stuff to taste while listening to it. Playing this while it's connected to an amp AND a laptop works great, and you can edit patches real time, meaning you don't have to keep bending over.

First the good: the pedal itself is sturdily built, with whole bunch of high-quality footswtiches, plus an assortment of dials and buttons for you to physically tweak parameters on the variety of effects on offer. When in "manual" mode, you have SEVEN footswitches available to toggle effects on and off, plus an expression pedal. Egg in your beer? No - but this pedal can be powered by any 9-volt adapter or by 6 AA batteries, whiich makes it perfect for sidewalk buskers or jams in the park (assuming you also have a battery-powered amp, of course). The bad news is that all of the effects and most of the "pre-amps" (what Boss calls their amp models) are based on Boss or Roland gear, so, if you're going to buy this pedal, you'd better be a Boss devotee. Also, the tape echo model has a maximum 500-millisecond delay, which I don't like at all. Nor is that effect anywhere near as failthful to the tonal characteristics of the Maestro Echoplex II I loved so well in the 19980's and 90's as is even the Digitech RP-1000 - or the Zoom G1onX, for that matter. Nor are most of the ME-80's effects of modern studio quality (although they're probably fine for most bar or small club gigs). And, although Boss includes a set of batteries with the pedal, you'll have to buy a 9-volt AC power supply separately. I bought it to give myself more flexibility for switching effects on and off than my Zoom G1Xon (which can also be battery-powered) gives me in jamming or performing al fresco, where there're no AC outlets available. It's very nice for that. Oh, and while it's been hard to find a new ME-80 at less than the $299 "street price," with the holidays coming up, look for significant discounts from all the big online retailers as Black Friday sales start kicking in ...

It's so simple to use, and once you find sounds you like you can save them and program them into memory mode and just press the pedals to switch to your presets. The metal construction makes this feel very high quality. Even if you don't get frustrated programming modern petals (like I do), it's so nice to be able to tweak your sound on command. Before you buy this, I'd recommend watching one of the many in-depth videos on YouTube that demo this to see what you're getting. It's not your average pedal. I like to have all the dials and options on display - I get flummoxed when everything is hidden within multiple screens and long chains of sub-options. The presets are pretty decent and making banks of your own combinations is easy. Obviously some dedicated effects pedals give you more control or more unique sounds but there is so much to play with here I found it quick to get inspired to get writing riffs and licks. The thing is so solid it’s a joy to use. Plug it in, no need to worry about the best order of your pedals or have wires all over and you’re ready to get experimental. The Boss ME 80 changed that about three weeks ago.I used it with my Strat one weekend and with of all things, a Steinberger Spirit (headless) the next weekend.People were showing up from blocks away trying to find "the live band" and were surprised to find a single guitar doing all that. I have reached that point I've been trying to reach for all those years. This system is way more than just some pedal effects!!! This system is completely programable or can be used totally manually. Pre-Amp, EQ, Distortion, Overdrive, Corus, Delay, looper, Expression pedal and so much more!!! This system is completely programable or can be used totally manually. Pre-Amp, EQ, Distortion, Overdrive, Corus, Delay, looper, Expression pedal and so much more!!! The price to purchase all these pedals separately is far more than the cost of this system and here you have it all in one. No pedal board, 10 patch cables (each adding noise!) and separate power supplies or dead batteries. One note, it is battery driven or you can buy a PS separately. Because this is also programable, with the touch of one switch you can switch between any group of effects and settings and there are 36 preset programs and 36 completely customizable programs.
