I appreciate that Boulder offers chips that aren’t fried in safflower oil, canola oil or sunflower oil, as those oils are high in omega 6’s and more inflammatory. I prefer to eat chips cooked with coconut oil, avocado oil, or olive oil. These are higher in omega 3’s which are anti-inflammatory. — Boulder has chips cooked in olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil. Of the 3, I prefer the avocado oil and the olive oil. I typically buy the chips cooked in avocado oil as you get significantly more for you money than you do for the price of a bag of those cooked in olive oil. I appreciate that they are non GMO, but wish that they were also organic. Not enough to doc stars though… they’re made in Boulder, CO, which, in and of itself, speaks to the quality of the product.

These are my new favourite chips. I was so bummed when I switched to an anti-inflammatory dirty for health issues and my options for food became so limited. These are cooked in Avocado oil and this is perfect for me. Doesn’t hurt my tummy and the taste is even better than regular chips! I buy these often and don’t like sharing them ;)

I purchased 14 bags of chips from Utz. They were delivered on time. The box of chips was inside gray plastic bag. There was no notice on it showing fragile items. Once I opened bag I saw chip bags loose in packaging. The box itself was torn on bottom which caused bags to escape. There were 4 bags opened and the rest were mostly damaged. Upon opening them chips were crumbled. There were only a few whole chips in the bag.

Excellent chips
3 February 2024

I was happy to find a natural sour cream and onion chip that was ridged. These were delicious everything I look for in a sour cream and onion chip, very reminiscent to my favorite brands growing up that are no longer available. Someone very thoughtlessly packed these at the bottom of my box topped with very heavy things and they STILL help up. So they are sturdy, tasty and much better for you than the big brands. I only wish I could find these in stores so I didn't have to special order them. I also wish I could get these in party size. Serve these at your next party and they'll be a hit.

Great replacement potato chip
4 January 2023

Given the crazy price increases on snacks lately, I decided to give these a shot as they're a bit cheaper per oz. than other popular kettle brands. There's also the added benefit of eating a healthier oil vs. the corn/canola/sunflower oil blend most use.I really like the taste on these chips. I'd say they're similar in taste to a normal kettle fried chip, but with a touch more flavor from the oil. It's rich without tasting like avocado. The salt felt like the right amount. I personally prefer a chip that is not oversalted, and these were great.I'm also a sucker for the crinkle cut, and this is the only brand I've seen that does it with kettle chips.100% recommend these, even if you just want to try them out once. Just wish they had some more flavors to pick from!

Healthier potato chip

Dont listen to the 1 Star reviews. Obviously you're here because you want a healthier chip without inflammatory oils.Look no further. Buy them and enjoy. Sodium content is low, which is also healthier for you.Great for dipping and great with sandwiches. Buy and enjoy without all the bloating and swelling that comes from most all other potato chips.

Not as good as the coconut sea salt variety.
23 August 2016

Last month, I tried Boulder’s coconut sea salt potato chips and they blew me away. They rank as one of the best, if not the best potato chips I’ve ever tried. So this month, I’m in Hawaii and it seemed appropriate to try the Pineapple Habanero variety that I just came across. The ingredients are more complex than the sea salt (16 in pineapple habanero compared to 3 in the sea salt).I’ve tried quite a few potato chips lately and have to say, these are potentially the best potato chips I’ve ever tasted! Just three ingredients: potatoes, coconut oil, sea salt. One ounce (14 chips) provides 30% of your saturated fat RDA (see pic below for nutrition info), so I’d avoid eating too many at once. But I actually find them so tasty that I tend to eat fewer at a time – I ... MoreLast month, I tried Boulder’s coconut sea salt potato chips and they blew me away. But I actually find them so tasty that I tend to eat fewer at a time – I think the coconut oil makes them more satiating. The medium chain saturated fatty acids in coconut oil are also attracting a lot of attention health-wise – they may have health benefits over conventional potato chips.Overall I’ll give Boulder Canyon Coconut Oil Potato Chips 5/5 gold stars for quality of the product and 4/5 “green” stars based on the social-environmental aspects of producing it (see below).Organic coconut oil has a significantly lower environmental impact than soy or corn oil grown in the US. Potatoes are generally a pretty sustainable crop depending on how they are grown – it’s a pity though that these are not organically grown. Boulder Canyon offset all of their energy with Renewable Energy Credits. The cardboard they use for packaging is certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. They are also pretty active in taking part in river cleanups. I just wish they would bring back their compostable bags!

Tasteless and grainy
24 February 2023

Very disappointed in these potato chips. I am not picky about potato chips because I love eating them! But this brand and flavor (basic) was bland and had a grainy consistency. Also, there were several big clumps of either potato skin (or maybe dirt??) which was disgusting.I thought it might have been a fluke, so I bought another bag of the same flavor and one of a different flavor. No bitter clumps of dirt but potato chips were just as tasteless and grainy/gritty.

Really not impressed. Packaging is impressive, however the contents disappointed me. So many chips with green edges, some with black burnt edges, and an overall taste that was not at all that pleasant, especially given the premium price I paid. There are much better premium chips out there!

Yuck 🤮 bring back coconut oil chips

All the way from AustraliaI was told at the store that Boulder were no longer doing coconut oil chip. I fail to understand why when in Australia you were lucky to find a packet. Constantly sold out. I did a quick google on the smoke point of avocado oil. Because if the smoke point of an oil isn’t high enough deep frying with it damages the oil structure. Then eating stuff fried in vegetable oil can actually cause damage to your body. Coconut oil having the highest smoke point of all pant derived oils is the safest vegetable oil to consume. Any way I assessed the situation and though to myself they could probably get the potato chips crispy without damaging the oil structure of the avocado oil.
