However, if you wear glasses, or have really big hair, you may not get as good a seal, and thus not as good a sound as I get with my bald head and glasses off. I have found that the bass and mid-bass details and overall cohesion suffers if I am wearing my glasses, due to the air leak around the glasses. But here is the rub, because the isobaric sealing is so important to the design of these cans, the fit can feel a bit tight on some peoples heads, and that might be distracting. In my experience, the headphones need a little time to break in, both for best sound, and to have the head band loosen up a bit. I intentionally stretch the band out a bit upon eachwearing, it seems to have helped. Will these headphones change your life? Are they the best you can buy? Of course not. The Worlds best headphones cost $800... ,$1000.... , $3000.....as much as you want to spend. Bowers and Wilkins sells their best headphones for $900. And there has to be a compromise in sound/experience as you go down from the top end of their product line. Which is why the P7 retails at $350. In summary, the Bowers/Wilkins P7 is a very nice sounding set of headphones, with few compromises at the retail price of $350. They are however an exceptionally good deal when purchased used for $160 off of eBay if you can deal with the way they fit on your particular head.

Very good once settled but Ive had better comfort from for example AKG 550 mk iis. In all Id recommend these to someone looking for a high quality finish, superior sound quality in a stylish presentation. There are some good competitors out there so its one of a few really great headphone options.

Very good, but consider wireless P7
11 July 2017

You are not going to go wrong with either the wired or wireless P7s. I ultimately decided on the wireless version with better drivers in the earpieces and the ability to go wireless if needed. I am using these as a part of my home theater/stereo system and not for mobile devices like iphone, etc. The are identical in design which is stellar. Anyone whose ever had to "hold" their headphones closer to get more of a full sound or bass need not worry. These fit very comfortably and very snugly around your ears. My only real gripe on either is that the cord supplied is only 4 feet. B&W sells a 16 foot replacement cord (which I purchased) for under $20 and I love having the freedom to walk around while listening. No headphones will ever sound like tower speakers or a 5.1 system with dedicated subwoofer, but I find myself (especially late in the evening) very immersed while listening to LPs. They handle both digital and analog and analog sounds great. At the price point, these hold their own against headphones costing much more.. a real sleeper amongst other name brands. I compared against Bose and Grado (not $4000 Grado) :-) and the B&Ws excelled to my listening. Be aware that these are closed back headphones which means if someone is trying to get your attention, you're likely not going to hear them.. which sometimes can be a good thing! :-)

For wireless headphones, these are likely the best you'll find that are a good build quality with above average sound quality. They're a tad bass heavy so the mids can at times become muddy and instrument seperation becomes non-existent. It's the same issue the Momentums suffer from. The highs can also become harsh. The soundstage is virtually nonexistent but I did find it maybe slightly wider that the Momentums. What the P7's really have going for it is the controls. While the B&O H8's and H9's sound better, they're controls are finicky and not as straightforward. But I am a stickler for sound quality. While they're wired and not wireless. There is nothing that beats the B&O H6 gen2's for sound quality in a closed back headphone with a beautifully balanced sound ... MoreFor wireless headphones, these are likely the best you'll find that are a good build quality with above average sound quality. These are a great set of cans with excellent battery life and deep low-end response. I consistently wear them all day at work, and they are very comfortable; The soft leather on the ear cups and the headband add a very nice feel. I especially like that you can use the included headphone cable in the event that the battery dies. To use the cable, you have to pull off the left earpiece and plug the cable into the integrated port. The left earpeice is held magnetically and pops off with a little force (its anchored very securely). The passive noise canceling is surprisingly good and probably helped by the extra low end. All in all, these are great and well worth the money in my book. They're definitely have better sound than the Beats by Dre, but some Bose headphones might have better noise canceling (at the cost of lower battery life) if that's of utmost importance to you. I haven't heard Bose headphones in a while, but I'd say these offer comparable, if not better sound. If having extra bass isn't your cup of tea, you may want to avoid these. It's not excessive, but you definitely feel it more with these than the average headphones.

Honestly the best pair of headphones you can buy that are relatively affordable. B&W's attention to detail and incredible sound-quality are unmatched by any other consumer headphone.Right out of the box, you can pair them with multiple devices (I think you can pair up to 7?). I'm able to switch easily between my iPhone and my laptop just by the push of a button. It is seamless. I haven't experienced any connection interruption as of yet. The bass is strong but not overbearing, and trebles and vocals are incredibly clear and detailed. They reveal subtleties I haven't noticed before in my music.I do feel that the build and sound quality of these headphones justifies the price. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

[Rewarded Review] Nearly flawless
5 April 2017

If you're going to spend $400 on headphones, spend it on these. The construction is excellent, the leather is high quality, and the cup sizes are perfect. As for the sound, it is what you would expect from B&W. Flawless and crisp, no heavy bass or muddy mids, simply really good sound. I have a very eclectic music collection, and I have yet to find a style that does not sound good through them. If I were going to get picky, there are two issues I have; one, I would be concerned with length of life on the hinges and sliding mechanisms as each time you use the case (which is very nice by the way) you must compact the phones down entirely, so if you are doing this daily, that is quite a bit of wear and tear. I personally leave them out most of the time, and only case them if I am taking them to the office and it is raining. Two, the Bluetooth connection does not stay long. If you pause a track or film for maybe only a minute, it will disconnect. I would prefer having them stay connected for a longer period of time, say maybe ten minutes. The batteries can handle that. On a final note, if using an iPhone (probably everything else as well), make sure to turn the EQ off or set to 'Flat'. The phones sound much better using the natural levels set in production.

Listening to music is a very big part of my life and because of that, I like to have above average or high quality components to listen to it. I've had a pair of RHA T20i ear buds that deliver great sound but I can never get them to sit in my ears comfortably for hours at a time. I decided to go with over ear headphones and a friend recommended these. I've had them now for about 6 weeks and they are simply splendid. They are physically well-made, comfortable and they deliver such a smooth sound with well balanced frequencies; great bass that delivers while not going overboard, perfectly controlled and tamed mids and crystal clear highs. Lastly, I know this is somewhat of a cliche to say with good sound, but I truly discover new layers in songs I know really well - some to the point where I turn around because I hear something that I assume is external because it's so foreign to me. I couldn't recommend these more. I normally do not spend this much on headphones but these are very much worth it.

I just want to preface this review with the fact that I have always been a firm believer that the only way to get a quality sound was through a wired connection. I previously had the wired version of the P7's and still have an open back pair of Grado RS2E's for at home listening. All that aside, these headphones are absolutely amazing. I've been listening for several hours now and I can barely tell these are even on my head. The plush leather memory foam ear pads are incredibly comfortably and the headband cushions any weight. When compared to their previous wired versions, the bass isn't nearly as heavy so it doesn't ever overwhelm like the older version had a tendency to do.These are hands down the best close-backed headphones I have ever owned and they're BLUETOOTH which is just shocking. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone looking for serious sound without sacrificing mobility.
