Love this! I looked forever for a dish rack that was low profile yet held dishes in a way that they'd dry faster than anything completely flat. This being because it sits next to the sink on the island. Didn't want anything sticking up too far and got tired of trying to balance dishes on a drying mat. Highly worth the cost and recommended!!

I ordered this in Dark Grey and was pleasantly surprised. The color is close enough to black to look great on the new black granite counter top of my redesigned kitchen. I'm not sure how well it will drain into the sink but I have some observations that may be helpful. First it is sturdily built. Second, unlike the other dish racks I saw, particularly on the Prime site, this one doesn't have a bunch of gimmicky add-ons, like wine glass racks, double stacking tiers, etc. Before I purchased this one I tried some of those and they were flimsy, poorly manufactured, and more poorly designed with elements that didn't fit properly. It may only be a dish rack, but it will be visible all the time. Might as well have one that is attractive as well as functional. I haven't been able to test the rack portion for plates yet, so fingers crossed. But this is the best thing out there that I was able to find. And you'll see these at high end kitchen retailers for a much higher price. Hope that helps.

I bought this as a replacement for our hard-to-clean old metal rack. Got it home and found that it sat up very high and looked rather adrift. It took our bid dinner plates, but when we tried a side plate it was as well we kept a tight grip on it. Then we saw the split rubber pipes that one can fit round the bars to make the gaps narrower to grip small plates. This struck me as a faff - having to change the the configuration to suit each load of washing up - and an accident waiting to happen; worse, I thought that the flexible pipes would just be something else to keep clean. Very disappointed, so returned to JL and took a successful punt on a brand I had never heard of. Disappointing. I bought it online because there weren’t any available in store. Very limited choice and this seemed to be the best available option. I had to insert a screw to stop the cutlery container tipping over. The next rack wouldn’t take my dinner plates but I can fit them in the end rack but this wasn’t initially obvious. Too small to take the items that I would normally put there. Not too much to be positive about.
This looks smart and durable but really doesn't work for us. Space is very limited so it would only suit a small household. The dish slots are too far apart, even when using the rubber covers supplied, so narrow items fall through them. There is nowhere for drips to drain through so you end up with a puddle on the lower level. Unless you need the fold-away feature it offers, I wouldn't recommend it.
I think this drainer manages to blend both style and function really well. It's got really clean lines and the combination of grey and metal looks really smart. Practically, the fact that you can remove the cutlery holder makes it really easy when you come to clear the rack and put things away. Having the base and the rack gives you a good amount of space and I like that you can use the base on its own for larger items. The fact that it folds and can be put away means that it's ideal if you're short on worktop space. The only minor downside is that, unlike the larger brabantia draining rack, it doesn't have a lip that enable the water to run into the sink - although that might be a positive if you don't have space next to your sink.
This replaced a standard one level metal wire drying rack, that we used to dry plastic items that came out of the dishwasher that needed airing. The plate rack comes with protective covers which are a good feature if you are concerned about damaging the pattern on your precious dinner service. The drying rack comes with a drip tray, however the tray doesn't have any holes for the water to drain away and the grooves are not deep enough, therefore water pools in the bottom. The drip tray would be ideal for anyone that doesn't have a draining board on their work surface. Although anything placed on the bottom could be left sitting in standing water and not dry effectively.
This Brabantia folding disk rack and tray is a really sturdy bit of kit. It feels well made and high quality, and I am not surprised Brabantia are happy to provide a 5 year guarantee to go with it.I was most impressed by how easy it is to setup and how well it folds away again once you no longer need it.It can hold 13 plates and a fair amount of cutlery in the attachable cutlery basket - about 15-20 of our cutlery pieces, depending on what you've used.We have quite a small kitchen, so while the foldable aspect is brilliant - and the footprint of the rack/tray is fairly minimal (37 x 33 cm) - I was not quite prepared for the amount of height needed to use the rack. It's not so much the rack itself, which is 31.5cm high, it's lifting plates in and out of it ... MoreThis Brabantia folding disk rack and tray is a really sturdy bit of kit. It's not so much the rack itself, which is 31.5cm high, it's lifting plates in and out of it which is the issue if you have cupboards over your worktop. Our cupboards are 46cm above the worktop and that just fit the rack underneath once our dinner plates had been loaded. You probably need about 60cm free space above your kitchen counter to easily load and unload the plates without moving the rack.Otherwise, I can't fault the item itself.
Bought this after trying the Joseph and Joseph extending drainer which was large and clunky. By comparison this looks really sleek and great in the kitchen, however as other reviewers have attested - larger / deeper plates just fall over no matter how you try and place them in. We have some cheap shallow plates which stay in but our deeper denby ones just fall - we were lucky not to have one smash. A real shame as other than the plkate issue, this seems very good quality, but only 3 stars as it can't fulfil its core purpose.
We're happy with our new dish rack from Brabantia. The slope is really effective, no water on the worktops, it seems to be very sturdy and high quality and our large plates stand up well (I did note other reviewers have had issues with this, not a problem for us). The ideal situation would be a modular design where the cutlery tray could be moved about with the dishrack for ultimate flexibility, but this is a very small issue. It's not the largest tray, so if we didn't have the dishwasher, I would want a larger or more flexible tray, but I did manage to load quite a lot on it yesterday and everything felt very secure. It certainly looks good, and I think there is substance as well as style.
