Have owned 2 of these little gems for about 3 years now and can’t recommend enough, in particular to those that like me, have tiny kitchens and no floor/cupboard space for bins. I hung mine on the wall next to the sink, one for food waste another for recycling. They are sturdy, easy to clean and carry. Unlike some others on the market they don’t require expensive deodorant/ odour absorbing filters, just close the lid and hey presto! Great design that fits into any kitchen - stylish instead of “biny” look. Visitors comment on how they don’t realise they are waste bins despite the fact that they are very much on show on my wall. I wash them daily and even after 3 years they have no scratches, blemishes or discolourations still look like they just came out of the box. ... MoreHave owned 2 of these little gems for about 3 years now and can’t recommend enough, in particular to those that like me, have tiny kitchens and no floor/cupboard space for bins. Previously used the council issued food waste caddy but despite it having the option of using the handle to lock, nasty smells still escaped and there was no way to tuck the provided bags over the side, meaning the bag would often fall down inside the caddy along with food waste and it was difficult to empty. This brabantia one does not lock but it is better in every other respect, the lid dips in slightly so no nasty smells and the council food waste bags fit this much better than the council caddy. The lid is also fully removeable on this one and can be used to hold the bag in place. I used the included bracket to attach this to the inside of my kitchen sink cupboard, this caddy sticks out a fair way so you need to make sure it is installed so it goes under the ... MorePreviously used the council issued food waste caddy but despite it having the option of using the handle to lock, nasty smells still escaped and there was no way to tuck the provided bags over the side, meaning the bag would often fall down inside the caddy along with food waste and it was difficult to empty. We can't recycle colored glass at our summer home but we have friends who live elsewhere who can. We collect that glass to give to them when we see each other which could be 2 or 3 weeks. During that time, we go through a lot of bottles and jars! The concept of this container was perfect to sit on the patio without looking like a recycling bin. However, it's way too small to handle the amount of glass we accumulate. I'll probably buy another one to accommodate the overflow. I would have rated it a well deserved 5 if it had been larger. Everything else about it top notch!

Has a quality build and looks stylish. Great size for holding a full food waste bag. Handy handle to carry and ability to fix to the wall if you want the surfaces free. What more could you ask for? Great product!
I love my Brabantia compost bin so much that I ordered this one for a friend as a house warming gift. They are neat and unobtrusive on the kitchen counter, easy to empty and clean and very tough. Having compostable bin liners that fit and are easy to tie up and dispose of is also a bonus - this keeps mess and odours to a minimum.
I bought the 1.6 gallon in Mint Blue to use as a countertop compost bin. If it was 2 inches taller it would be perfect for me (because of something I regularly compost that's taller), but it's so darn close to perfect other than that I still give it an enthusiastic 5 stars!I have never found a countertop compost bin I really liked until now. I use bags that are larger than what is needed (because I buy them at a great price in bulk somewhere) but they still work--you can push the excess bag down to the bottom and still hide the bag edges because of the ample "lip" I guess you'd call it, around the edge when you put the top on.It sits next to the sink so water gets splashed on and under it frequently, it's easy to clean up both inside and out but has really stayed ... MoreI bought the 1.6 gallon in Mint Blue to use as a countertop compost bin. The lid is super easy to flip open and closed, and it stays back out of the way when open, it's lightweight but stays closed and I have had zero problem with smells. There's enough room for me to throw things in when I'm prepping to cook w/o getting stuff everywhere. I was wary of getting the light color as well but I've had it for months now and it's really stayed clean. I'm really thinking of buying another one just in case these ever disappear because any other counter compost bin will disappoint me after this one.
I needed a small caddy for kitchen veg scraps destined for the garden compost heap. I chose the small bin to cut down on smells and this fits the bill. The colour would not have been my first choice but it has grown on me. The bin came with some bags which I use and then empty/throw away as I don't think they are as compostable as they claim, not in a garden heap anyway. The bin is very easy to keep clean and fresh as there are no awkward nocks and crannies which you sometimes find with these bins. All in all I would definitely recommend this bin.
So far I've bought 2 of the small gray ones with the compostable bags. They are very stylish and a discreet way to hide the trash. I use one in my vehicle for my recyclable cans and trash which I then sort and dispose of at home, reusing the bag many times. It keeps the interior of the car very neat. I use the other outside on the patio for peanut shells, emptying ash trays, all sorts of small trash. It cleans up easily in the sink. I want more!
I use this for food waste so I don't have to have the larger bin that the council provides indoors. The lid detaches for easy cleaning, it can be wall or cupboard door mounted with the included fixings. the handle doesn't get in the way. Works well with multiple types of biodegradable food waste bags - I use paper ones from Waitrose usually.
Bought this to replace a council-issued food caddy, which sat on the kitchen worktop. I fitted this one to the wall, which makes cleaning the worktop much easier. I also bought 2 larger wall-hung bins (see separate reviews)... so they complement each other nicely. Nothing to go wrong, and so versatile (in that it can easily be removed from its backplate for taking outside, if required)… and the lid stays upright when filling. I’m very pleased with it.
