No electric shaver is as close as a razor in my experience, no matter what claims are made but the Series 8 is as close as decimals of a millimetre to the closeness of a razor.It is quicker than wet shaving, easy to use because it pivots to the contours of your face.It is the quickest shave I have ever had.It is easy to clean, I don't think the automatic cleaning option is needed.After shaving for three weeks the battery indicator still shows five bars.I can't think of anything else I want from a shaver.

I have very coarse hair and needed to use Wilkinson Sword German made blades before buying an electric razor. Now on blood thinning medication and need to use electric razor. Before this razor I used a Series 5 and the cartridge heads lasted me 10 weeks. Purchased this razor 12 months ago and keep dipping in warm sink water while shaving and so far cartridge head is just under 12 months old.

Shaves very well. Does a great job.One downside is that the shaver cannot operate directly from 240 V power. Can only run from its battery. Once the battery finally dies from old age I assume that the saver is then useless! This seems to be built-in obsolescence!

Very disappointed overall. They advertise fast, efficient, close shave. This was not the case for me. I tried multiple combinations (dry, water, cream) without too much success. With cream was probably the best, but I found myself going over the same spot over and over again to cut the hair. And I found myself going to the manual shave to finish things off. For this price point surely it has to be better. Looks stylish, but effectiveness, well below par.
Firstly note - I was able to obtain this on the Black Friday sale. So, the price vs product was well worth purchasing. This shipped very quickly and received within a few days to my surprise. So that was the great purchase to delivery experience.The item was sealed in box and worked as described. It's fantastic and have had no issues currently. The only small thing I wished it came with was shaving blade lubricant, even a tiny bottle for when I need to reapply for maintenance.However dry shaving has been fantastic for this. Advice; don't leave your hair too long though as it will start to pull. If your not a frequent shaver maybe the step up to Series 9 may be the way to go. But for shaving every 3-4 days, this is great and have had no pulling.
Very happy with my new Braun shaver but found it really strange that apparently I am unable to purchase the cleaning kit for the shaver . I was told at the store they need to be purchased as a combo . Makes no sense ??
Great shaver, high quailty shave that surpasses previous electric shavers, owned. The quality of the shaver, saves time in the mornings.The only thing that that comes close to the quality of this Braun Shaver was the quality of customer service from the Shaver Shop, outstanding service
This shaver is a litttle dissappointing.It misses many hairs, doesn't do a close shave, and doesn't get quite close enough to the facial hairs near the ears.
I went from a Braun Series 5 to this Series 8. The improvement in performance is outstanding. The Series 5 was junk and couldn't deal with a 2 day growth. Hopefully this one lasts as my last two (Series 9 then Series 5) have failed due to water ingress causing corrosion on a circuit board causing the unit to continually cut out (I wet shave). It's a known issue and my expensive Series 9 was only just out of warranty and Braun Australia refused to help.
Powerful motor, shaves in half the time of my 25 year old Braun. Smooth result with no skin irritation. Especially pleased due to sale price.
