I have never used an epilator before, so I was pretty terrified honestly. I will say that the directions and all of the different pieces were a little baffling at first. I finally figured out which head was recommended for me as a beginner. I used it the first time in the shower and YES it was definitely painful as is to be expected! After a few passes my body's natural pain killers kicked in and it wasnt so bad. By the time I moved on to my other leg, I was actually kind of enjoying it LOL. One tip I learned was not to move too fast if you are using the first speed setting.. just slow down.Also, for the first time you will most likely miss some hairs. If you have a higher pain tolerance, you will be fine.. if not, maybe just have some drinks and do a little at a time.My only other request would be that they include a bag to keep all of the parts and pieces together, but otherwise I will be using it all the time and I love it!

I had a very old braun epilator that had lasted me about 25 years. It finally gave up working so had to purchase a new one. This silk-epil 5-810 is fantastic, the epilator worked with even quite short hair (I had had to shave after the old stopped working and hair growing back after a shave is awful compared to after an epilate!!!), the extras that came with it are also fantastic, the bikini shaver is awesome, doesnt hurt and also no itchy after a day or two like you do with a normal shaver. Love the fact that it also can be used wet or dry and I dont have to be near a powerpoint, love this!

So many improvements. I've used these machines for 15 + years and best improvement is how much easier and completely it can be cleaned, pre shave to shorten hair too long, better information on use and care, battery, etc...Very good and even though I don't use it in the shower, water proof is a very nice improvement.
