It's a lovely piece of design. Also it heats water. It's transparent, so you might be thinking: Do I really want to be able to see all the horrific scale inside my kettle? But you should be descaling your kettle anyway, you slacker. It'll work better and last longer if you do. It needs care; it's not some houseplant that you can ignore and then get another when it dies. On a related note, don't pour boiling water on your houseplants. From this kettle or any other. But this is a great kettle.

It's much quieter than my old kambrook kettle and hopefully it won't leak (like my old kambrook kettle).Only lost one star because the ON/OFF button is a bit small for me. I'd prefer a larger paddle (like my old kambrook kettle). It finds it's place on it's base very easily due to the slightly conical shape of the base. My old kettle's base was flatter so I had to fumble around when placing the kettle back onto it's base until it was perfectly in centre but this kettle is much easier to place onto it's base.It also pours nicely so I can control the flow rate easily.9/10 would recommend

Brought to replace exactly the same kettle just an older version, which was brilliant. This one doesn’t boil as long and the water doesn’t seem as hot. (yes I know, water boils at 100 degrees) much heavier than my old model, the lid doesn’t open enough to fill, need to manually lift lid higher so the tap can actually fill the kettle, the handle not as easy to hold. Just disappointed in the whole product and it’s not a cheap kettle. I wish I went with the canstar recommend product.

This kettle is exactly as described: Elegant glass kettle with soft open lid.2400 Watt heating means faster boiling as you watch through thermal shock resistant glass.7 cup capacity jug and soft open lid make the entire process simple and easy.We wanted to avoid replacing our old kettle with a similar one with the window display for the water level on each side of the kettle. The window display of the old kettle was the weak point - water leaked from a crack in the window. Admittedly, we had that kettle for a number of years and used it daily. We are pleased with the look of the Breville all glass kettle and confident we will not encounter the same problem.
Overall not too bad but could easily be made much better. How hard would be to put that switch on top of the handle instead of hiding it in the base? Pouring is also somewhat problematic because the spout is to small! Finally why most of the kettles are about 1.7L in capacity? Is there anything wrong with 2 or 2.5 L? I understand that we ned to save energy but it is easy to see how muc water is in it and for us the capacity is too small -we use big cups. I do not have that model for long but hope that the bottom seal is made of silicone rubber and not some cheap srap that will soon leak:-)
Good, solid and nice enough-looking kettle. Heavier than my old plastic one. The lid takes a bit of extra pressure on the button to open. Also it's slow to open when hot. Easy to return to its stand (some previous kettles have been fiddly to get into place). A little noisy when getting started but not for long. I was surprised that the plate inside began to discolour after only 3-4 weeks. But I still give it 5 stsrs because it boils water fast which is what I got it for.
We bought this to replace an old Breville clear kettle we've had for years. The last kettle was great so why change a good thing? This one is a bit taller so it's centre of gravity it different. This one also doesn't have a metal mesh filter, instead, it had holes that need you to pour with a bit more speed to make sure the water doesn't disperse wider than you'd want. We have gotten used to that change quickly. We do prefer the old kettle pouring design better. Overall, very happy.
Almost ditto of Ian W's review. I had a glass domed-shaped Breville kettle for at least 10 years, in constant use, and eventually the thermostat failed.-I agree with Ian that maybe the name "Crystal Clear" is inaccurate, it does leave condensation, but it doesn't bother me.-I also agree with Ian regarding the half handle, the balance of the pour, and its stylish design.-Another reviewer didn't like the clear top but my older model had a black plastic lid - it got so old that there was a calcium build-up, or possibly deterioration of the plastic, underneath the lid... so I prefer the clear top of the newer model. Though it's still plastic so I hope it lasts.-Someone else complained about the press button to open the lid, mine is fine... not sure if the other ... MoreAlmost ditto of Ian W's review. Perhaps in the future, the thermostat could be programmed to shut off a little earlier and save a little energy at the same time.I'm not a big consumer and I like things to last, so I'm assuming I'll get another 10 plus years service out of this one.
I have been very happy with Breville products before but find there are two main issues with this kettle.1. It fogs up all of the time so there is always condensation on the glass. I have never seen this on other glass kettles.2. The worst thing is that the spout is badly designed. There is always residual water in it, so every time you pour it a dribble of water comes out first.A third issue, which is my own fault, was that I assumed it would have a light in it but it doesn't. I should have checked! As it was twice the price of similar kettles, I am very disappointed.
i liked the idea of a clear glass electric kettle, as it has quite a few advantages, but had found the clear glass kettles much more expensive In The past! That was until I found the Breville "Crystal Clear Electric Kettle" at a good value price and that is when I decided to up grade to one.Advantages are, much quieter operation, much clearer visibility of water level with cup volume markings, much easier to keep clean inside and outside!! Plus I knew that I could rely on the "Breville High Standard of Quality!! Top quality from Breville!
