I absolutely love this Juicer! I had a masticating juicer prior to this, it was slow and often clogged when juicing which made the process much longer. This juicer is spectacular!! I process beets, carrots, apples, and ginger in minutes! The large feed tube sets this apart, can process whole fruits and vegetables instantly. As for the waste, beets, carrots, and apples, are reduced to a sawdust consistency as expected, more watery fruits, oranges, pineapples etc. are more wet, as to be expected because these fruits consist mostly of water. I've used this machine everyday since I've received it, great buy!! Do yourself a favor, watch the America's Test Kitchen review on it's proper use, read the manual, and sit back and enjoy some delicious Juice!! Well Done Breville!!

I've used several different juicers in a lab setting (I'm a food scientist). A lot of reviews on here are complaining about this juicer having too much waste / froth. That's typical of centrifugal juicers, and this juicer is a bit of a hybrid centrifugal juicer. The way the blade structure and mesh works on this you get a bit of the best of both worlds. The blade on here will generate less friction than a lot of standard juicers and definitely less than a blender, but it still does not have the same juicing properties as a masticating grinder (aka slow juicer or cold press juicer). Those juicers are ideal if you want the least amount of waste, no foam, etc. They use a physical augur (like a corkscrew) to crush the product to create the juice. The thing to keep in mind is those tend to be bulkier, much slower, more expensive, and you can't just put a ton of stuff in at once like you can with this juicer.So far I think this is a nice in-between, and I definitely like it more than some of the traditional centrifugal juicers I've used. It's super easy to clean too just rinsing 3 parts in a sink which I like. If you are having trouble juicing stuff like hardy leafy greens like kale I'd suggest you cut them and mix them with a small amount of water or other juice when you add them to the mixer.I do think they could be a bit better with naming this device though. The "Cold" in the name implies that it acts like a normal cold press juicer when it really is more of a hybrid centrifugal juicer. I think it's slightly misleading to people that have 0 experience with juicers and is probably why there are a bunch of negative reviews.I'm taking one star off because of the misleading name, but otherwise it's a good juicer. However do not buy it if you are specifically looking for a "Cold press" or "Masticating" juicer.

Our juicer functionally is top-notch, no complaints. However there is one small cosmetic flaw that we found: in the plastic filter bowl surround (which is also referred to as the juice collector) there is an edge within the bowl that is not polished. It feels rough to the touch as though it is broken or cracked, which is not the case, it's just unfinished. Anyway this discolored after a few uses and the discoloration cannot be removed. We called to complain about this, and were told that since the juicer is still functional, this is not covered under the warranty. After expressing our serious disappointment with this, the agent we spoke to agreed to replace the part as a goodwill gesture.
