It takes a bit more time and attention than a machine with pods, but the process is calming, the coffee is transcendent, and it feels like a mini-vacation with every cup. We absolutely love it.

The amount of control allows you to produce foam that is almost like whip cream at one end of the settings or injected with plenty of micro bubbles on the the other end for a latte. Set it, push a button and thanks to the dual boiler done at the same time as your espresso. It's a real kick to then see it self clean after your milk is steamed.I just happen to like my espresso very hot (205) and milk heated to (170) and this machine is just Johnny on the spot. Amazing! There is however, one caveat. If you do some research online for problems associated with this machine you may see references to problems that begin after doing the menu driven descale cycle. Breville advocates opening and closing the brew and steam boilers several times during the recommended cycle and for some this has been a disaster. The work around as discussed with Technical support is to leave these alone and purge through the steam wand, porta filter and hot water dispenser after the machine has drawn in descaling solution and soaked for 30 minutes. This has worked very well for me!

Consistent, easy and a joy!

After 8 years our Breville Infuser died. It was a sad day. But we had such a great experience with that machine that we knew another Breville would replace it. After many nights reading reviews and watching YouTube vids, we were convinced to get the Oracle Touch. After a few so-so coffees while dialing in the right grind and temp settings, every coffee since has been perfection. The machine wakes up every morning by itself, ready to make our flatties. I was sceptical that the automatic steamer would do as good a job as a manual wand, but it is great. Another bonus of how easy this machine is to use is that our 9yr old daughter is now perfectly capable of making a fantastic cuppa and bringing it to us in bed on a lazy Saturday :)Highly recommend this machine!

Great machine!

I got this machine about a month ago and I love it! At first it seems like it could be a little intimidating. However, once you get used to it, it’s really easy to make a great espresso, cappuccino, etc. The milk wand works great too. It’s easy to adjust the temperature and froth level to get the creamy micro foam needed for a perfect cappuccino. There are a few steps you need to take after each coffee session for preventative maintenance to be sure the machine stays in great condition, but it only takes a few minutes and it’s worth it considering this machine is an investment. If you’re the type of person that buys coffee every day, this machine will pay for itself before you know it. The machine is a crowd pleaser. It’s very easy and to make cappuccinos for four people, for example. The machine makes easy work of it. Also, the blue color of this machine is beautiful. In the right light it almost has a metallic look while maintaining a matte finish. It adds a really nice color to your kitchen without being too “loud”. The pictures I included don’t do it justice. I highly recommend the machine if it’s within your budget.

This is my 3rd Breville espresso machine in a raw, one replacing each one with exactly the same issue. They all are just perfect when they work as they supposed to do, we were just in love with them. My first one started to have problems just a few moths after the two years. Not on warranty anymore after two years. I descale every time the machine asked for it. I would say 4 times in total. The machine started to trip the breaker in the kitchen. I did a search on line and it seems to be something that happens with this model quite often. I decided the first time to paid the reparation fee and sent it back. I got and upgrade (oracle touch) because my model wasn’t available anymore (oracle). I started to descale every 4 months and everything went fine until a year and a few months, again the machine started to trip the breaker in the kitchen. I called back and after going back and forth,I told them that I don’t understand how I’m going to pay more than 2000 for a coffee machine that is going to last less than 2 years. I got a replacement again, and they suggested to descale every two months which I did consistently. My machine started to Tripp the breaker again after 8 months! This can’t be a coincidence! I’m super diligent changing the water, and servicing the machine. I think there is a problem with the boilers and the descaling process that leads the machine to leak inside. I can actually hear the steam coming from the machine after I turn it off. I don’t have more answers from customer service and they do no want to replace the machine anymore; living me with no solution; other than to buy a new machine.I think because is a design problem this problem needs to have a resolution. The model should be discontinued until it is proven fit for use and people with the same issue should be reimbursed. This is what any company that cares about customer service and wants to sell quality products is expected to do.

Makes great coffee but requires A LOT of maintenance

I have had my Oracle now for 3 years. It makes delicious coffee and is very customizable with regards to how you like your coffee. However, if you have no desire to learn how to work on these machines then I recommend getting something else because once the warranty is out you may find yourself paying ALOT more money to fix this machine. Specifically the orings on the boilers go bad frequently causing leaks and excess moisture. This causes the touchscreen to act weird and eventually burn up the circuit board that is on the underside of the lid. I have taught myself how to do these repairs because Breville won’t do much once the warranty is out. The solenoids also tend to get gummed up and you have to remove those and clean them. Finding parts is extremely difficult so when you do I recommend ordering 2. I have followed the care guide religiously so it’s not a care thing. These o-rings and solenoids just go bad. In all, for a $3000 machine, I shouldn’t have to become a repair man. Makes great coffee, just beware.

Is it worth the extra 2k from the model below without the touchscreen? I'm still deciding.PROS:- touch screen for easy drink type selection- grinding and tamping all done by machine in one stepCONS:- very loud- water tank in the rear of machine is very annoying to have to refill, because i have to remove the drip tray, twist the dial, roll the machine out of its position, it strains the electrical cord, and then push it back. On the side of the machine would have been so much better.- tamping function is poor - its never smooth, and often grinds spray outside the portafilter- if frothing the milk manually, you can only do it with the wand in the up position, and so can only lift the milk cup away from the wand while it's up. as soon as you go back to ... MoreIs it worth the extra 2k from the model below without the touchscreen? On the side of the machine would have been so much better.- tamping function is poor - its never smooth, and often grinds spray outside the portafilter- if frothing the milk manually, you can only do it with the wand in the up position, and so can only lift the milk cup away from the wand while it's up. as soon as you go back to the down position it purges automatically. the purge should be at least delayed a few seconds.- also, because of the way the wand works, every time you remove a cup from it, it inevitably drips ON THE COUNTER, NOT the drip tray. so it's messy, also very annoying.- the ding of the bell when a step is done is too quiet, you can't hear it, wish it was louder- because of the low-ish profile of the machine, we had to buy special YETIs that would fit under the tap. If I want a big drink for on the road, say 4-6 shots, I have to brew into one cup then pour that into another one. I get the need for the lower profile, but hey, that's my use case. I buy ventis at starbucks.Part of the reason we invested in this machine is for an elderly family member who can't handle all the options of the non-touch screen. However, the insertion of the porta filter in the grinder, and then the pour, is not intuitive and it's been difficult for them, which makes us wonder if we should just return the machine and get the cheaper, more manual version. On the brew tap, you have to "figure out" that the porta filter needs to start on the left and be twisted to the right (its marked on the grind step). And the resistance on the brewer, I have found that the machine will actually slip a bit sometimes on the counter, so you have to hold it while putting the porta filter into place. I understand some people will balk at my review, but hey, accessible design - too often I watch my family member get excluded because design isn't accessible. So, this stuff is important to me.Basically paid an extra 2 grand for the machine to tamp and it doesn't even do that well.Breville support so far has been a huge disappointment - I bought direct from them specifically to deal direct with the manufacturer - but I can never get through on the phone, the chat agent is permanently offline (yes during business hours). For example, for whatever reason on the breville website when i tried to purchase the darker stainless color, i couldnt bundle the extended protection product with it - it just didnt show up. I tried numerous times to get through to support - by phone, and submitting a ticket, and NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME. Then they just closed the ticket some days later. So i ended up buying the color we didn't want, because that was the only way I could select the extended protection product.More recently when i got a call back on an issue, the person on the call was a little salty and there was all this yelling and background noise - maybe work from home? It was so distracting that she actually had to ask me to repeat myself multiple times - I am not a quiet talker haha. And she couldn't confidently answer my question, I had to ask her like three different ways before she sort of gave me an answer - that still I don't know if it's correct - will I get the barista pack?? Still waiting. Just hope I get the barista gift pack that was advertised - you actually have to register your product before they mail it out - this was a gift, which made that whole step just a ridiculous amount of extra effort. Who decided that? SMH.I spent thousands of dollars on your product - all in all I just expected more.

Probably still the best in its class, but
20 March 2023

Out of the Breville lineup, it is probably the best offering. It took me a few days and a couple of pounds of beans to get the shot right. I had to re-adjust the grinder at the top and set it to the finest setting (1). This way, I grind between 26 and 34 with the on-screen settings. Still, the grinder remains inconsistent. The first shot after the warm-up is always ground finer and, therefore, runs slower/produces less coffee. Making a few shots in a row produces a coarser grind on each run. I read about it before buying the machine, so it wasn't a surprise. I'd prefer a separate grinder, retaining all other features more or less. I'll probably still buy a separate grinder to work around the inconsistency. The number of drink choices creates an impression of an automated workflow, but it is a bit gimmicky. I use only espresso and cappuccino settings and tweak them if needed. I wish I could delete the rest of the pre-sets, as they just get in the way. Also, I had to buy a separate portafilter basket as the two provided didn't yield the desired result. The large one results in about 24g of ground coffee, and the small one in about 10g. I bought an intermediate one which gives me 16g. With it, I managed to get the shot to the best results, and this way, I had some fantastic shots when I was lucky to catch the grinder at the right setting for the specific bean. Running another shot right after the first one never reproduced the experience. On this note, I had to adjust the tamper to get to a lower quantity of coffee. The basket rated at 15 g was filled to 18g. I lowered the tamper to get to 16g. I cannot reduce it any further. Tamping is great. Running the shots through a bottomless portafilter (yes, I bought one from Breville) didn’t show any channeling. So, it works just fine. I tamp using a manual tamper anyway, but it is more of a ritual than a necessity. The overall design is well thought through, and it looks pleasing. Havings said that it is not built like a tank. I dropped my tamper once, and it made a dent in the cladding of the bottom tray.On the other hand, the milk frother is great. Again, I read about it before buying the machine, so it wasn't a surprise. But it truly works great and is easy to use. I made a few manual attempts a found it not worth the hassle. The auto works flawlessly, so I couldn't beat it in quality. To sum it up, I would still buy the same machine if I were to choose one after I know everything I know about it. But I hope that Breville reads reviews and will take notice of what is being said to improve their product further.
