My last dispenser gave 5 years good service before the switch failed . The VKT111 lasted a month before the filler tube came loose halving output and producing nasty noisy airlocked underheated drinks .Headsup to BREVILLEYOUOWEME and at least 6 others reporting this potential safety fault over 2 years . Breville chose to ignore this presumably to save money

Same as a lot of other people, it worked for a few months then suddenly just dispensed a small amount of water.Very disappointed as it is a very nice design. We had only replaced our old one, a VKJ784, which we've had for about 5 years and it still works perfectly, because the paint on the top by the buttons was a little scratched and it started to look tatty. We have just been and got another VKJ784 to replace it - it doesn't look anywhere near as nice, but at least we know they are reliable!

This is such a great dispenser. I use it many times a day. I don't fill with a jug, as i'd probably end up pouring it all over the place, so I use a strong ergonomical 1.5 litre plastic water bottle that I refill from the cold tap. I then just fill it when it gets to the bottom, with no fear of overfilling. It holds more water than the previous model, so I fill it less often. I found the dial very useful for making instant gravy in a small jug, once I'd mastered the right amount! My only negative with this dispenser, is that the drip tray is just that, for drips, so if I ever forget to put the mug underneath, I have a lot of water to clear up. So to avoid this, I usually put a clean mug in place as soon as I've made the last one.

The Breville Hotcup should have a place in everyone's kitchen. I and my family love this model. It holds a good amount of fresh water and is very quiet when operating. I watched many varied reviews, mostly on youtube which suggested the machine was ok, but I intend doing a review myself suggesting it's more than OK. Easily adjust the amount of boiling water with the rotating knob /start button on top for different cup/mug sizes with an auto stop when the correct level is achieved. The manual stop button is useful to override the automatic stop feature when you are not sure of the amount of water you need. The adjustable height spill tray is very useful too. Really impressed with this, as originally I thought it was going to be one of those things that keeps the water hot constantly and costs a fortune to run. Quite the contrary, it boils enough for a quick cuppa in a matter of seconds. The only negative I will highlight is the fine tuning for cup size on the dial is nonsense. There's a difference between small and large, certainly. But from 50% to 100% there is no difference in the volume of water that goes in to the cup.Still, really impressed and love the speed in which you can a good hot cuppa!
I love it, it has a huge water tank but only boils what’s needed. I compared usage from my kettle & this on my smart meter and the difference is astonishing. It’s very quiet and being able to adjust the cup size makes it way worth going for this model over the first one that much better. I bought the first one as a gift for my mum and this is by far the better option. The only downside is if making multiple hot drinks it needs boiling per cup so a standard kettle would be quicker in the case but not on energy usage. For the price this is a really decent it of kit and well worth the money.
I was looking to try and save energy in the current climate. So I purchased the Breville hot cup with variable cup control. Only had the unit for just over a week, but would give it 10 out of 10 so far. Its compact design means it takes up no more room than a traditional kettle. It’s really quick and easy to use. Very easy to fill I use a filter water jug so just top up the water using this. We use quite big mugs but we still seem to get more cups out of this machine than from my old kettle. I also think because it self pours into your cup my brew tastes a lot fresher. My husband loves it too. Also if you need a little extra hot water you can add it and manually stop the water by pressing the stop button simple. A perfect addition to the kitchen.
I could not wait long enough on Waitlist for this so I bought exactly the same one from elsewhere, having been considering such a purchase for some time. The advantages of this unit have made my standard impressive kettle redundant. I have a variety of sized cups and mugs and being able to adjust for water output to suit any sized vessel is a massive bonus. Tea, fruit teas, green tea - all are fine with the water hot enough. However, personally, I find that it is better to add a small amount of cold water to your cup if making instant coffee before dispensing hot water as it is just that little bit too hot for instant coffee. - You should never use very hot water to make coffee as it kills the coffee flavour. You can hear it boiling just the same as a kettle, but it is not overly noisy. I have used mine every day and so far have not had to empty out any water as it has not been necessary. I use a jug to keep adding fresh water. If you have not used the dispenser for more than a day then all you need do, according to the instructions, is to 'flush through' by dispensing and discarding at least the whole contents of the vessel. I would never attempt to empty out the water daily at the kitchen sink - I would only empty it if it were not going to be used for more than a day, say you were going away for a couple of days. The STOP button comes in useful if you find you have not enough water in your mug - simply turn to the smallest cup size, press start, and then put your finger on the stop button and press when just before it has dispensed enough for your needs - I say just before because if you leave it too late your cup/mug will overflow and the drip tray is not big enough to take more than a couple of tablespoons, if that.
Bought this to replace an Aldi version which had finally failed after many years use.Only bought as no other similar brands were available. It's absolutely terrible. Never get the same amount of water twice and the settings bear no relation to the amount dispensed. Get less water from Max setting than from middle setting. This is going back to Argos.Should have known better than to buy breville as all previous purchases of this brand has had something wrong with it.
Oh wow i just love this. I am disabled used to use a kettle and put water in a flask for the rest of day but was hard work. I treated myself to the Breville for my birthday. i just cant get over how easy it is to use, and barely uses any electricity. its SIMPLE. WATER in and then cup under and away you go in 1 minute. its mindblowing. I have been wanting one for ever but they were out of stock for ages. 11 STARS for me.
