Given as present to 5 year old boy. He loved the steaming effect and has played with it a lot. It seems strong and has withstood less gentle care from his younger brothers.

We bought this for our son's train set and he really loved it. The steam that comes out makes it very realistic. Perhaps it would have been nice if it was not made out of plastic and for the price, it could have made a train like sound.

This little steam train is for my grandson for Christmas. It sells out so quickly I bought it now to avoid searching for it leading up to Christmas. It's a brilliant idea where the steam comes out of the train when moving. It is well made but does run on batteries. The steam works with a little water and the steam is cold and evaporates quickly. As with all John Lewis deliveries it was quivk and well packaged.

I bought this for our 2 year old train crazy granddaughter who plays with her Dad's Brio set from the '80s. We realised that at 2 she would need supervision. The first (longer) button press to get it 'primed' is a tad annoying. I can never get it right straight away. Once it's primed she can manage to stop/start/reverse it. The cool steam is delightful along with the lights. It will climb the (Brio) bridges/ramps we have but only forward. It doesn't fit through the Brio tunnel which is disappointing. If it went through the tunnel and climbed the slopes backwards I would give it 5 stars. A tad pricey but she really enjoys it. It's a popular toy when she visits us.
So pleased to be able to buy this as an Xmas gift from John Lewis (after an email alert) as most retailers out of stock. 3 year old grandson was enthralled - we initially thought the movement and steam might frighten him as previously only had push-along trains. Batteries (a shame these are not supplied) are lasting well but will use rechargable ones in future. Rather expensive but worth it for the Xmas joy it brought.
I purchased this Brio train for my grandson and it did not work, it seems to contain a factory defect. When the batteries are inserted the train doesn't even move, we tried several different brand names of batteries only to have the same result , it doesn't work. I returned it tot he store and received a store credit. I then ordered another one online. when it arrived we faced the same problem. several people tried to get it to work including the store personnel and they finally concluded that it was a factory defect yet again. My grandson is extremely upset and so am I. I have been purchasing Brio products for the past 35 years and I have never had an issue until now.
Very intriguing train. Good steam output and speed. Quite powerful and it can pull 10+ carriages. You have to hold the button down to start, which little ones have to adjust to. Excellent strong movable magnet which helps carriages stick togetherEasy for 2.5yr to use but it drinks batteries . Duracell lasted 2 days with constant use. Consider rechargeable batteries if you have a little train enthusiast. The battery compartment is a bit fiddly. You also only need two drops of water in the reservoir or it will overflow.Train also does not drive well on flat surface without tracks due to Back wheel brake system. Other Battery Brio trains allow brakes to be taken offIt is a good solid train but could be improved
For how expensive it is, I was expecting it to be metal, not plastic. It’s a very cool idea, but for kids that can be a tad rough I think it could be made in something more durable. It does well pulling a few extra train cars, but does tend to fall over around turns if you don’t watch it. The “steam” seems to last a fair amount of time without having to refill it, and it keeps my toddler interested.
This little steaming train kept great nephew and great uncle amused for hours. It keeps producing cold 'steam' for a long time and runs beautifully. I would totally recommend it.
Such a fun addition to our train set. We always love the Brio brand quality. Very nice. Thank you for the quick delivery
