With this jug you will always have a glass of fresh water to hand at home or in the office. The jug will reduce plastic consumption by eliminating the need to buy bottled water. The 1.4 litre bottle meets the needs of the whole family, so you can fill 5-6 glasses at a time. Thanks to the Maxtra Flow Control filter system, you can remove substances that affect the taste and odour of the water. Total capacity - 2.4 litres, electronic cartridge consumption indicator, width to fit most fridge doors, sturdy housing with lid. Fresh water is always to hand As recommended by the World Health Organisation, a person should drink 2-3 litres of water a day. To make this task easier, it is worth ensuring that the water is easily accessible and tasteless and odourless. It is not necessary to buy bottled water to meet this challenge. It is sufficient to have a filter jug at home with which you can drink tap water. Longer life for kettles and coffee machines Limescale deposits are a common cause of damage to household appliances such as coffee machines and kettles. If you fill them with filtered water, you can avoid this. In addition, water filtered from a Brita Marella jug will improve the taste of your favourite coffee or tea. An environmentally friendly solution If you want to reduce your environmental impact, a water filter jug should definitely be on your shopping list. Brita Marella makes it possible to almost completely dispense with water in plastic bottles. This can be up to 90 bottles per person per month. This also reduces the strain on your household budget.

I have used a Brita filter jug for years, but eventually they do start to wear out so we bought the new Marella jug. What I have noticed is that there is a small pocket of water that remains in the well beneath the cartridge and doesn’t appear to ever drain away or get used, thereby meaning there is stale water resting in the jug until the filter is changed, unless you keep taking it apart. Perhaps this could be considered when a new line of jugs is designed. A bit disappointing really.

I'm usually transferring the filtered water from my Marella jug into recyclable glass bottles in order for my family to be able to carry it around the house and use it in different rooms. After only a couple of hours spent in the glass bottle, the water develops a particular smell which is really putting my child off drinking it.I was also unable to find out how to recycle the cartridges, so I'm just tossing them away together with the rest of the plastic recycling waste. The tea prepared with filtered water has a distinctively different taste, which unfortunately I find less tasty than the one brewed with tap water.I'm disappointed with the product. My high expectations, built because of the clever marketing, have not been met by the actual quality of the whole ... MoreI'm usually transferring the filtered water from my Marella jug into recyclable glass bottles in order for my family to be able to carry it around the house and use it in different rooms. I purchesed Evolve filters when on special offer because it stated they were compatable with Maxtra jugs.I assumed that since my jug used Maxtra filters the Evolve filters would also fit, but they do not work in the Marella jug.I HAVE BEEN MISLEAD, if my jug can use a Maxtra filter, WHY NOT an Evolve filter.I have now got 12 filters that I cannot use !!

Easy to use
22 June 2023

I bought this some weeks ago to replace my classic filter after 10 +years of use . However I have concerns that water sits below the filter cartridge and does not pass through the filter at all. I have tried to refit cartridge but whichever way it goes some water remains beneath the cartridge. Is this normal or haveI got a faulty container.

Good jug
19 May 2022

I have boththe Marella and Marella XL jugs. Both are good. The XL has larger capacity so needs to be refilled less often which is a bonus. However if I pour some filtered water out whilst it's still filtering the water, the XL has more of a tenancy to leak water out. The standard jug just seems a better design. However both are good jugs and I recommend.

Great filters, but the jug timer is pointless!!
21 May 2020

I bought this to replace my previous Brita filter jug which I was unable to find filters for anymore. The Maxtra filters work really well, but I have a serious issue with the timeron the jug. I live in my own and the timer is just a predetermined countdown which decreases with no relation to how often you actually filter water through the jug. It's just pointless for someone like myself and is a pointless piece of tech.Having had water filters for years I'm well aware when they need changing and this just irritates me as it's so obviously just about getting you to buy more product. It's annoying to the point I'm looking at other providers now. Especially as new filters are hitting the market where you don't throw away dozens (if you followed the timer function) ... MoreI bought this to replace my previous Brita filter jug which I was unable to find filters for anymore. You refill the filter!! Come on Brita, you're in danger of becoming a dinosaur in an industry you once led.

Marella machine could be easier
30 September 2022

Fairly sure my current machine is a Marella. It is a nuisance compared to my old machine / jug because the lid must be removed to re fill it which is a pain in the posterior. If the lid is not replaced firmly enough first time pouring water out and the lid comes off and everything is swamped. Replace firmly enough to keep it in place and next re fill you can't get the lid off without broken finger nails. It is a nuisance all round. My previous machine could be filled through the lid, so much easier plus the filters didn't float out of their fitment hole! Lid back off again!

Pure Taste!
30 October 2020

I am now using this for the 3rd month and my drinking water tastes so much better. I also use it for my cooking and it makes such a difference to the build up of scale in the pans and the kettle - there is none! The filter is easy enough to change and the jug is a good size, I bought XL. This means I don't need to keep filling it. The only drawback is that this size would not fit in the fridge door and would have to stand on a shelf but this is no problem for me as I prefer the water at room temperature. The only reason I did not give a 5 star is because the lid is a very tight fit and if you push it down too far at the handle end the flap that you pour the water into stays partly open. Also the plastic has broken on the hinge at the small pouring flap but ... MoreI am now using this for the 3rd month and my drinking water tastes so much better. Overall I am still very happy with the results, I live in a hard water area, so I really notice the difference and and I will continue to use filtered water from now on.

Simply wonderful
17 February 2022

For a while I didn’t understand the point of Brita… but against my moaning my friend bought me one. Honestly I’m drinking so much more water and obviously feel and look better. I don’t buy bottled water and drink straight from the tap/ faucet. The Brita system makes the water in my area taste clearer and better. It’s easy to fill up and holds such a lot. It’s easier to track the amount of water I’m drinking. Great job.

Useful Water Filter
21 February 2021

We have only ever used Brita water filters so it was automatic choice for us when a replacement was required. There is no doubt that the filter does it's job well and is reliable. The only reservations I have are with regard to the construction. When placing the Maxtra filter into it's location there is no positive method of retention and I have on occasions had the filter lift out which renders all of the water unfiltered. The only way I have found to ensure it stays in place is to press down hard onto the filter directly while there is water in the top part of the jug. Also with the lid, it does not slot into place and has on occasions fallen out when pouring from the jug. However despite these slightly annoying points it does not stop me from using the jug.
