The jug design is slightly different to the older Brita jugs. There is an indicator light which shows the effectiveness of the filter (the older ones don't have this). There is also a flip top (new) which opens smoothly so refilling the jug is a breeze. (Instead opening the entire lid in the older designs). It's handy to have a large capacity filter jug so you don't have to refill all the time :)Can see why the price of this jug/package is more than the older packages. Still recommend it though!

Bought to replace my old Brita filter jug I had hoped a newer version would have sorted out the dripping spout after pouring the water. The new jug still drips which is annoying, although not as badly. The jug is very good but the lid feels more flimsy with a very odd soft plastic lever, I wonder how long before it snaps off. Having said all that I am happy with the purchase.

We use this everyday, so pleased we bought it as our water source has recently been changed and apparently blended and it’s disgusting. So we decided to get the style filter jug to see if we could improve the taste. We’ve now got lovely fresh water straight from the fridge even the dogs love it.

Takes up space for a litre of water. Looks great as it’s clean and minimal in design. Not sure why the filter starts blinking in a month to orange. Thought it should last 6 months. Water does taste better after filter.
An otherwise good product, but seriously let down by what I view to be a small but fundamental design flaw. The jug has no spout cover, leaving any contents open. What were the designers at Brita thinking?! The maintenance of basic good food hygiene requires that all perishable food and liquids be fully covered during storage, including in a fridge. It therefore seems bizarre to me to go to all the trouble and expense to filter water to remove impurities, then store it unprotected against air borne bacteria, which effectively renders the product useless for my purposes. The open spout void also presents the risk during filling of accidentally spilling unfiltered tap water directly into the body of the jug, which sort of defeats the object.I’ve now swapped the ... MoreAn otherwise good product, but seriously let down by what I view to be a small but fundamental design flaw. The open spout void also presents the risk during filling of accidentally spilling unfiltered tap water directly into the body of the jug, which sort of defeats the object.I’ve now swapped the offending item for the Brita Aluna jug, which does have a protective spout and is, paradoxically, cheaper. It does, however, seem rather counter-intuitive to have previously paid significantly more for rather less.
The filter cartridges seem to run out way too quickly. There are only two of us but they never last 3 weeks. Makes it very expensive to run.Maybe our older version was serving us poor quality water but the amber light comes on SO fast with this one that you feel under great pressure with it. It's very "insistent" as well flashing red six times when you've had it almost no time. When it first arrived I liked the thumb-lifting lid but already it's losing its rigidity and not quite so easy to operate. Our previous version had rubber feet which was a great feature. This one doesn't. I miss them.I wish it was easy to test the water as there is no problem with less than clear tea even when the red light is hounding me.Don't buy this if you are easily stressed!
We live in London - rubbish water - and have been using Brita filters for 12 years. But this is finally a jug that is total perfection; it has the handle 'integrated', the top filter bit stays in, it can filter a lot of water in one go - and its the best looking of all the Britas. Brita? you have a winner. We have been patiently trying all your jugs; we will keep on buying this one!
I use the jug because it improves the taste of my otherwise bitter tap water. The illuminated indicator is questionable. What does it measure... only flow I think, it has no ability to assess the state of the cartridge, it's a secondary indicator and can be reset again and again. It's a gimmick. I would be impressed if its indications were actual measurements of cartridge function
