Not a runner, but I've been wearing the Ghost series shoes for probably 6 years or more, but noticed that my right foot is starting to pronated while walking more as I am getting older.( I'll also add that I am very overweight.) To the point where it was hard to walk when not wearing shoes. Thought I would give the Beast a try and it would hopefully "correct" my issue. They were very difficult to wear the first few days. Matter of fact, first day I could only do about 3 or 4 hours in them and had to change. By day three, they felt normal. And in the evenings when I take my shoes off I am no longer having the ankle and foot pains I was previously having.I'm sold on the Beast! Great shoe, will order another pair when time comes.

Amazing support. Came back to it after trying Under Armour runners and trainers for 5 years. No comparison. Tried all brands, even left the store and came back the following week at different Rebel store to make sure (Brooks Beast is not cheap and wanted to make sure). Walked out that day with Beast. Been running on treadmill and footpath and using steppers at gym for 1 month. Very happy with cushioning and ankle support.

Have had my Beast 20's for a couple weeks now. I use them just to walk. They are very comfortable. The 20 does not seem to be as durable as my Beast 14's (that I actually still have but soles are pretty much down to nothing). I say this because the 20's are easier to twist than the 14's. The material on the 14's is a little heavier duty. The 20 is a lighter weight shoe and I do enjoy that for longer walks. Time will tell about the longevity of these Beast 20's. Right not I am going to rate them a 5 star but that could change if they do not last as long as my Beast 14's.

I have been a loyal Brooks Beast customer for many years. The Beast was always consistent that I could wear out of the box.The Beast 2020 has been reengineered. Being that they changed the structure of the shoe I tried Asics, Saucony and other Brooks models and settled on the Beast 2020.With foot and knee injuries, I completed 41 marathons including two Bostons, I needed a shoe that would give me the support and stability for endurance running. The Beast has been my shoe of choice.I wear custom orthotics and wear a 11 ½ EE to accommodate the additional support. The reengineering has made the 2020 lighter than the 2018, 13.3 oz vs. 11.7 in the new model. By its name the Beast is still a Beast (large bulky shoe). The new design included "guide rails" which is a plastic stability piece running along the midsole medial (inside) of the shoe. It provides stability and it works. The sole of the shoe picks up more debris than previous models. Twigs and stones stick in the slots. The heel is rugged but the top is soft, maybe too soft. Putting your heel in the shoe the top tends to bend into the shoe. The upper material is very breathable and the tongue is comfortable.
Brooks Beast has been my running shoe for the last 20 + years. They are consistent in fit and quality.I have narrow feet so these also run a bit more narrow than the standard D width. Usually I have trouble with a loose fitting heel but these are comfortably snug.Great motion control shoe. Highly recommend if you have flat or very little arch and need a more narrow fitting shoe.
I've used Brooks Beast for walking since the early 1980's recommended by my podiatrist, who liked the toe box room for my bunions and the arch support it had. He even had his own on while examining my feet. Up til the Brooks Beast 20 there has been great exterior support. The toe was reinforced by a "plastic cap" and likewise the heel region as well with a plastic support piece. This created good lateral roll protection as you took steps. Now, with the '20 all that is gone ! Brooks capitulated to runners by making the shoe lighter. The tongue is also less thick for cushioning. Now, when rolling the front part of the shoe medially, I can feel the entire shoe shifting, mostly obvious at the toe box region. After all, this toe or forefoot area was one of the main ... Now, when rolling the front part of the shoe medially, I can feel the entire shoe shifting, mostly obvious at the toe box region. After all, this toe or forefoot area was one of the main reasons that the Beast was initially recommended by my podiatrist ! This is not good for support or for shoe durability. They took away the great lateral support, cushy materials and foot comfort for a lighter shoe! Brooks, you need to bring back the original shoe materials and design ! ! At least, make TWO VERSIONS, a Beast for walking as well as for running ! The Adrenalin was mistreated as well. Looking for an alternative to the "new, defective" Beast 20, I called Roadrunner and what they did to the Beast 20, they also did to the Adrenalin 14. Brooks.."You need to listen to your long time customers or else we will abandon you !" Now, I am afraid to go on after 40 years and continue to purchase the Beasts !
I'm not a runner but I have very large feet (16D) that need a lot of support and cushioning. These Brooks are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn hands down. I've had various Asics, New Balance, Adidas, Nike's etc. I had no idea Brooks even made shoes anymore (they sold them at K-Mart as a child) but I'm sold for life! Again, not a runner due to a slew of injuries and byproducts of growing pains so I can't give a runners' review, but I use these as walkers and cross trainers/gym shoes and I love em.
Brooks Beast Runner for over 25 years. I've put 50+ miles on the new 2020 and struggle with the fit, feel, support, and trying to rationalize the performance. Best way to convey my feedback is with the Cons and Pros below and a subjective analysis below.CONS: 1) Mesh is super loose and roomy on top of foot allowing feet to slide between rails, especially when running on slopes. The lack of support from upper mesh is causing skin irritation on bottom of my right big toe area. 2) The laces are longer than needed, feel light in construction. 3) Feels like all the support has gone away as the rail system is more of a gate guide allowing more flexibility from heals through arch movement. It is obvious that the arch supports from older models are gone as the new rails do nothing to make-up for the difference. I've had planter fasciitis in the past and my left foot has painful like cramps during a portion of each run in these new 20s. 4) I normally run in size 8.5 and an 8 in soccer cleats. The Brooks site said the 20's run tight so I got my usual 8.5. The fit actually seems HUGE and I contribute this to the mesh and lack of arch support material. The results feel as if there is no support over the entire foot with even pressure. I tried to compensate by tightening the laces and it causes uneven pressure distribution over the entire foot. 6) Price, seriously too much for a shoe that may not last as long (wear) and looks like it cost much less to make. (Side note: Money is really tight and I usually buy older models and even slightly used online to save money. However, I'm 56 years old and run a pace of 7:30 miles while training and injuries are more likely to happen so I wanted to invest in a shoe to help. Other than Solomon, I've always suffered injuries when switching away from the Beast. I don't like the Roadrunner's or Brooks gate analysis tools as they always say I need a "NEUTRAL" model. Each time I strayed away from the Beast I would get Shin splints, planters...
I think already did a review on these shoes, but Roadrunners asked again. These are a shoe that are great to walk in. I have a fairly high instep and they do a good job. I feel like my old Beast 14 were a bit heavier duty. I still have my Beast 14's as they are still wearable even though the tread is about gone. These 20's are a lighter weight shoe. I do not feel they would be a shoe for an avid runner, but walker just fine. The 12mm drop feels so natural to me.
I used to suffer from over-pronation with my previous shoes after a few months of wear, but the Brooks Beasts fixed all that. They have also lasted a lot longer than the previous shoes I was wearing and show no signs of degradation after several months of daily use. These shoes are superb and if they ever wear out I will buy an identical pair to replace them. Cannot recommend them too highly, especially if your ankles suffer from a tendency to pronate. They are not cheap but they are worth every penny of the asking price.
