Super bummed! I got the wides because I have the Glycerins GTS 20 in a wide and they fit nice but they have too much tilt in the shoe and push my to the outsides of my feet and cause a lot of pain. And are not meant for wet conditions, fell really bad wearing them on a walk on sidewalks after a rain. So I picked these out to have to wear for anything outside and or rain related. The wides were so tight across the top of my foot I would’ve hated to see how a regular fit. I was able to wear both in the glycerin GTS 20 just wanted the extra toe room. This shoe has none. So cramped inside. I just wore them from the living room to the kitchen and they were soo stiff and clunky as well. I read a lot of mixed reviews so I decided to try them myself. I should’ve listened to the reviews that were tight across the toe because they were telling the truth! I ended up finding Altras and they are amazing! Have a nice toe box and don fit sloppy. I also found with the glycerin GTS that my foot slid around too much in the shoe in a wide. I won’t being buying anymore brooks until they come out with a better toe box in there shoe

Fantastic trail shoe. I love this shoe, used it for a hike with very steep hill and rocky surfaces. Could not have been happier with the support and cushioning this shoe provided. Waited for the new Cascadia 17 after reading about the updates from Cascadia 16. I hadn't tried the Cascadia 16. Although the weight of the Cascadia is heavier than other Brooks trail shoes I didn't notice it and I'd rather have the extra support and cushioning this shoe provided than be a lightweight racing trail shoe. Will definitely buy this shoe again.

Brooks Cascadias have been my go-to trail runners for years now. However, a few iterations ago, I didn't love the update, so I switched to another brand the last time I needed trail runners. Needless to say, I'm back to Brooks and love the Cascadia 17's. They are very sturdy with plenty of room in the front. While running over roots and rocks, I feel like the shoes hold me in without being inflexible. I'm back to feeling confident that I won't twist an ankle on uneven terrain. I love the new styling, which looks aggressive. I will say that the blue on the sneaker is slightly brighter/lighter than is shown in the picture. I'm so satisfied with the Cascadia 17's!!

Oh man, I really wanted to love these. I’ve been wearing Cascadias for years and have had a love/hate relationship with the different versions. I was really hoping the 17s would feel more like the older Cascadias (the 16’s were way too blocky and clunky for me), but I’m really disappointed in these. I pulled them out of the box and immediately thought they looked like Hokas. The bottoms are super wide and yet they somehow fit oddly narrow in the upper. I have a narrow foot and ankle and the heel pads hit me in a very strange spot. I wear the Cascadias for my burlier trail runs and backpacking and I could barely wear these around the house before I got a hot spot on my heels. I tried two sizes and they both had the same issue. Such a disappointment! Please go back to ... MoreOh man, I really wanted to love these. I’ve been wearing Cascadias for years and have had a love/hate relationship with the different versions. Brooks Cascadia 17 were amazing on my recent backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. My pack weighed 34 lbs and the shoes provided all the support that I needed. I usually wear low hiking boots when backpacking but swithced to Cascadias this year because of all of the expected river crossings. The shoes were light and supportive and performed well in snow, with microspikes and dried quickly. I never had to put wet shoes on in the morning. The hidden velcro patch on the heel worked great with my Dirty Girl Gaitors. This is my 4th pair of Cascadias, but the first time I've worn them backpacking. They are great trail shoes.
I am disappointed in the color. I bought these specifically because they were listed as navy and white. They are not navy, they are a lavender blue. I kept them because these are the model that helps support my hip and knee. I don’t use them as a trail runner. I use them at work as a physical therapist. I don’t need all the traction there, but so far, this is the model that prevents me form over supination and keeps me comfortable. I also use previous models as my yard shoes (hilly) and hiking shoes. As other reviewers say, they are narrow, but for me, they are perfect. Most Brooks shoes are too loose in the forefoot for me.If you have a narrower than medium sized foot, these will be perfect. If you have a wide foot, skip them. I would recommend them, but don’t ... MoreI am disappointed in the color. I bought these specifically because they were listed as navy and white. They are not navy, they are a lavender blue. I have a pair of ghost style that I absolutely LOVE (I am a nurse and they float me through 12 hour shifts). So I bought these for an upcoming trip to the Midwest to have a sturdier shoe for hiking and waking rough terrain. Both pair I sized up. These Cascadia are much tighter, especially in the toe. I took a mile walk yesterday and my feet were hurting and toes were numb. I took the same walk today with thinner socks, which was better in the toe, but I got a blister in the area between my ankle and heel, inside left foot. I feel a small hump there in the fabric where there is a change in the padding. I am fairly disappointed. I am going to continue to work with these and I'm hoping things improve before my trip in a month. Bringing band-aids though!
So disappointed. I’m a 40’s woman, 130 lbs. size 7.0, neutral, 50+ miles per week off road but not rugged trails, some pavement. These shoes were so hard to get used to and the soles feel hard and rigged. I was hoping for a cushioned run—that is not these shoes. In defense, I’ve never found a trail shoe that I’ve liked. I had to put different insoles in just to wear them to work. I wear ghosts 14 & 15, which I love but wanted a more cushioned sole. The support is ok, traction is excellent, construction will hold up well.
I have worn the cascadia for the past 15 years. I occasionally have skipped a model year but have a great deal of experience running in this shoe. The 17 is not for me. I was excited about the new traction system and the extra cushion but I think it makes the vertical inside of the shoe tighter. I cut my run short because I was at the loosest lacing I could do and still had deep red marks on the top of my inner foot where the shoe was too tight. I do use orthopedic inserts but these are the exact same ones i have used the past year in my 16s with no trouble. Returned the 17s and bought another pair of 16s.
I have loved 4 pairs of Cascadia 16s to death on mountain trails … just tried a 17 and it stayed in the store. What was a phenomenal grip surface is diminished, footbed is changed in some weird way that is just plain uncomfortable, and toe box was binding on the top of my one problem big toe - seemed like it’s modified into something a bit like a European toe and I have a square American foot. I wouldn’t have even thought the 17 was still a Cascadia. Such a disservice to repeat customers to change so much, and none of it for the better. Very sad. :(
