Sorry for the long review…So lemme start my saying I love the Cascadia 16… and have used them on all kinds of trail terrain, and they killed it! Now, I live in Seattle, the PNW and am training for my first 50k… so got these GTX versions to train all winter in the wet and muddy trail conditions… But, I am torn on these shoes. They fit more snug than the regular 16’s, they don’t make an 12.5 size either… and they are definitely stiffer in the upper… likely the Gore-Tex. Now they are amazing on the trails like the regular 16’s, and keep my feet completely dry…. but I’ve been putting lots of miles on them (120ish so far) with long runs (2-3:30hr on trails), and they cause quite a bit of pressure and pain on the (bunion) bone behind the big toe, exactly where the ... MoreSorry for the long review…So lemme start my saying I love the Cascadia 16… and have used them on all kinds of trail terrain, and they killed it! I was hoping that it would get better, or maybe break in, but it has not really. I will use a broom handle pre-run to try and loosen up that area some, and have had to use a double layer of moleskin on the area to keep from blisters forming… but even still it bruises it, and so it’s uncomfortable for quite a bit throughout the long runs. I’m not sure what to do about it, as I love the cascadia 16 and the gore tex. Anyone else have this issue? i’d bump it to 5 stars if i could fix this issue! Thanks!

Great shoe, I use them for golf in the wetter months. They are very comfortable the first time you wear them and support your feet very well. They have great grip and it doesn’t matter how wet the course is my feet stay nice and dry. I’m getting a second pair I reckon there that good.

I've been wearing these for inside exercise (too cold and snowy in Canada for these on trails yet) and they have been comfy from the first time I laced them up. They also move nicely, with noticeable cushion and what I'll call good-for-factory arch support. Can't wait to take them on some trails though!

Great show. I had the Cascadia 16 standard shoe but with snow, mud and streams where I live and run, I needed the extra protection. These feel as good as the regular 16s - maybe get a little warmer inside due to the enclosing Goretex, but otherwise they’re great. One needs to remember that stepping into water.mud past the top of the shoe will still get you wet, so you have about 4 1/2” of depth to play with. I’ve added some lightweight gaiters to my runs and I feel pretty protected.
Bought these for my husband who does a lot of mixed hiking and usually wears boots. He was skeptical but has other pairs of Brooks running shoes so he gave these a try. Definitely keep your feet dry, easy to clean, and comfortable. He’s not a dark shoe kind of guy and wishes there were other color options. Would purchase again.
I got these shoes for my husband after having a pair for myself. We both love them - comfort, waterproof, and even help keep the feet warm on cool days. We plan to use these for hiking in our upcoming trip to Alaska! Highly recommend!
I was looking for a pair of trail runners that were lightweight but could take a beating and these Cascadia’s meet the needs. The mid foot is firm and stable with cushioning is ample. If you are looking to feel more underfoot, this shoe will not provide that but you can definitely run for hours on end comfortably. Grip is great and the toebox is a good width, even for a normal width shoe. Highly recommend!
I'm still not sure what to make of the Gore-Tex 16's that I bought for winter hiking/activities...I have the (non-GTX) 15s and it's been the best hiking shoe I've ever used, ever. So comfortable, and I don't remember any sort of break in period (similar with the 14s). The 16s fit is completely different. I was an 11.5 in the 14/15s, but had to size down to a 11 for the 16s. The upper part of the shoe is extremely stiff and/or has a seam that rubs the top portion of the foot. There are 2 extra shoelace holes at the top, and I've tried all sorts of configurations to no avail. I've settled on removing the lace from the top hole (so top 3 holes are open), and still experience some discomfort. I worry it will create issues for runs or longer hikes.I'm really hoping ... MoreI'm still not sure what to make of the Gore-Tex 16's that I bought for winter hiking/activities...I have the (non-GTX) 15s and it's been the best hiking shoe I've ever used, ever. With that said, I'm hesitant to buy the non-GTX version...
Great trail running shoe for sure but I bought the Cascadia 16 GTX as an everyday adventure shoe- I’m an active dad with 3 sons under 8. I need a sporty shoe that’s; comfy all day, looks good, rugged with a solid tread and waterproof exterior to protect against dew, mud and rain. This shoe ticks all my boxes.I’m also pleased with the consistent fit with previously owned brooks made online purchase super simple.
I have worn Cascasdias in years past, and they have been good for running on trails. My one concern, which is not insignificant, is that this new version of Cascadia in my size finds the shoe is too roomy. A much older version of the same size shoe is noticeably different. The problem for my new shoes was largely solved by the use of an old insole from an older Brooks shoe that I still had in my closet. The old insole is rather thick and still firm, so it works, so that's why I am giving the shoe a high rating. Good cushioning and is comfortable. One of my major gripes of most "new" running shoes is that companies can change the size of a shoe and you don't know it. The old size 8 is now 8.5!
