When I initially received these shorts, I was very hesitant to use them because they did seem a little tighter than I would have preferred. However, when I started training for my most recent marathon, I wanted to wear these so I could carry my gels during my long runs, and boy am I upset I didn't give these a chance earlier! The pockets are great and roomy enough for at least 2 gels.I am 5'6, athletic build (mostly a runner), 125-130 lbs and I ordered a small! In the end, I don't mind the tighter fit and I have not had any issues with the shorts riding up or rubbing / chaffing. I do have to say that when I wear these (and any compression pant / short really), I am intentional about using Body Glide to avoid chaffing.Definitely recommend these as a running ... MoreWhen I initially received these shorts, I was very hesitant to use them because they did seem a little tighter than I would have preferred. I am shocked Brooks asked for a review, since they ignored my e-mail about these shorts when I generated my shipping label. Which will be sent out today or tomorrow. This was in my e-mail, and I think everyone needs to see this before thinking of ordering these shorts:Over the last few years I have seen such a decline in your product. I have also included pictures comparing these size small shorts to other size small shorts from Brooks - and another company to show the drastically difference in size when both marked size small.I am 5'4, 125 pounds, and I would probably need a size large in these shorts - I even checked the sizing guide on your website before ordering them. Yet they came in and are insanely small. They wouldn't even be able to purchase these shorts but yet your company is advertising them as if they can. Do you collect data on how many returns you get on items that were not posted with true information? Not to mention the shorts are listed at 5in inseam, when clearly in my picture the measuring tape was barely at 4in for the inseam.

So the prior year's model is a much better fit, and more stretch. I have two prior year in small. I bought these in medium (nightlife) and I could say they fit except fabric is baggy and awkward in the crotch. I subsequently got small but maybe too small. Not nearly as much stretch and give as the prior yr. I love the color but a disappointment as not like the prior year's model. The value was there as bought for $29, but not right for me

I was looking for shorts with pockets for carrying fuel with me during the Chicago Marathon and purchased these. I did have to go up a size from S to M (5’2”, 113lbs)The medium fit well and I took them for a short run and liked them. I took them out on my 22 miler as a test for race day and I was convinced I found the shorts. When I took them off I found I had chaffed pretty severely around the hemline on my outer thighs and down the seam of the pockets. Over a week later they have scabbed over but still look pretty bad. I might wear these even still because it wasn’t painful while it was happening, only after.
I love these shorts. The blue is very bright and the material seems durable and not see through when you bend and move. The seams on the back are feminine and flattering. I'm a rather small person. 5 foot 105 pounds.. definitely size up. I'm normally an extra small or 25 in pants. I bought these in xs and they are VERY tiny. I can still just barely fit, but a size small would have been a better fit for me.
I wanted to love these so badly! I tried and tried but ended up having to return. The inner thigh of the short kept rolling up on my runs, leading to my inner thighs rubbing together. It's interesting because I can wear 3, 4, and 5 inch loose running shorts but night the spandex type for some reason. I am also a very average sized woman (5'3", 127 lbs, 26 in waist) so it certainly wasn't because I have 'thigh thighs'. In my opinion, just beware if you have sensitive skin and/or sensitive soft inner thighs like I do!Aside from that, these shorts are AMAZING. The pockets are perfectly placed and very roomy. The waist band was my favorite part though. The width is perfect in my opinion, and it had just the right amount of compression for me. The waist band was my favorite part though. The width is perfect in my opinion, and it had just the right amount of compression for me. The material is also very thick and sturdy, so I know these shorts will last. There was no pinching, rolling, or any discomfort in the waist band with these shorts. So, I exchanged for the 8 inch method shorts and those are definitely my favorite running shorts ever now. I've done countless miles and multiple half marathons in them now with no discomfort at all!
I purchased these in a size large in the color: Bluetiful. I love the color! It’s true to the stock photo. Unfortunately, I found the sizing on the small side. I have these in the 8” length, and large fits like a glove. These were so tight and they rolled up as I moved, which was incredibly annoying. I wore them once and decided these weren’t the length for me, so I will be returning them.
So many biker style shorts I've tried are just a touch too long to be flattering. These hit at the perfect spot to look flattering but still prevent chafing. If you have muscular thighs, definitely size up. I'm a medium in most shorts so I ordered these in a medium. Although the waistband fit perfectly, the leg holes were a little too tight around my thighs, causing a sort of "sausage leg" effect. Exchanged for large and I no longer have that problem.
I was looking for another pair of my favorite arc’teryx shorts, but REI no longer sells them so I got these based on the good reviews. I run between a medium and a large, and got a large based on reviews saying to size up. I’m 5’9”, 160 lbs with very muscular legs. These are like sausage casings around my legs, super uncomfortable and super unflattering. They also don’t stay in place at all because of that, which is the whole point of wearing this style of short. I didn’t even make it on a run with them because just wearing them around the house was annoying enough. I will be returning these ASAP and am trying out the REI brand ones instead.
Daughter is very curvy with small waist and curvy hips; my waist reflects birthing 2 children and being in perimenopause, but my thighs are fit and slim. Daughter wears a medium comfortably and I wear a large. I wish the back pocket had a zipper, but it works, and I wish the leg hems had a silicone strip to lock them down tight, but even without it, they are long enough and snug enough that they don't budge too much during runs. Love the colors, too. DD has a 28-in waist, 39-in hips and weighs 110 lbs--wears a med. I have 32-in waist, 40 in hips and weigh 130--wear a large.
