I got tired of all-in-one printers that needed expensive ink. When my last Brother printer started having problems with the drum %26 since the drum was expensive decided to by this printer, Brother HL-L2325DW.This one worked great for about 6 or 7 months. I bought this little workhorse printer after researching laser printers that were easy to set up, use, and could be used plugged to a computer/laptop or could be used wirelessly (phone). It was a bargain at $110 because it came with the ink cartridge - a lot of laser printers, don’t, surprisingly. Set up took about 15 mins, and that was just because I didn’t read the instructions so well, lol, and thought that when the set-up was asking for a password, that it was supposed to be one I made up, but it was actually wanting the one on the back of the printer. Anyway, the box it came is is large because it’s packed very well, but this little guy has a small, sleek footprint. It’s only 14” on all side and 8” tall. It works great! There’s a CD to install, but since my laptop doesn’t have a CD player/reader, I just downloaded the print program straight from the Brother website included in the directions and didn’t bother about the CD. Easy! Laser printers are very ink-efficient, unlike jet printers, so one of laser print cartridges for this printer will print about 700 regular sheets, but if you are printing charts and images, it will obviously print considerably less. I will only be printing regular paper docs like letters, homework papers, etc., so I anticipate the included cartridge will last a long while. Also, laser cartridges don’t dry up like jet ink cartridges. Do not buy this printer if you want to print in color - it’s monochrome only, meaning just black and white, which is exactly what I needed. Buy it!

I forgot the name of the first app I tried but I could never reconcile the IP addresses. It left me in tears and I eventually deleted it. Brother iPrint %26 Scan was the one I ended up being able to use although it also had its challenges. I have to force close the app and restart the machine several times to get the devices to communicate.Connecting the printer to the WiFi was an equally frustrating experience because the manner of inputting the password is tedious and again, instructions incomplete. I found a YouTube video that helped, but even it seemed to leave out some of the nuances of the process (I think it was on the Brother website because I can’t find it in my YouTube history to share with you). If your password is long, I recommend you start with some breathing exercises to calm you down.So I guess you have to pay a lot more than $100 if you want a laser printer that doesn’t give you anxiety attacks during the setup. I finally got it to work but I’m not sure it was worth almost losing my sanity.

We just needed a no drama laser printer for the occasional homework project, to do list etc. that comes up from time to time. This compact printer was a perfect solution.Positive findings:1. Inexpensive2. Super easy setup over wifi, easing printing from phone (AirPrint)3. Totally quiet when not in use and not too loud when using4. Crisp and clean looking printoutsNegative findings: Not much to say, for this price this it the best value printer. The paper tray is relatively small as expected. It's no frills in terms of screen/menu, and not multifunction (no scanner/fax), but sometimes simpler is better.

Ultimately, I had to do the installation manually with that small one-line screen. Since there were no prompts to tell me what to do, I just had to guess. Brother is the culprit, rather than the printer, and needs to revise the CD to either list all the computers the printer is compatible with or explain that you need to select one of the two printers that they show—even though neither is your model.
