Brother MFC-L8690CDW Colour Laser Printer

Bought the Brother MFC-L8690CDW printer a few years back after covid hit. Love the quality and features. Had a problem now - can't print.Also difficult to get help - did LIVE CHAT and was given steps to take to rectify the problem. Did all that and still can't get it going. Blank screen even when on/green light. This printer is about $700 over I think. Probably have to junk it. What a waste. Now need to shop for another printer. Hopefully one that last longer:-(

A Great all round printer.

I bought one of these printers at the beginning of 2022 and was very impressed with it as the Mensshed I attend has one. As I set it up for them and used it is a joy to use.I have used mine now for six months on a continuous basis and it works flawlessly and very happy with it.I also have a Brother MFC L2750CDW printer which is a very excellent, but it’s only Mono (black & white) Brother makes a very good laser printer.I have read a few reviews on what people think of laser printers and some people think it runs on ink. Wrong! Laser toner is a plastic powder mixed with a silica to make it move easily, no liquid at all. Shelf life much much longer.

Coloured Laser Printer - MCF-L8690CDW

The Brother printer purchased MFC-L8690CDW - coloured laser printer is terrific. Double sided scanning, great quality of print, excellent speed, excellent technical support and the list of good features goes on!I have also owned a Brother MFC-L2700DW laser printer for some years. That printer has been very reliable which precipitated sourcing another Brother Printer. Toner cartridges are not cheap, but it is better to use genuine toner cartridges than alternatives in order that the warranty is not void.

Compact and efficient Brother printer

This is a compact and versatile Multi Function Printer and prints out quicker that my old printer. I just started using it so will have to see the cartridge life span in the next few months. Delivery was on the next day after I purchased it from a local supplier. I have an older version at home, which was twice the size and was happy that the current version is small and versatile. Scanning and photocopying is a breeze, especially in duplex mode. Very easy connection to my WIFI and the printer is on my list of printers right away. No need for cables to be connected to the LAN. Colour printing on economy mode still looks good. Haven't had an opportunity to print full colour mode to see the vividness of the picture.

Printer is easy to set up and relatively fast at over 30 pages per minute.Cartridges are also good value for money as the Black prints 6000 pages and the colours print 4000 pages each so your not having to change cartridges every five minutes. Cost for cartridges isn't too bad either.Only down side would be the speed of printing via wifi. While it still does 30ppm it can take around 15-20 seconds to start printing the first page. Once it's going though you wont have any problems.Print quality is superb and I have been able to print flyers and brochures for my business and they look great. Doesn't print right to the edge of the page but I didn't expect it to. leaves a 1-2mm border which is normal for a printer.

Excellent feature set for the price point

The double sided scanning was the main criteria for this purchase as the MFC-L3770CDW was out of stock. For the extra $200 or so it is a faster device and taller. Brother really have a niche in this market with well priced, well featured MFDs. (Duplexing, scanning ADF, copying). The other major brands have either much less featured around this price, or moving to large workgroup printers to get the feature. This is the third MFC from Brother and all have done very well. Recommended.

Good value for money

Easy to set up. Two-sided scanning was main reason for purchase. Plus having full toner cartridges instead of startup ones made it better value for money. Is a bit slow to start printing bit scanning speed is great. Printouts are clear and easy to read. Wi-Fi setup was easy and scanning to computer from the printer worked first time. Definitely recommend this printer

Low usage user

So far, I like everything about this printer except that it is really heavy, which can be good in some cases. I've had brands of other consumer grade printers before, and not sure if it's because time has improved everyone, or Brother has got it right, I find it hard to fault anything with this printer (though I am low usage user, but decided go with this model because it had all the features and robustness I wanted, and the toners that came standard are full standard toners).Also, from set up to use, everything is quite intuitive and functional, and I was able to learn to use all the features I want to use by videos and manual look up. Outstanding!

I'm building up a new home office installation and required a new printer. I wasn't to going to buy another inkjet. Tired and frustrated with them, may not print every day or every week and don't require photo quality output but I do require a printer that works when I need it to as it's usually something urgent. Messing around with head cleaning and head alignment, pulling my hair out in frustration I'm too old for and far too tired of. So this is the second Brother MFC I've purchased. The last one was a mono laser MFC in 2006 and it's lasted 13 years which I won't complain about and it's still supported on the Brother website, big positive that!Given my experience I bought this, needed colour, scanning, copying and fax is still useful, still a legal document in ... MoreI'm building up a new home office installation and required a new printer. It is heavy, it is big and the photo attached shows this in a temporary position for now, have a place for this but need to make space in the home office sometime soon. It is a commercial machine however the price was excellent and being commercial I know it will last and be supported for many years.Once again thank you Brother.So yes I would recommend and needless to say the print quality and user experience have been excellent!

Very impressive little machine

I wanted a printer for a home-based business that could print high quality but, more importantly, scan a lot of pages dual-sided (I think they call it 'duplex scanning').Having owned an Brother inkjet I was familiar and happy with the brand. But I wanted laserjet for my next purchase.I got it home and set it up. It was really easy to set up with our network and connect to my device. After a bit of tinkering, I got the scan settings saved as a favourite and now I am off and running with the perfect set up.Really happy with my purchase so far.
