This putting mix is absolute crap.I filled four long planter boxes with it and planted spring onions, tomatoes, brussel sprouts and capsicum seeds also from Big W. After four months the capsicum failed to come up. The spring onions will not grow beyond 5mm. Most of the seeds also failed to come up. I have successfully grown these seeds in potting mix before all from another supplier.I would give no stars but was unable to do review without one.

I have been using this product for years to grow native plants because it was a basic potting mix that didn't contain fertilisers or wetting agents. It was great years ago but now, it's crap. Something happened to the mix during the covid19 pandemic and the product has gone downhill in a major way.I bought 10 bags of this stuff a bit over a year ago. I left the bags sealed up for about 6 months to make sure it was fully composted. When I opened the bags it stank like sewerage. Even today after being in pots with plants and getting watered regularly, the liquid coming out the bottom of the pots smells terrible. It attracts flies and in particular blowflies, which land on the pots in their hundreds. Every blowfly in the neighbourhood comes to my backyard to sit in ... MoreI have been using this product for years to grow native plants because it was a basic potting mix that didn't contain fertilisers or wetting agents. Even today after being in pots with plants and getting watered regularly, the liquid coming out the bottom of the pots smells terrible. It attracts flies and in particular blowflies, which land on the pots in their hundreds. Every blowfly in the neighbourhood comes to my backyard to sit in my pots because of this potting mix. I don't use manures or any organic fertilisers. The flies are here because of this potting mix. If the pots are in trays, the liquid that comes out of the potting mix is brown, smells awful, and develops an oily scum on the surface after a few hours, and smells like an open sewer. This still happens 6 months after the I started using and watering the potting mix.It does not drain well at all. I recently lost 2 nice plants I had for years, simply because I moved them into bigger pots with this potting mix. The potting mix did not drain well and the plants developed root rot and are now dead. The potting mix appears to be nothing more than sawdust (from pine trees) and sewerage, with some poorly shredded palm fronds and sticks thrown in. The sticks range in size from 4-12 inches long x 1/2 inch diameter. It also has gravel, plastics, and various other foreign objects in it, which concern me a lot because I was exposed to asbestos dust that was put on a public park years ago and don't particularly want something like that in my potting mix.The plants have not done well in this potting mix and are only just starting to grow now, more than 6 months after they were put into this potting mix, and they are really struggling.I have been gardening since the 1970s and know how to keep plants alive, but this potting mix is testing my skills and making my plants suffer. I do not like this product anymore and will not be buying it again. BigW, you need to find another supplier because Brunnings potting mix is crap and is not suitable for any plants except perhaps marsh or swamp plants that like wet rotten roots. It is not suitable for native plants or any plants that require good drainage. I would not use this potting mix on anything I was growing for food due to the contamination in it.This product is no longer any good and I advise people looking to buy it, to find another band that is not contaminated by plastics, gravel and other man made items, and that won't kill your plants.Avoid this product because it will do nothing but cause problems.

This mix actually repels water... no matter how much you water it it just pools on top and then when it does absorb it’s dry as dust on the top again! TERRIBLE! I purchased this to try it as I usually use Searls and the seeds I planted in this mix have not come up... while the ones in the searls have. I am so disappointed.

Has a lot of rocks ranging in size from 2cm up to 7cm long. I would expect 1 or 2 being cheap potting mix but had about 30 in one bag.
I concur with previous comment it is basically black powder that doesn't drain well at all.Complete waste of money. If I could give 0 stars I would.
