This is my 2nd bug-a-salt. I bought one of the original units a out 10 years ago. It finally gave up on me. I thought it was awesome! When I received my Black Fly Edition 3.0 I was amazed by the strides that have been made. I definitely like the newer model better! It seems to be better overall quality and shoots stronger. This allows for longer distance shots and more deadly shots in a breeze because pattern stays together longer. Every time I take my Englisg Bulldog and my Frenchie outside, I always take my flyshooter. It makes for a great time killer while my dogs get their exercise. If Willow my Franchie is close, she stays very alert and eats all flies I dispatch! I call her my little bug eater!

This thing was the best $39.95 I have ever spent, hands down. With the love bug season being ridiculously bad this year, it was like being a zombie apocalypse film; outnumbered, swarms coming at you, constantly having to reload and fire. Takes out love bugs, flies, ants from quite a distance (3 to 5 ft). Wasps, spiders, and roaches require you to get the muzzle within 12 in of them, and even then it may require multiple shots to dispatch them. Has no effect on hard shell beetles or scorpions as their exoskeleton is too thick. Stick to the pesticides for them...or a really heavy boot. Only downside that I've found is that cleaning up the salt afterwards can be somewhat tedious and you have to disengage the safety selector switch every time you want to fire. Had a problem with slugs sliming my porch. Tried the usual methods spoken about on you tube. Ineffective or poor results. Then I got a bug-a-salt. No more slime because there are no more slugs! I make a killing field about 1 foot width next to the porch. with the weedwacker. After dark I start the hunt. I use coarse salt for my ammo. Surprisingly, my sights are right on. I shoot from2-3 foot distance. Light em up, and blast away! Aim for the head. One shot will take care of the smaller ones. The big fat ones will take 3 0r 4 shots to stop them dead in their slithering. Ammo is cheap and there are no bag limits or season on these critters in my state. Have fun and good hunting.
