Bit hit and miss but overall a good pram

The pram does indeed fit in the overhead compartments but does take up a lot of room. On an Aer Lingus flight we were also NOT allowed to bring it on board. I saw many Yoyos on board and yoyos are universally accepted no questions asked and I wished that I had bought the yoyo instead as I didn’t like the stress of not knowing whether I would be able to bring my pram on board or not and that it depended on what the person at the check in desk thought (regarding the size).I chose the butterfly over the yoyo mainly because I wanted the bigger basket and single hand fold. Don’t get me wrong the butterfly does have other great features too, it looks great and is very comfortable to push and manoeuvre, stands up when folded and the sun shade comes down very low protecting my daughter’s face from the sun. I also liked how my daughter sits relatively upright in it (some prams are too reclined in the most upright positions). The cons for me are:1. Not all airlines accept this on board2. A travel bag is not included or cannot even be purchased. If you are going to market this as a ‘travel pram’ then at least provide a bag or one to purchase. I managed to find a cheap black bag from IKEA that just about fit the pram. It’s a very tight fit and doesn’t zip up the whole way but does the job3. When trying to release the pram when it is folded it can sometimes stick and be hard to release4. The accessories are expensive like the bumper bar and seat covers. I read other reviews about the material of the seat pilling or bobbling very quickly so I purchased a separate bugaboo seat cover5. The seat doesn’t recline enough for when my daughter is sleeping6. The strap is too short for carrying on shoulder7. As others have said it would be great to have a small pocket8. The black metal scratches very easilyOverall the butterfly is a good pram but if you are looking to use your pram for travelling on flights then I wouldn’t recommend the butterfly. I plan on purchasing the yoyo before my next holiday but will still use the butterfly in the meantime when I bring my daughter to the shops, park etc or to run errands with.To the bugaboo pram designers: if you address the cons above when designing the next travel pram and still include the great features I mentioned above then you would have the perfect travel pram in my opinion!... I've already had to take a fabric shaver to the pilling on the seat to try and clean it up some, which definitely helped. Just returned from a 7-day vacation where we used the stroller daily and the pilling has come back again. Poor quality fabric. Finally, I wish the canopy extension was not a mesh window. I get that it was made that way for ventilation, but when baby is reclined, tired and I want him to fall asleep, the sun/light shines down right into the stroller. He definitely cannot fall asleep when the sun is shining down onto his face, so I've had to drape a thin blanket over that mesh window so that it's dark inside the stroller, in hopes he falls asleep.... Despite the claim that it is suitable for children from 6 months to toddler age, my two-plus-year-old daughter can't even sit in it without the harness while everything else seems to be falling apart. This lack of stability is a major concern for me as a parent, and it undermines my confidence in the product.Furthermore, I am disappointed by how easily the Butterfly stroller gets scratches. I have only had it for two weeks, and it already shows signs of wear and tear. This is not what I anticipated from a brand known for its durability and quality craftsmanship.Another issue I have encountered is with the wheel board attachment. It simply doesn't provide enough support, making it difficult to push the stroller smoothly. This has been quite frustrating and inconvenient during my outings with my children.Considering the significant investment I made in purchasing the Bugaboo Butterfly, I feel like it has been a waste of my money. I trusted Bugaboo as a brand and believed that the Butterfly would live up to the high standards set by your other products. Unfortunately, it has fallen short, and I am left with regret. In retrospect, I should have opted for the Yo-yo version instead. I have always had faith in Bugaboo and have been a proud advocate of your brand, but this experience has truly let me down. I sincerely hope that Bugaboo will take my feedback into consideration and work towards improving the quality and performance of the Butterfly stroller. As a devoted customer, I believe in Bugaboo's commitment to excellence and hope that my concerns will be addressed. I look forward to hearing from you and finding a resolution to this matter.... Show more

Functional compact stroller with flaws
27 August 2023
Bought this as a second stroller for on-the-go outings. Have had the stroller for two months with short walks daily.Happy with how compact and easy to fold the butterfly is. We live in the city and have to go down a front stoop of 10 steps to get to street level so it’s been nice having something light and easy to carry with one hand only.Ride is relatively smooth but wheels will get stuck on any uneven surfaces. Relative to a full size stroller, that’s an expected tradeoff we can live with.My one major complaint is with the canopy. At first I was pleased that the canopy offered so much coverage. However, it started to fall apart rather quickly. However, it started to fall apart rather quickly. After two months of moderate use, there’s now a metal wire poking out the side of the canopy (see photos) with no clear solution. This is rather disappointing considering this was among the higher priced compact strollers we considered. Furthermore, we reached out to customer service for a solution over a 7 days ago and have yet to get a response other than the automated reply that bugaboo would reach out to us within 3 days. Needless to say, they failed here.Overall, the stroller performed well out of the box, but has fallen off rather quickly with no support from the company.... Show more

Joy in a pushchair form!
26 August 2023
I brought this pushchair a little under 2 months ago and it has been a revelation! I am somewhat of a pushchair addict as I have 3 - but in my defence they all do something different. I have a running off road buggy which I love but it’s bulky. I have a travel stroller for about town that lives in my car for when I need a pushchair. But the Bugaboo was purchased for airline travel - the easiest carry on and most comfortable for my daughter. On a break to Disneyland Paris, she ended up sleeping in her bugaboo for 4 nights due to a lack of beds for the family meaning her brother had to use the travel cot meant for her. She slept soundly and still happily climbed in and out of it for the rest of the day playing! We then went off to Lanzarote and a totally different type of holiday. Admittedly we didn’t venture to the beach as that definitely would have struggled, but with everything else it was a doddle dream! It coped with the terrain, the heat, the splashing from the pool, the uneven pathways/surfaces, everything and still went in the overhead locker on the aeroplane. There were also 3 others at the same resort with different age children. The bugaboo is far superior to the Yo-yo, so if your currently contemplating which one to go for, don’t hesitate in choosing this one, there really is no competition... Show more

Not perfect. Could be improved.

The buttons to open the stroller do sometimes stick, so I have learned to jiggle them a bit vs expecting them to work right away. Opening the stroller after the buttons work is easy, but I need to kick the side rails into place with my knee after opening the stroller. It becomes automatic for me, but I wonder if this is how I am supposed to be locking the stroller rails into the open position. Also, despite the buttons being so hard to use to open the stroller, I find myself scared that I might squeeze them by accident while pushing my son in the stroller, since they are literally right where I put my hand when pushing this lightweight stroller with one hand. I wish there was a lock for these two buttons. The little strap is off center too much for comfort and I find it to be completely useless. The safety strap should be placed off to the side imo. Also, my son is in the tallest range of children who can use this seat, and is most upright in that seat, and I find that when I fold up the stroller and store it the seat back sticks out very far. Because of this, the stroller does not lay as compact as it could be in the trunk of my car, and I am concerned that the seat recline will be damaged as the stroller jostles around in the car.I haven't seen any pilling on the fabric at all like others have reported - I have the black version, bought one year ago. The fabric still looks perfect, no ripples or fluffy bits, and we use this stroller daily. All in all its a pretty ok stroller, that should have been cheaper. It needs a better button system to unlock it with a lock to keep it from being accidentally engaged during use, and the seat recline when folded needs to be improved. Also, where is the case for storing this?... Show more

Overall Best Travel Stroller on the Market
6 July 2023
This is my 3rd travel stroller (also have the Silver Cross Jet & Nuna TRVL). I’ve done a lot of research on everything available, and though there are a few features I’d have liked to see, I think the Butterfly is the best travel stroller currently on the market.Love:- Lightweight & easy to carry, and fits in the overhead on most aircraft- Feels very sturdy (some travel strollers feel very flimsy & like they can’t carry a lot; I’ve never had a problem loading up the Butterfly!) & easy to push with one hand- Separate clips for the harness (this was a surprise—I thought I’d hate it, but turns out, it makes it much easier to strap in a flailing toddler mid-tantrum!)- Large sun shade (maybe the largest for travel strollers) with mesh peek panel- Adjustable ... MoreThis is my 3rd travel stroller (also have the Silver Cross Jet & Nuna TRVL). Really great city and travel stroller

We have had this stroller for a few months and we absolutely love it. The one-handed fold is magic and the weight is perfect if you need to fold and carry a stroller up stairs or to put into the car. We have had so many situations where it has been so handy to be able to fold and carry the stroller using the shoulder strap (subway elevators/escalators out of service, etc.), and it is easy to lift onto the bus or streetcar. The large extendable canopy is amazing (completely shields the sun) and although the seat doesn’t fully recline, it is enough for baby to sleep very comfortably on our strolls. We have not had any issues with the seat fabric pilling as others have mentioned.I do wish that the handlebar was a bit taller to be able to have a stroller organizer ... MoreWe have had this stroller for a few months and we absolutely love it. We have not had any issues with the seat fabric pilling as others have mentioned.I do wish that the handlebar was a bit taller to be able to have a stroller organizer attached comfortably - it is very tight between the handlebar and canopy. Also, the original position of the shoulder strap is in an awkward place where it makes the strap too short and hard to find/stuck once the stroller is folded. However, I figured out that the strap can be moved to a better location on the bottom stroller (closer to the front) making it longer and easier to find!Hoping that we can use this stroller year-round but not sure if the small wheels will be able to handle any amount of snow. We have the Bugaboo footmuff and the stroller does fold with it on.... Show more

Stroller is GREAT! Accessories need help.

My family has been using the Bugaboo Butterfly stroller for less than a month, but I can tell you we are very happy with it overall. We had a different brand that we bought specifically for air travel but it was complicated to open and close. The Butterfly can be opened and closed with one hand and has a generous storage bin for its compact size. It's incredibly easy to maneuver with one hand. The strap system is way easier than other strollers we have tried also. Since all 4 disconnect from the buckle you don’t have to slip arms in and out of looped straps. Each strap is independently adjustable too which is really convenient since kids are constantly wiggling and wearing different clothes all the time. Each strap is independently adjustable too which is really convenient since kids are constantly wiggling and wearing different clothes all the time. Some reviews mention the seat fabric starting to pill within a month but we aren’t seeing that at all. I relocated the shoulder strap to a more convenient place and that has been very helpful. The stroller came with a rain cover which is a nice thought but attaches with velcro so it’s time consuming and can’t be done with one hand. Magnets might be better.Since this stroller is marketed as airplane cabin compliant I’m not sure why a travel bag isn’t available. Other brands that advertise the same capability have sling and backpack style bags as carry and storage options. Designing a bag to fit around a compact stroller should be easy, so the fact that Bugaboo doesn’t have one is really disappointing. We also bought the stroller organizer and the cup holder. The organizer is really nice and very convenient for quick trips to the bathroom and carrying extra snacks. Again with the velcro though. An element that could be replaced with magnets. For the price and reputation that Bugaboo carries, I just feel like the cheap, standard elements need to be upgraded to easier functionality. The cup holder is basic and, like the other reviews state, falls off regularly when folding and storing the trunk. That has been true of all the stroller cup holders I’ve used. Again, something that Bugaboo could improve. The cup holder does come apart to allow for carrying larger circumference items but was NOT easy to get back together. Basically, it’s nothing special but convenient to have.... Show more

Very practical but not fitting in the airplane compartiment and poor fabric...

This isn't our first Bugaboo product or Bugaboo stroller, but this one has changed our daily life! It is a great day to day product, especially if you don't live on a ground floor. Very practical, light and compact. We love the design, the color, and most importantly, our son seems very comfortable in it.However, we've already encountered 2 main issues with it:- we actually bought this stroller to travel as we have to fly frequently and the product promise was to fit in the hand lugage compartiments. But this unfortunately wasn't the case when we flew 3 days after we bought it...- Also, echoing a lot of previous commentaries, the sit material started to be damaged after 2 uses of the stroller (and our son didn't even wear shoes...) and the frame shoes marks ... MoreThis isn't our first Bugaboo product or Bugaboo stroller, but this one has changed our daily life!
