We hunt caribou in a non-motorized area and this trailer has made the process much safer and enjoyable. I exceeded the weight limit and put about 150 lbs on the trailer on the way out this year and the trailer handled it very well. Slight uphills and flats were almost easier with the extra momentum actually! The trail is just 6 miles of double track, but has some very rocky sections, boot-topping stream crossings, and close to 20 mph descents... rough enough that my homemade kayak-wheel based trailer was destroyed on it last year.I've used it since on a longer ride with dirt and paved trails and really noticed minimal resistance and no real loss in my maneuverability. Definitely a good product that I will mostly keep using in the backcountry hauling salmon and caribou.

I recently purchased a Flatbed to replace my recently sold Surly Big Dummy, and I wish I had bought it years ago. With a small tote, I can carry a full grocery cart full of supplies with ease! It's relatively light weight, and all of the bikes in my fleet can tow the trailer. I recently made a run to the hardware store to pick up 2x4s, and the trailer got everything home in one piece. In addition to being able to haul a weeks worth of groceries, I love the trailer's removable wheels, which make for simple storage.

Burley does not yet make an adapter for this size - and neither does any one else (tried many companies that sell adapters - nothing). I have cobbled together some other fittings and washers to compensate. Looks like a Rube Goldberg assembly. I have contacted my bike manufacturer about this and they said they were sorry and some one would contact me. Not holding my breath for that. Delivery time from Burley was reasonable. Packaging was good & the product was protected. Assembly of the trailer was simple & straight forward. Mounting the receiver to the bike is easy but I wish the instructions were a bit more clear. Even with that being said from opening the box to the trailer assembled & mounted to my bike was less than 20 minutes.I've used it twice now, each time to take paddle boards on rough gravel roads to a local lake, a 5 mile round trip. It has worked great for this. Completely loaded it handles well. I assume the high quality tires and wheels have a lot to do with that. Excellent product and correspondence.Great features with easy set up and take down. Would like a locking mechanism as option in future, also if side braces were removable, that could be a nice feature.The ease of wheel removal is outstanding.
I just completed a tour from Eugene to Astoria to Fort Bragg California. I bought this trailer because I didn't have panniers suitable for the task, and I didn't want to carry my gear on my bike. The flatbed was easy to load, extremely stable, and convenient to use. The 31 inch width was never a problem on any of Oregon's notoriusly narrow coastal bridges. Occasionally hitting road debris like bark, shredded tires, potholes etc. never caused any handling issues or damage. At speed the trailer tracked perfectly and never pushed my bike around or negativly affected the handling in any way, even while riding in the rain. It's eay to forget it's there except for the quiet clicking sound of the hitch pin. This timeless design will do what it should... carry your stuff without issue. The system is light and robust. We have gone beyond rated capacity on more than one occasion. While we do not use the function, it packs down to a small footprint for storage or transport quickly and without tools. The tires run forever and we've never had a flat. What else could you want? We use this in a commercial setting so we run the equipment hard.
Rather than buy another Cargo bike, I decided to turn my Specialized Vado into a cargo bike. With the flatbed and a wood cart I built, I can now carry 4 beach chairs, 1 umbrella, a cooler and much more to the beach. I also bought the Burely 16+ wheel kit which works great in the deep sand of Socal. I've hooked up hitches to both our Benno Boost and Vado and can now carry the fun me on the bike.

I was disappointed to find that the newer version of this trailer is missing two useful features of the one that was stolen: 1. The older model had two sets of built-in straps for securing cargo. Now you have to improvise your own tie-downs, which is much less convenient. 2. The aluminum frame on the older model extended about 8 inches in front of the cargo bed, thus expanding the useful capacity of the trailer. Without that extension, hauling bulky items is more difficult. Two or three times, a wheel has come off while I was towing the trailer, and I recently had the opposite problem: a sticky mechanism that made it very difficult to remove a wheel to change a tire. Finally, my trailer's flex connector, which joins the tow bar to the hitch, is made of plastic and has broken twice with frequent use. (Replacement parts are available.) Despite its drawbacks, I believe the Burley flatbed trailer is the best cargo trailer currently on the market.
My new work truck!I live in a small village in Alaska and have not owned a motor vehicle in over a decade. This little trailer is now one of the most handy things I own.So far I have used it to haul firewood, move tools to and from jobsites, move to sofas, haul gear for camping trips, and even to launch a boat.It seems strudy so far. No more ridiculous loads on my back. Now I just need to figure out how to hitch it to my carbon bike.
