Discover the CARTEL X snowboard binding by Burton. This binding has the same characteristics as its counterpart CARTEL, but with a slightly different composition to make it lighter and stiffer. It has a nylon and fiberglass base (45% compared to 30% for the CARTEL) which offers better sensations on the snow as well as better transmission. Its 6/10 mid-range flex makes this binding reactive while still allowing a certain tolerance. The angle of its spoiler is adjustable. Thus, with a vertical angle, the board becomes more playful and more forgiving. Conversely, the more the angle is closed, the more nervous your board will become and your edging will be simplified to allow you to fully engage the steepest slopes. The Hammockstrap 2.0 ankle strap perfectly encompasses your foot without worrying about an unpleasant pressure point. This strap is reversible, allowing you to choose between a soft or firm hold. The Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 front strap hugs your shoe for ideal boot support. Finally, this binding has a relatively firm cushioning of 7/10 thanks to an EVA foam and a B3 Gel to reduce fatigue and give you a more pleasant glide. This binding is compatible with the 4*4 and Burton The Channel systems. The CARTEL X binding by Burton is perfect for those looking for a lightweight, responsive and versatile binding.

Needed some new bindings to go on a LIB TEC Orca that could take a lot of torque and hold up well. The Burton Cartels were recommended to me and they have been everything people said. They offer great control with the toe cup hugging the boot well and transmit rider feeling from the mountain really well, and with just enough damping to make it smooth and reliable without being mushy. My only concern is that on the ankle strap there is a potential week spot in the form of a crease that I could see not lasting for the long haul, but I only suspect it, its certainly not an issue now, and that strap is cheap and easy to replace, so no great issue. Thats why I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

It has been well, decades since I have purchased new hard gear. My boyfriend raved about the Burton Cartel Bindings. I did alot of research and liked everything I read about these bindings. The highbacks are super comfortable and though they offer amazing support I was never really conscious of them which for me, lends to that free feelin when I am riding. The foam insert padding on the bottom of the footbed added another element of comfort and loved how these bindings really allowed me to feel my board! Easy ratcheting straps for quick tightening and release. Front strap hugs around the toe bed which was new for me, but YES - MORE ability to really feel the board beneath my feet. I wear a women's size 7 boot and got the small and gthey are perfect. Get these - you ... MoreIt has been well, decades since I have purchased new hard gear. I was super excited to repace 15-year-old cartels until I went to mount them on my snowboard. The new reflex discs do not allow for horizontal adjustment on a standard 4x2 snowboard hole pattern, so I cannot get the stance I had with my old binding. Now I am in a position where I need to choose different bindings or get a different snowboard. I am bummed because the bindings look amazing.

Great bindings for Sasquatch
14 November 2022

I'm a heavier rider at 240 all geared up. I ride the whole mountain with my Ride Super Pig 158 and Ride Insano boots. . I've tried a lot of bindings but still come back to Burton Cartels. These are my first Cartel X series and they seem to work as good as the originals. They do feel a tiny bit stiffer but still have a a good feel. I prefer a medium flex binding and stiffer boot. I find it to be a surfy yet responsive feel. The Cartels have yet to let me down. They could be lighter but they aren't that heavy and seam to dampen the vibrations a little. They are very expensive but the best stuff often is.

Great bindings, but worth upgrading the the Cartel X
17 March 2023

These are amazing bindings, I've had many generations of Cartel bindings. However for the extra money I would recommend upgrading to the Cartel X's. The heal cup, and a few other features make a huge difference. The only thing I don't like is the new flex plates extremely limit the options for stance configuration. I was forced to ride with a 1/2" smaller or larger stance then what I prefer, because the plate hole pattern is extremely limited with the flex feature.

Great do everything binding
14 February 2022

Great binding. Super comfortable straps. I was skeptical about the toe strap but I've grown to like it a lot since it give you the support of on the toe and over the toe with one strap. I also liked the forward lean adjustment not being limited to a few pre-determined angles and being able to move the ankle strap higher up the binding for more support. My only dislike was the limited stance width adjustments coming from someone who has only ridden Union bindings before and having the option to slide the bindings towards or away from each other after mounting them.

I think I'll keep em'

I have had a great time on this bindings! They are a great happy medium in term of flex (in my opinion.) They are stiff enough to have great responsiveness at high speeds but also soft enough to butter and jib around the mountain at slower speeds. The heel hammock on it offers a great sense of support and engagement and paired with the EST channel system it offers superior board feel. You will notice that both EST is a +/- for me. Reason being for the board feel (+) but the channel screws seems to come loose here and there on my harder days of riding. Not a huge deal since you can simply tighten them with a screwdriver on mountain but nonetheless, can get annoying sometimes .

The Cartel runs deep
31 January 2023

The Cartel has been a staple in the Burton lineup for over a decade, it continues to be one of the best grab and go bindings that you can depend on. The X series takes it up a notch with a stiffer highback, allowing you to really lean into those heelside carves and slashes. I rode these on a Burton board so I opted for the EST model. If you have foot pain this is something you'll really want to consider! Having only foam between you and the board instead of a bunch of plastic and metal screws can really reduce foot fatigue and allows for great board feel.If you like ripping the whole mountain and are looking for a new set of bindings to click into and not worry about these are a top choice!

Using them (the original version) since 2018
13 February 2022

The Cartel X are equivalent to the older Cartel bindings in terms of stiffness with an improved high back support, being the Cartel non-X an EST alternative to the Mission bindings. They are not a replacement of the Genesis X bindings. From 4 years of usage, these have to be one of the best bindings out there in terms of quality and durability. I use my Cartel set mostly for free ride and all mountain and it’s a great set for those who occasionally snowboard within this style and dont want to go all budget crazy over the Genesis or the Burton X bindings.

Hell yeah, I've been riding the basic Cartel for years now and I'm still loving it especially for freeriding but also for riding kickers. And now my favourite binding received a high-end performance upgrade. For my boots size EU 42.5 the binding size M is perfect.More precision, more power, more fun in snowboarding! Everything in this binding just works so fine. The footbed is perfectly dampened, the straps feel super comfortable, are easy to adjust and the buckles never let you down. For my personal riding, the highback has the most perfect blend of really tons of stiffness with just the right amount of flexibility. In powder I have a strong and responsive binding that won't make my feet get tired after a couple of runs and that reacts on every single move I make. ... MoreHell yeah, I've been riding the basic Cartel for years now and I'm still loving it especially for freeriding but also for riding kickers. When approaching a kicker or landing a jump, it provides perfect control, hold and support. A little downside is the forward lean adjustment, which is still a bit clumsy, especially when wearing mittens. The Cartel X is lighter and stronger than the Cartel, and I would definitely recommend it to experienced riders who know what they are doing. This binding is a super responsive high-performance machine which should of course be used with stiffer boots and boards.
