These have to be the most versatile boots in the Burton range. The all-mountain men's Ruler Boa boots are THE safe bet for any intermediate to advanced level riders and will even work well for the most nervous of beginners. If you choose Burton Ruler Boa boots you'll get pure snowboarding joy everywhere you go. The Imprint 2 liner offers guaranteed comfort. The Total Comfort construction adapts to your shape from the very first ride. There'll be no unpleasant pinch points to hinder your progress. The Ruler Boa boots perform in a similar way to the Burton Ions but are much more affordable. There's no compromise on the quality of the riding though. In terms of lacing, the Boa system ensures a secure fit that will not move all day long. Note that the Boa version of the Ruler may feel slightly stiffer than the fast lacing version. It also differentiates between the upper and lower lacing areas of the boots, for a precise fit.The Ruler Boa protects from the cold, is shock absorbent and will generally be your greatest ally wherever your adventures take you: off piste, snowpark, black run, backcountry - you'll do it all full throttle!

Awesome boots

These boots are great! They fit true to size, the inner mold feels great and keeps feet warm with one pair of socks. No break-in needed with these boots and the BOA system makes quick work of straping in. I literally wore these all day for a week in the rockies, walking and boarding with no issues or foot fatigue. Happy I made this upgrade!

I love these boots, and I have owned some terrible and wonderful boots over the years. I'm am east coast riding, so I'm half dead in my mid-30's, from taking hits in the LACK of pow haha. These boots keep me well supported while riding in a variety of conditions. While they are (maybe) unsuitable for an absolute beginner and certainly no good for a pro, hitting huge gaps and needing ultra-stiffness to make their setup precise enough for aggressive pipe-slaying, they are perfect for those that are not looking to get the gold metal in a big air comp. I don't think that you can currently do much better in this bracket. These are my first Boa boots, and Burton's warranty on all their Boa systems made me drastically more comfortable switching over. If you're riding all the time, you may have an older pair of boots laying around? Bring them in your trunk and Burton will fix the Boa system if it were to fail. Another thing that I believe is worth mentioning, is that there seems to be something missing with Burton's communication with its customers- as we have all started buying online, there is no one to reassert that the boots should be quite SNUG, at least when you when you first get them! They break in about a half a size with use- but only in all the right spots. I've been riding since the mid 90's and these are my favorite resort boots so far. I'm heading towards 40 and getting a bit less demanding of having the best of the best- therefore I didn't spend $500 plus on boots. The will suit 9 out of 10 all around riders, looking to do a bit of everything, without sacrificing comfort! As for size, I just bought my shoe size 10.5- I don't vary much on that, but for reference some shoes that I also wear in a 10.5 are Nike, Supra, Timberland, Reebok. These felt snug as I said, but as long as you can fit in without immediate discomfort from the sides, heal or toe, you should be all set👍

I've been riding with the Ruler for the last 7 years and my original pair finally broke, so these are the replacement. Awesome boots. They are super lightweight, comfortable out of the box and the boa system is great. The green is a really nice color too, looks great in person. #sweepstakes

Great all around boot
22 March 2021

These boots were my first new pair. Was rocking older low end boots that were too big by nearly 2 sizes. When I got these from EVO, they look clean and very appealing to the eye with the faded colors. First 2 days in them I got them hot and did calf raises in the house to get the toes to bend more. Been on the mountain with them 6-7 times and they're incredibly comfy and my feet stay dry from all types of snow.Fair warning; the first few times you put them on that can be a little rough as most boots are. Highly advise trying your best to break in before actually going up the lifts to make it more enjoyable. I have very flat feet so they are a little narrow for me but after packing them as much as I have currently, it's leagues ahead of what I was used to using. I do recommend to anyone looking to a good mid range boot for the universal rider who do not need a boot for one specific style of riding.

Great boots
18 April 2022

Super great boots. Personally I like reletively soft boot, I do park and all mountain, hit (double and even triple) diamond, side hits, natural dorp/jumps, grabing 180/360s on midium jumps. Basically I do every thing. The ruler boots are great, they provide enough response on the slopes and when loose them a little bit they give me tolerance in park. The best thing I like is I just need a step and push a little after getting off the lift before start riding.

Great boots for budget
8 February 2022

Need to replace my old Moto after a few seasons and decided on the Ruler. They are quite light, easy to put on, and close with the Boa system. The flex is indeed mid and feels just perfect for me. The boots deliver what is promised – perfect for advanced beginners and better casual riders, that for a good budget. They run true to size, so if you are in-between sizes, go with a half number larger. I have 26.6 Mondo and thought to take 26.5 (8.5) to have a snug fit, but my toes did hit hard in any position, even without socks. Now waiting for the 27.0 (9.0) which should fit perfectly.

Great boots, would recommend

Feels more stiff than the K2 Raiders but I love these for the fact that they do not hurt my ankles like the K2 Raiders do. This boot also wicks sweat way better than the K2 Raiders whose liners feel like a soggy mess at the end of the day. Double boa is great, heat reflective bottom is wonderful! Worth the extra money. This also comes in Size 6!

Men's size 10 US too small
12 January 2023

Have been rocking 20 yo Burton Hail snowboard boots (men's size 10 US) and decided to give the Ruler BOA a try. Picked them up at my local REI yesterday, took them home and tried them on. While they seem like a solid boot and everything the size 10 I ordered are too small. Really uncomfortable getting them on. Ordered a 10.5 so I'll update this review once I get the replacements.Update: The 10.5 Men's US are a winner.

Other comments were right to warn about sizing up, my toes brushed the tips when I first put em on, and I ordered half size up already. Decided to try them figuring they'd break in and so far have immensely enjoyed! Especially:-light weight (been using them for skinning recently, with ski hills closed)-decent flex, enough to feel supported but not restricted, but I'm a hiker not a park tweaker-double BOA, first time user, instant fan. big improvement over single BOA-velcro on liner - it's the little things that sometimes make the big difference. Especially skinning, but prob hiking too, it's great to have a liner that stay well sealed to your foot for no chafe, but allows looser fit to trek in. And BOA makes retightening on the go pretttty darn easy.Only used ... MoreOther comments were right to warn about sizing up, my toes brushed the tips when I first put em on, and I ordered half size up already. Seems like this quality level should be standard (cheaper) by now, but no real complaints!

Burton ruler is definitely the lightest boot in the same price class. Not like other brands, burton provide very light and compact but very warm breathable and comfortable material on this boot. You can heat molded not only liner also the shell, which will be shaped as your feet’s shape and provides you perfect comfort. Ruler also has a medium stiff (5) flexibility.
