With all the new Cadbury products lining the shelves at Poundland recently, I was surprised to find another one nestled in with the chocolate bars. This is Dairy Milk Silk, which is like Dairy Milk but smoother apparently. Upon further research I discovered that this isn't a new UK product, but in fact an established brand in South Africa and India. Not that that's disappointing, it's nice to get some import stuff for a low price.Well, this is Dairy Milk, which is always a good start. Looking at the list of ingredients, they're identical to your classic Dairy Milk bar, so I guess it's a slight change in ratios or production that give this a smoothness, It may have just been my brain expecting a different taste, but this bar does seem to possess a different texture ... MoreWith all the new Cadbury products lining the shelves at Poundland recently, I was surprised to find another one nestled in with the chocolate bars. It is somewhat thinner and smoother in shape than the chunky UK bar, and it seems to melt in the mouth slightly faster. I also detected a bit more sweetness than I'm used to, despite the overall texture being smooth there was a hint of sugary grittiness, which isn't too bad, but it didn't sit well with me in comparison to the classic. This bar is an interesting one. What exactly makes it different from the UK Dairy Milk? The shape? The process? The South African milk? Or is it all in my mind? All I can say is that while it's still some very good chocolate, it doesn't quite match the original. It's worth trying out for yourselves though.

I like many Aussie kids grew up and enjoyed Cadburys since the 1950`s. The catch cry once was "a glass and a half of full cream milk in every block"! It now tastes disgusting, packaging size has also been reduced by stealth. Why has a successful Australian recipe we loved been changed? It seems a typical occurrence today that many of our heritage flavours have been changed in the name of political correctness! The wider Australian community established this business and made it successful. They should have the original recipe, an alternate could be made available to appease minorities not the other way. I won't be eating this TRASH, the minorities can have it. The Question after the review. Were you offered a reward for the review? The answer is yes my TASTE buds!

I have always gone for quality over quantity when it comes to chocolate. Dairy milk is really rich and creamy and is definitely my preferred brand of chocolate. I kept in in the fridge as the weather is a bit warm which meant it melted slower when i ate it. A delicious bar of chocolate. I received this as part of a promotion

Cadbury rabbit tricks are for kids! 😘 Thank you for this year, Cadbury rabbit and also for all the blessings I've been able to share with everyone over the great taste of your all so most loving desired chocholate. That's what I rate it! I hope that's okay with you! I would definetly try it again. 🙂
About 2 yrs ago, Hershey's changed the formula of Cadbury's chocolate and it now does not taste like Cadbury's should. I know because I've been buying it for years and I have definitely noticed the change. The new recipe is vile-- sickly sweet, not as smooth, harder and gritty in texture. They even changed the way the slab looked. It is so sad. I stopped buying it here in the U.S. and now get it from Britain, where is it has not been altered. Shame on you Hershey's.
The new recipe (first found in my store 2/2022) is soft, with none of the classic waxy snap of the old bar. Additionally, the texture is nearly chewy... it sticks to your teeth in an unpleasant manner. The worst though, is the cheap finish; it's rough and grainy like all the inferior Hershey chocolate bars. It's like they decided to take the nibs out of the melanger 12 hours early to save money. Heck, add a little fermentation, and this would probably be identical to a Hershey bar. Yuck. Thanks for ruining a chocolate staple that I've eaten for years. I guess I'll have to import the UK version to get decent chocolate from the famous purple wrapper. Please don't follow in the footsteps of Butterfinger and destroy the core following with change for the sake of ... MoreThe new recipe (first found in my store 2/2022) is soft, with none of the classic waxy snap of the old bar. It's been years and still I order my Cadbury's Chocolate from overseas. Hershey's has cut corners and changed the recipe. It's not a Cadbury, it's an awful flavor and I wont be buying anything Hershey's because of it. Not a fan, a real shame if you ask me. They USED to make good chocolate, I'd honestly pay more for Hershey's to go back to the old recipe and source whole ingredients.
Dairy Milk is a classic with an instantly recognisable flavour, which I haven't had in a while. I was quite disappointed when I tried it. Although it was similar to how I remember it, the chocolate flavour was weak and the texture was quite thick and claggy when it melted. I bought this as part of a promotion.
English made chocolates are generally a little more flavorful and less sweet. US made Cadbury's is sweeter but still pretty good. The bar is thinner than ever though. Also, many Cadbury's specialty treats are only available through importwers, if at all. (I'm looking at you, Flake) So this may serve to fill the need...
Smooth, creamy and delicious as always! I don’t know what these other reviewers are talking about, but the recipe tastes exactly as it has for years. Oh, and I’ve had the European version of this chocolate bar and found it to be far INFERIOR to the version made in the US. European version had a weird aftertaste and did not taste much of chocolate.
