Everyone else I knew loved this game and had only good things to say about it but I couldn’t get past the beginning, I found it so boring. I wasn’t really into military games at the time. Grand Theft Auto and Morrowind were my favorite XBox games. And Fable, Indigo Prophecy, Voodoo Vince, some horror themed games... it’s been too long since I’ve played XBox. But this game would probably be an excellent choice for someone who is into military games or a fan of the series. People would wait on the edge of their seats when a new Call Of Duty came out and then they’d disappear into their console for weeks.

Let me start by saying that I am not even a fan on consoles at all. Yet, when I found a PS3 for dirt-cheap, I decided to keep it precisely so I could try/play this game (I've watched play-throughs and read a lot about the game, so I knew exactly what I was getting). And I am glad that I did. To date, I think this is THE game with the BEST STORY PLOT - it just draws you in. It's like watching a great movie AND also being part of the action. Moreover, there's depth to the characters and who they are. Unlike many modern games that suffer from cheesy conversations and over-exaggerated protagonists/antagonists, this game is exactly the opposite. The story is a bit heavy (some will say even depressing), so beware of that if you are looking for a "happily ever after" -type ... MoreLet me start by saying that I am not even a fan on consoles at all. As for the graphics - they are great, especially considering how old the PS3 hardware is now. It's not as good as the new games that are coming out now, but I don't think that matters much, because once the game's story pulls you in, you really won't be paying any attention to the graphics. Anyways, in short, I think this game was worth every penny of the $13 I paid for it (including the shipping). I just wish it wasn't a PS3/PS4 exclusive, because it's really hard for me to learn aiming/shooting with those pesky console controllers (as a PC gamer, using a mouse makes so much more sense). That said, I am now considering the possibility of dumping another $30-40 on a keyboard-mouse converter for the PS3 just so that I can play this game "properly" :) . So I think that should tells you how much I care about this game.

Another excellent FPS game from Activision.

As you progress through the game you will notice some subtle visual similarities to some of the previous "Call of Duty" games. These minor similarities don't detract from the enjoyment of the game though. On the contrary - any similarities do give you a "comforting" sense that you are playing an "Activision" game. I am only an average "gamer" - a bit slow on the controls! and I don't play on-line (the multiplayer) option, so I cannot comment about this area pf play. All I can say is that I have found "Call of Duty 4" - Modern Warfare" to be another really good game from "Activision." The gaming controls are very easy to master, There aren't too many confusing options to choose from, and the introductions to each battle scenario are not too long. You can get straight into the action very quickly. I've been though the the three "Acts" in the game (each "Act" contains several interjoined action episodes) twice now, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The game works with Windows 7 (Home Premium). (the game took about three hours to up-load (from the supplied CD disc that comes with the game). I don't know if it will work with any other Windows versions (although I got all my other four "Call of Duty" games to work - I had to delete one Windows security update (I cannot tell you which one as it might compromise my computer to any "hackers"). However, you can go on the Internet and get all the information you require to get the game up and running on your particular PC. All in all I feel that I can thoroughly recommend this game to all. Awesome game. here are a number of reasons I enjoy gaming on my PC. I enjoy the versatility of modding, I like being able to upgrade my system at will, and sometimes the good ole mouse and keyboard just cant be beat. However the real reason that Ive shifted most of my gaming away from consoles and onto my desktop is the raw originality and passion present in the myriad of small independent games released every month. The freedom and self-direction granted by the relative ease of publishing on PC has resulted in some of the most original, intimate, and memorable titles Ive ever played. The Swapper, developed by the small Helsinki-based studio Facepalm Games, is a prime example of all of these things, delivering an experience that Im not going to forget anytime soon. ... MoreAwesome game. here are a number of reasons I enjoy gaming on my PC. The Swapper, developed by the small Helsinki-based studio Facepalm Games, is a prime example of all of these things, delivering an experience that Im not going to forget anytime soon. In its simplest form, The Swapper tells a story that hardly sounds revelatory or particularly unique. You are an astronaut, and its your job to figure out just what happened to cause a fully staffed space station to be almost completely wiped out. Throughout your journey youll traverse diverse environments ranging from jungle-like greenhouses, rocky mining zones, home-y crew quarters and beyond in the search for survivors, orbs to unlock doors, and answers. The beauty, however, lies in how the story is told. I absolutely love that the game never felt the need to over-explain things or shove them in my face. Subtlety is key, with the truth being revealed through a mix of occasional computer logs, infrequent dialogue, and clues in the environment. The more you pay attention, the more nuanced the games story and world become, and I wish more developers would have enough faith in their audiences intelligence to let us connect the dots ourselves. It also doesnt add any fluff to the narrative to try and add artificial length. Only clocking in at about five hours, the game can be completed in an evening or two, but by not being afraid to let the game be what it is length-wise, it maintains its wonderful tone and pacing without interruption.

Continuing the story of Price and Soap, this one pushes your emotions in a way video game stories havent done before. Gameplay is solid, but a few campaigns took from movies which made you either roll your eyes or play along with more fervor. Whiskey Hotel floored me before I knew what Whiskey Hotel stood for in military code. This game was a masterful continuation of the best FPS of all time in COD4. Im going to miss grinding out actual achievements rather than buying loot boxes of today. I play these older games. Not BO3 or 4, not AW or IW nor that crap Ghosts... COD jumped the shark when it went too futuristic. I gave up on it after AW and didnt bother with WWII. These MW games are for players to play...not line Activisions pocketbook with micro transactions. ... MoreContinuing the story of Price and Soap, this one pushes your emotions in a way video game stories havent done before. Buy A Tent Too, You're Gonna Need To Set Camp

I love first person shooters. Call of duty has the same game play and probably always will. Don't expect much different from previous games. More perks which now evolve into better perks. You can choose your 3 kill streaks and even end the game with a nuke if you camp well enough and kill 25 people before dying. The biggest difference you'll notice is the mass amount of camping areas the game has to offer. If you like playing games like halo (where you can take 2 + people head on at a time with your skill at aim and strafing mixed with some variation of cleverness) You will not be using the same logic in this game. You will almost never down 2 people who are facing you with just your aim. Just expect to set up camp and hold a gun down some hallway. Otherwise, you ... MoreI love first person shooters. Cons: CAMP CAMP CAMP, SPAWN KILLED, Addictive game with no satisfaction, Prestige doesn't get you anything and your skill isn't measured by prestiging, you just have to play a bunch. If you don't have certain perks you can easily get spotted by a UAV or shot down off spawn by any number of flying objects. Game play isn't consistent Overall, the game is fun to mess around with but can get frustrating quickly.

Great DS game for beginners
24 June 2016

Just bought a used DS and don't know what games to play? Start with "New Super Mario Bros." which is hands down one of the best titles in the series. The game makes great use of both DS screens, is colorful/immersive, and provides hours of entertainment on the go or when you're bored. Among this game are some other DS classics I recommend looking into: - Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: In my opinion one of the best Pokemon games ever released. Great for people who like RPGs and adventures. - Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time: This game follows the story of Mario and Luigi who go back in time to... Well, i'll let you find out for yourself. PS3 LAST OF US - Standard Edition 2012
5 December 2019

Great graphics, story, sound design, and challenging. It was the last truly great single player game of the PS3 console, and it did set the bar rather high - though PS4/XB1 consoles have largely not delivered better me thinks. Although for platformers, the somewhat quiet release of Puppeteer was tops of that genre, go get it if you havent played it. I found Last of Us compelling, engaging, and challenging, more than others of this genre. LOU is better than the Uncharted series, C'mon! In fact, I got stumped and replayed scenes a few times to get it right. I did feel some parts of the game can be frustrating, yet overall I found it extremely fun. That said, it's way friendlier than horror genre games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, so don't let a little thing like a pitch black room full of slinking, mushroom-faced monsters hold ya back. I had forgotten that I still have my PS3 Slim, and Last of Us (among other titles), so I will give it another go before selling it this holiday. You should be able to pick this game up now, 12/2019, for under 15, used. Puppeteer goes for like 23. If XB1 or PS4 is getting old (and it has for me), you could migrate to Nintendo Switch for a change (Ive so missed Mario Bros and Kart) - ack! that console holds its value tho, or revisit PS3 or even Wii very economically. Nothing will get my to repurchase a used Xbox 360 however lol bah humbug

Proper combination of survival horror and cinematic storytelling

It seems like this game has been reviewed to death by now but eBay invited me to review it so I will. There are a lot of "cinematic games" coming out these days that are lacking in real gameplay but The Last Of Us doors a great job of making a compelling story driven game work as an actual game too, which is unfortunately pretty rare. Even on normal difficulty I was often challenged before I learned the layout and quirks of a particular stage which made me feel both as if I could have completed it "better" than I did and/or that I might enjoy reading on a higher difficulty. This brings me to my only complaint about this game. All of this implied replayability and sometimes "less than ideal" completion conditions on certain stages and especially the ending have me ... MoreIt seems like this game has been reviewed to death by now but eBay invited me to review it so I will. Silent Hill on PlayStation 1 it is not. It's still a great game but it would be nice if it was just a little more like Heavy Rain and if Heavy Rain was a lot more like The Last Of Us but by modern gaming standards I still can comfortably say this is a 5 star game.

Well Worth Playing...
10 August 2017

I played Modern Warfare years ago on the PS3 and class it as a pretty flawless experience. So when I picked up a 2nd hand Wii recently, I was curious to how such a grand PS3 game translated to a console with the power of a PS2. On the whole the game is very impressive. Lets start with the graphics, I played my Wii using a component cable allowing playback at 480p on a HD monitor, and in this mode the games looks really good, its looks like a PC version of the game running on lower settings. The characters, levels and weapons are all the same as the PS3/360 versions, in fact its hard to see where the Wii's hardware lets it down. The only time I could see the Wii struggling is in some of the larger battles, you only end up fighting a few enemies, before the game loads ... MoreI played Modern Warfare years ago on the PS3 and class it as a pretty flawless experience. The characters, levels and weapons are all the same as the PS3/360 versions, in fact its hard to see where the Wii's hardware lets it down. The only time I could see the Wii struggling is in some of the larger battles, you only end up fighting a few enemies, before the game loads more in. The controls are maybe one of the weakest parts of the game. The Wiimote is a great piece of kit, its accurate and responsive, however the level design of the game is the same as the PS3/360 versions. So there are times when the control set up really lets it down, for example there is no 'quick turn', your character will turn when you point the Wiimote at the left or right of the screen, but this turn is slower than a traditional controller, as such when you enter a building and find an enemy in the corner (or behind you) it takes forever to turn to attack them, this can lead to many deaths. The game desperately needed a 'classic controller' or 'gamecube controller' option for those players who just want to chill on the sofa playing a bit of COD. As have to stand and move about means you only get through a few levels at a time. Multiplayer; Lets be clear there is no offline multiplayer at all, which is a bit of a downer but you can understand that the Wii is already punching above its weight just playing the game. However as of 08/2017 there is still online multiplayer severs up and running, which came as a big surprise, but is very cool to play online almost a decade later. Replay value; With no offline multiplayer, and infuriating controls there is little to do after the main campaign and that control issue means playing it through at anything higher than medium difficulty is going to take some serious dedication. Overall the game is good fun, and for the most part the new control system does add to the overall gameplay. For a few quid its worth picking up, and makes for a good party game, passing over the controller when you die on a campaign level, and seeing your mates who've mastered other console versions of Modern Warfare, just fall about like idiots, and getting furious trying to get through levels on easy difficulty.
