I recently bought a Cambridge Audio amp to replace an aged Technics amp that I'd thought was well past its best. I was so pleased with it that I couldn't wait to upgrade my stop gap Denon CD player. I like my HiFi to match. Both items look cool and understated by together they sound amazing. I'm no audiophile but I know that when I play a favourite album and I hear things I never knew were there. On all accounts this is a five star recommendation. The only minor gripe is that the remote controls for both only work with their associated unit. I might be missing something but I can't get the amp with all the CD buttons to work on the CD player. FOR: Looks, sound, value. AGAINST: Remotes not interchangeable.

I will admit that I have always been in the “vinyl is final” camp. On my previous system — my dad’s 1990s receiver and 5-disc CD player, and 1980s Fisher turntable — vinyl records always sounded like the superior media to my ears. Flash forward to 2022, where I am finally able to afford a decent setup of my own. In comes the Cambridge AXA35 and the AXC35. Holy cow! I never knew CDs could sound so good. CDs have always been a convenient way to listen to music for me (think Walkman in the 90s and lousy car speakers) — not an audiophile media. I am now struggling to make my records sound as clear as my CDs. The AXC35 has made my CD collection my new preferred avenue of listening to music. I realize that not all records are mastered/cut the same (I also purchased the U-Turn Audio Plus with Ortofon 2M Red and Klipsch RP 160M speakers, for anyone who is doing their own research on budget systems). But I have yet to put a CD into the AXC35 that hasn’t sounded like a million bucks. I am not a rich man, and I will likely never get to hear a high-end system with an upscale turntable, a CD transport or top-tier speakers — but that’s okay. If the AXA35 and AXC35 are as good as it gets for me, I will die a happy man. Thank you, Cambridge, for renewing my love for music. If you have a massive CD collection, and are on a budget, don’t pass on this affordable little gem. Buy with confidence.

I researched cd players for about 2 weeks. After reading the reviews, reputation and features, I decided on the cambridge AXC35. It arrived quickly and I connected the player right away. When I started the unit, the display read "loading "and stayed that way for a minute or two. Then the display read "no disc ".I tried several more discs (all commercial) and the same thing occurred. Very disappointing and since the model is on back order. My only recourse is to have this one repaired or get a refund. There's no way I would have it repaired, a lemon is a lemon.

I’d been without a CD player for about 12 months, using streaming instead. However, I own 100’s of CD’s, and didn’t want to sell or get rid of them. Did some research, and opted for the AXC35, which I got from the Hanley store. The player is hooked up via digital Co-axial cable to my EVO 75 and Focal Aria speakers. The sound is clear and detailed without any harshness, and it’s also very revealing of details sometimes missing from streamed music. A wholehearted recommendation for both the player and Richer sounds.
First off, the service at Worldwide Stereo was swift and spot on. This CD player is my first purchase. This Cambridge CD player, which I just received today, brings life to my CDs by extracting every bit of information from them. I played a CD of Ella Fitzgerald's Broadway tunes album and first track, which featured castanets, made me feel as if I was just a few feet from Fitzgerald. The castanets were vivid in sound; there was no 'muffling'. I'm now playing a recording of Paul Badura-Skoda playing a Schubert sonata and this player continues to deliver on sonic clarity. This recording was made in 1971 and it sounds as if Badura-Skoda made it yesterday. I was an early adoptee of the Compact Disc as a collector of classical music recordings. This recording was made in 1971 and it sounds as if Badura-Skoda made it yesterday. I was an early adoptee of the Compact Disc as a collector of classical music recordings. As one who was born in the year when stereo LPs first came out, I had bought a number of LPs during my youth and young adulthood. I also got caught up in the vinyl revival and had recently acquired a number of LPs. But this fantastic CD player is reviving my interest in CDs. The CD, properly mastered', still cannot be beat in terms of sonic clarity and range. It is this CD player and others of its class that could bring about a revival of the CD in the age of Tidal and Apple Music. It is a no-nonsense player that seems solidly built and delivers on its excellent ability to extract a CD's musical 'info'. For this collector of recordings, I look forward to re-listening to the CDs I had collected through the years, thanks to this player. That the Gramophone magazine still features recordings available on CDs is proof that the CD is not 'dead'. This Cambridge Audio CD player, by delivering its wonderful sonic goods, is doing its part in keeping the CD alive.
Wanted to upgrade my Panasonic mini hi-fi to something a bit more substantial especially in the sound department . This is my first time in buying 'separates' and i was on a limited budget , so after some research i decided to go for this because the 25 was out of stock . The guys at the shop gave me a great deal on it ... heck .. i could'nt resist ! , after connecting it up to my other new separates ... wow ! i was blown away by the lovely clear and well defined sound ! . It may be classed as 'Budget' but the sonic experience is'nt ! , make sure you get decent quality connectors and you are in hi/fi heaven ! .
After lots of research I decided to purchase this amp as I like the look of it and its features as I had set myself a budget. I'm not disappointed. Bought online as part of a bundle with the equivalent cd player and Qacoustics 3020i speakers. I am really impressed with the sound quality and listening to my cd collection has been a joy. If you are not able to spend a fortune but want a quality system I recommend this and Richer sounds. One downside however would be the lack of any interconnects. This was not apparent on the website when I bought the system and only when delivered did the lack of an interconnect come to light as it is written on the box. Recently purchased Cambridge Audio package from Richer Sounds which included AXA35 amp, AXC35 CD player and Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers. Quality of amp and CD player is very good. It feels solid unlike some other makes and looks unfussy. Controls are what you would expect, nothing fancy just practical. Wiring speakers to the amp was no problem, just remember to remove the dust caps from the banana sockets. At 35 watts per channel, its not going to break any records or unduly annoy the neighbours. Paired with the Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers the clarity of sound is hard to fault. It does however suffer, in my opinion, from a lack of bass especially when at low volume. May be that's just me? If you're after a budget entry unit I couldn't recommend this highly enough.
Bought the AXC35 along with AXR100D + connector cable.Delivery - Abysmal. See AXR100D review. Was informed AXR100D would sit on this unit by RS, Cambridge info does NOT recommend. I would hesitate to put heavy receiver on cd player. Hence new connector cable was too short. Used an old one. Both are good-looking units, connected by QED-xt40i speaker cable to Q3050i speakers both units play well and sound good.
I decided after clearing out the garage that I needed somewhere to play my old CD’s and Vinyl but I had no idea what to choose. So I went along to the local Exeter branch and had a chat with Lloyd who was most helpful. He directed me towards the CA AXA35 AXC35 Denon DP300 Turntable and Q acoustics Q3010i speakers that met with my budget. They quoted 3-5 days delivery but everything arrived the following day. After putting everything together which was straightforward apart from one minor issue with the amp which a quick call to Pete in Exeter who explained I was setting it up incorrectly ( thank you Pete) everything sounds amazing.
