Ive used this bottle since my sophomore year of high school, and i start my first semester of college in the next 4 weeks. This bottle perfect for those who like to carry a lot of
water at once and love to just chug it straight from a chute rather than a straw, and the magnetic cap is such a small yet effective feature on the bottle. You can just flip the
cap up, let it stick to the magnetic base and bottoms up no problem, same with pouring into cups or smaller containers, the magnetic cap is the main attraction here. Super
easy to clean with the wide mouth and the cap and tether also detach for a deeper clean. Hands down the best bottle i’ve owned to take a good amount of water... Show more

I am not sure if my first review was posted but here's an updated review. Initially when I got this bottle I was very excited. It is lightweight, holds a lot of liquid, and I really like
the way the cap works in that it doesn't smack me in the face when I drink from the bottle. It's clear and very easy to carry. Then, thinking it was leakproof, I put in my tote bag
and it spilled water everywhere. I was very disappointed. I looked online and noticed that literally no one has had the issue I had with it. Was mine just defective, I thought.
Then, I read about how someone said they like the fact you could screw on and off the cap to make it leakproof. I went "D'oh!". Now it's my favorite bottle ever. J... Show more

There are some superficial scratches in the plastic in some places from contact with rock and metal, but overall, the bottle is in great shape considering the conditions I put it through, and I look forward to making many more memories with it along in tow.The shape of the bottle itself is great: It is thin enough to fit in the not so room cup holders of my car and not so tall that having it in my backpack becomes a chore. Where this bottle really stands out, though, is the lid. The grab handle is just the right size. And the nozzle / cap setup is far an away the best combination of utility and ease-of-use that I have found so far. If I have one nitpick, it is that I am a little worried that the cap retention connection will fail long before the rest of this bottle is ready to give up the ghost. However, that is in part why I spent a longer time (about 6 months) using the bottle before writing up the review, and while slightly looser at the connection point around the base of the nozzle—it can be wiggled side to side a bit, at this point there no sign of outright failure after *heavy* use. The fact that CamelBak incorporates recycled materials into these bottles is icing on the cake.If you need a solid water bottle for everyday use, this one gets a wholehearted recommendation from me. I think you will love it.... Show more

It does the job, but it's overengineered and poorly.
22 July 2022
It does the job it was meant to, and can take a beating for sure. The bottle itself is great, it's the lid I take issue with. It screws on nicely and seals water just fine, but the pour spout cap and the handle are less than desirable. The handle is nice to have, and for me a must have on any carryable water bottle. This one is rigid and it's position is leaves the bottle at such an odd angle that carrying it is a rather unpleasant experience. Having a handle on a pivot so that the bottle can kind of swing a bit is much more preferable to me.The spout lid is just the worst. It seals fine, but getting it open to drink out if is a hassle. The hinge on the cap makes it somewhat of a struggle to pull the cap off the top once unscrewed, rather than just swinging off or falling loose it requires for you to pull it up a bit before swinging it out, just swinging it out will sort of cause it to jam and you have to force it off the top. What makes the issue worse is the cap design muddles any sort of indication that the threading is disengaged, or unscrewed to pull the cap off, so you end up pulling upward on the cap while unscrewing just to make sure the threading is disengaged. With some time I have gotten used to it, but it's a water bottle, I shouldn't have to.I bought this bottle and a Takeya one of a similar make at the same time to compare them and the Takeya lid is perfect for my desires. Takeya lid fits almost perfectly on Camelbak bottle, so I've purchased a second lid from Takeya and put it on my Camelbak.... Show more

Less convenient than expected but does the job

I've had the Camelbak Eddy 25oz as my go-to water bottle for ages so I thought that upgrading to the 50oz could make things easier for my partner and I to have a shared water bottle around for road trips, short walks, camping, etc.PROs- Very hardy, haven't gotten any dings on it yet after taking it on a number of hiking and camping trips- Opening size makes for easy drinking without spilling, even in a moving car or while walking- 50oz is a lot so this reduces the need to refill often if you consume a lot of water or are sharing the bottle- Handle is solid and a good size if you need to carry the bottle by hand around a lot, though not the most comfortable if hauling this hefty bottle for many milesCONS- Doesn't fit in cup holders and barely fits in ... MoreI've had the Camelbak Eddy 25oz as my go-to water bottle for ages so I thought that upgrading to the 50oz could make things easier for my partner and I to have a shared water bottle around for road trips, short walks, camping, etc.PROs- Very hardy, haven't gotten any dings on it yet after taking it on a number of hiking and camping trips- Opening size makes for easy drinking without spilling, even in a moving car or while walking- 50oz is a lot so this reduces the need to refill often if you consume a lot of water or are sharing the bottle- Handle is solid and a good size if you need to carry the bottle by hand around a lot, though not the most comfortable if hauling this hefty bottle for many milesCONS- Doesn't fit in cup holders and barely fits in mesh side pockets on a backpack so it's inconvenient to have rolling around in the car or in a pack's main compartment- The magnetic closure seems nifty but does NOT actually seal the bottle so you can't just pop the top on and off quickly. The description omits to mention that this cap WILL LEAK if it's not screwed on closed! More than once now I've been surprised by spillage in my car because I hadn't screwed the top back on tight enough. (see photos) As others mentioned, the way this cap screws on and off just isn't the most intuitive.Overall, I'm lukewarm on this product. If you can get the hang of opening/closing it and have use cases for needing 50 oz (~1.5L) in a hard bottle (vs using a Camelbak bladder), then I'd recommend it as functions well. But personally, the bulky size and opening mechanism of this bottle wasn't that convenient for me. I'll likely keep using my Camelbak Eddy and Camelbak bladders more than this.... Show more

we bought this for our daughter about a year ago. She loves it. it's easy to carry, easy to drink from, etc. But she's not the one that cleans it. Because of the design with the internal threads, the cap for the drinking spout is really difficult to keep clean because the space between the threads and wall of the cap is so narrow that nothing fits very well. A carefully folded paper towel with soap and water and/or vinegar gets most of it. Most of it. The gaskets are pretty much impossible to remove without damaging them, which means water and debris get in behind there and create mold. I personally hate this water bottle for that reason. But, you know, my daughter likes it so...... Show more

My favorite water bottle in 20 years
6 February 2024
I've been through MANY water bottes over my 20+ years as an REI member. Most have not lasted very long. I love that this has a small drinking spout that doesn't splash my face, but when unscrewed, the wide mouth easily allows for the addition of powders etc. and makes for easy cleaning. I also LOVE the magnet that keeps the screw top from hitting me in the face when I raise the bottle to drink. The plastic extension on the lid allows me to easily clip this onto a carabiner. I also appreciate that this fits easily into most backpack bottle pockets and many (but not all) cup holders in vehicles. Have hand washed and dish-washered many times and it still keeps on working, so I bought a spare to use in multiple places.... Show more

Never Thought I’d Call a Water Bottle Clever!
18 July 2024
I bought this as a replacement for an earlier CamelBak Chute that wore out after many years of hard usage. I found this new model to be a vast improvement on the earlier model. The new model has a much sturdier tether for the cap, and I’m sure will last even longer than the early model. Another useful improvement is the clever magnetic retainer to hold the cap in the open position. Wunderbar! No more fiddling trying to stow the cap! CamelBak did an outstanding job.... Show more

One major design flaw - it leaks
10 March 2024
Had this bottle for c. two-three years - the bottle is great, great design, size, large hoop to clip the bottle when climbing on multipitches. I loved it so much, I even bought two! However, in my opinion there is one job that a water bottle needs to do, which is hold water and not leak. The small "mouth" screw cap got damaged on both bottles!!If I tighten the cap, it, the threads seem to click, and the small mouth remains open.So I have two options, tighten the screw cap, and the top of the cap is unlocked, and the bottle leaks.Do not tighten it enough, and loosely tighten the top small cap, and the bottle doesn't leak if kept upright. But if i put it in my pack, the cap loosens with vibrations, and the bottle leaks. The short of it:Great size, Great ... MoreHad this bottle for c. two-three years - the bottle is great, great design, size, large hoop to clip the bottle when climbing on multipitches. I lurched forward and you flew from the outer pocket of my North Face day back; specifically selected for the way it cradled and held you, but alas, too late.A rock was your undoing, and my own. It was in Hutch's Pools i n the upper basin of Sabino Canyon. It wasn't hot, but you served your last function with stoic bravery.Slowly your precious contents moistened my back on the hike back out of canyons.
