This is my second Camelbak Rogue. I use it for both mountain biking and hiking where I find the 70 oz capacity to be a nice intermediate size. Overall, this pack is sleeker and seems to have at least as much capacity as my old one. The new bladder design with an easy on/off cap, internal baffle and quick connect hose mount is a nice improvement over my old one. I also like the angle of the bite valve. The old one had a 90 degree bend and seemed to catch on everything possible. The new shutoff valve is larger and easier to use without being obtrusive. There are a few negatives, though minor ones. The sipping hose is a larger diameter and much stiffer, making to harder to bend when I want to drink. The straps are very lightweight and breathable but kind of flimsy - I'm not worried about them breaking or carrying the load of the pack but they don't hold their shape as well so putting on the pack is slightly more difficult. Once on they are comfortable. Finally, the clip to hold the hose is integrated with the sternum strap. I'd prefer it to be separate so I can adjust each independently. This is a great pack overall and I would buy it again.

More aesthetically beautiful than the previous Rogue model that I also own, but less functional. I would prefer the previous model's separate storage compartments. It does not allow the old plastic arms to be placed on the lid to keep the mouth of the bag open while it is drying. Does not come with velcro to wrap the the shoulder straps tips. The front buckle is too far to the left, not allowing me to place the magnet that I have to hold the tube in that place. I am sad. It was wasted money. I'm going to keep using the old one, even though the bag and reservoir are a little old. This model has changed for the worse.

I've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have (the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

I have used this on 4 fairly rough terrain gravel rides and been suitably impressed with this backpack. Besides holding 2 litres of water there is sufficient room for food/snacks, a well-packed waterproof, spare inner tube, keys, etc, without feeling as though you have a heavy load on your back.Good back ventilation.Although there is only a chest strap - nothing around the waist - the backpack has remained in place notwithstanding the uneven surface. The only movement has been the occasional sound of water sloshing around in the bladder as its contents have reduced.Removal of the bladder for filling with water is easy. The water tubing can be routed over either right or left shoulder to suit individual preference. This is the first hydration backpack I have ... MoreI have used this on 4 fairly rough terrain gravel rides and been suitably impressed with this backpack. This is the man/unisex version of the Rogue Light 7. Unfortunately, it is not the same design. It lost the small but very useful inside pocket, it has these large flaps on the shoulder straps that get in the way, it has the added useless "pockets" on the shoulder straps. Despite being a men's backpack comes on a very neutral color. And for all that "improvement" you pay more for this one.So, as a man I decided to buy the women pack that it better designed and has a similar neutral color. My advice, skip this one, get the women version, and buy yourself a beer for the change.
I was skeptical about using a hydration pack for short to medium length trail hiking, by I'm glad I tried it and I'm a believer now! The CamelBak Rogue Light is large enough to hold the amount of water I need for a 3-to-5-hour hike that does not require much gear. The pouch and zippered pocket easily accommodated the essentials, including keys, small first aid kit, snacks and a lightweight jacket. The straps were very comfortable and highly adjustable - allowing for layering underneath. The pack fit nicely over a rain shell and expanded to accommodate a down jacket. My only challenge was with the mouthpiece, which was somewhat uncomfortable initially because I wear a removable dental device, but it worked fin after finding the right position. The pack will work well for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, too, without interfering with arm motions. One more positive...the water doesn't sloosh around
This is my first time owning a Camelbak/hydration pack, and I am pleasantly satisfied with it.The construction is simple and small, with three main compartments - the zippered pocket for the bladder, a large top loading pocket, and a small zippered pocket on the very outside. The shoulder straps also have small elastic pockets that might be good for GPS devices, headphones, or a key, but they are not big enough for a phone. I found the large top loading pocket helpful to bring items like a book or camera with me, while the small zipper pocket was good for a wallet and keys. The pack is easy to put on, a little hard to take off at times (because of its small form factor), and overall good build from what I can tell. I've used it for a few bike rides and a run, and the straw is easy to grab and drink from. The clip for the straw is more or less easy to tuck it away.I've deducted a star for two reasons... The straw of the bladder doesn't exactly tuck or clip away as much as I would like. I would've liked a small magnetic clip to attach it to the sternum strap, instead of it hanging down by my side. I didn't find it a nuisance while moving, but it was something I noticed frequently. Also, the bag is quite small for my body (I am a skinny, 5'10 male) and it rides up my shirt from time to time. Also, to detach the straw from the main bladder, you have to reach all the way down into the bag, which resulted in some spilling of the water into the bag. Those are the only drawbacks I could really think of for this product.Nice hydration pack. Love the pockets and the slim shape. Didn't bother me while on the move, sometimes forgot it was there because of how light it is. Solid!
I have been using the Camelbak Rogue Light 7 for mountain biking, road biking and day hiking. I am very happy with this product for the following reasons:Usage:Fantastic comfort and fit. Not sure if the comfort is due to the fit or the weight. It weighs 7 ounces as compared to my old Camelbak which is 16 ounces. It really stays in place even though there is only a chest strap. I took this pack over bumpy, rough terrain and it did not budge.I am really loving it for road biking! In the past, I would always get a backache after 15-20 miles but with this pack I can’t even feel it at all while riding. This will afford me lots of extra water storage space on longer day rides and will be a major asset for bike touring when I frequently ride over eight hours a day ... MoreI have been using the Camelbak Rogue Light 7 for mountain biking, road biking and day hiking. This will afford me lots of extra water storage space on longer day rides and will be a major asset for bike touring when I frequently ride over eight hours a day on trails with non-potable water. It meant a lot to me that most of the pack is made from recycled materials. The fabric is strong and sturdy and dries in a flash. I got the Serenity Blue color which is a nice change from neutrals and is easy to spot when you lay it down on the ground.Storage:There is an outside pocket with stretchy sides where I could fit my puffy jacket, gloves and a urination funnel for day hikes. It also has a long zippered pocket which fit my snacks, two epi pens, 3-oz. liquid allergy meds pouch and a pill case.An ingenious addition to both shoulder straps is a small stretch pocket where I fit my keys, a rag, pocket knife and phone (but not in its protective case). It was good to be able to access these without having to stop and remove the pack.If I could improve the storage, I would like the zippered pocket to also have some stretch.Bladder:Nothing leaked. The bladder cap twists off easier and seems better constructed than previous caps. I never had a quick release hose like this one has and it was a welcome surprise. The longer loop to secure the bladder inside the pack makes it easier to attach and still holds it in place. The best things about this pack: extremely comfortable to wear and it really stays put.
I’ve had a camelbak and similar hydration pack-compatible bags before, but the thoughtful additions/features and lightweight construction of this Camelbak make it a winner. The pack is lightweight, has sturdy but extremely breathable padding and straps, and has well-placed extra mesh pockets for ease of use. In addition to a zippered internal compartment, the pack has an elastic pouch in the front which expands to fit sweatshirts, change of clothes, and my favorite - expands to fit a helmet. I’ve used this on bike rides and cannot recommend enough - the large pouch fits all my necessities and the mesh pockets on the straps provide perfect easy access for snacks and other goodies that are of limited use when zippered away.
This pack is small enough for an unencumbered experience, while being roomy enough for your gear. You could store stuff in the zippered section with the water bladder, in the open top “middle section” or in the front zippered section. There is also mesh like pockets on the straps… but I do wish these were a little bigger because phones nowadays are huge, and mine wouldn’t easily slip in, so it had to go in a zippered compartment which isn’t the easiest to quickly access while riding (for me anyway). Comfort wise… the stiffness of the pack gives for a weird feel, but not enough to be a deal breaker! The bladder itself is actually one of the nicer ones I’ve used, and the mouth piece is extremely easy to use one handed.
