Canon EOS M50 Mark II with EF-M 15-45mm Lens

This is the most recent camera I’ve purchased. Overall I consider it one of my favorite cameras I’ve ever gotten because it’s smaller and very lightweight compared to other models or brands. It’s a great camera for both photography and videography! It’s mirrorless and with great advanced technology. Lens are interchangeable so you can use a prime lens, zoom, etc. The quality is very clear the main con with this camera is that it doesn’t work the best with low light situations so have extra lighting handy in the dark or shoot with natural light!

A terrific little camera

I have done relatively few test shots using this little mirrorless but have found it to be a terrific little camera. Using Canon's EF-M 18-55mm lens (purchased separately) The camera focused quickly and accurately and produced properly exposed shots. Image stabilization is quite effective. And for an APS-C sensor, the pixel count is tremendous resulting in smooth texture even when displayed on a large screen. As with any mirrorless, battery life is relatively short so purchasing and carrying a second battery is recommended. I have rather large hands but found the body's finger grip a natural fit. I prefer to shoot using a viewfinder and automatic face detection switches between the live LED display and the viewfinder display, though it can be tricked the the misplaced finger or hand, unintentionally shutting off the display. Using an adapter I hope to connect this lightweight camera to a telescope for some astrophotography. Most of the time this will be good for walking around or street photography when a full-sized DSLR is just too much.

Awesome Beginner to Intermediate camera

After having this camera for about 4 months I have only fallen more in love with it! This camera is a small and lightweight powerhouse! Cons - battery life (can get hundreds of shots on one battery but if your going out without a charger you NEED a few battery's) - Almost too small for people with big hands (I have regular sized hands but people with larger hands might find it quite small and prefer the similar power in an 80D with a much more hand filling grip. I love the size though! - 4k (4k looks pretty good but you lose dual pixel AF and it crops into the sensor. I haven't touched because the 1080p is so good. also 4k files are massive - Viewfinder (I have disabled the viewfinder on my m50 because I Wal always tripping the sensor and the screen would flip off because it thought I was looking through it. also the colors are not even close to real life through the view finder. not sure if this is just the OLED panel or what. the LCD is great for framing and is more than bright enough to use out in the sun - EFM mount (the native mount on this camera is a huge part holding this camera back. I ordered an adapter to the regular ef lenses and I think that's absolutely necessary. that being said I just order a sigma 30mm f1.4 prime because I love this camera so much. but you should definitely get the adapter in the same order you buy this camera if you want flexibility with lenses. I'll see if I can put some photos I have taken below because they are fantastic. I have mainly used the canon ef 40mm f2.8 pancake. it's alright but there is definitely some chromatic aberration but its a sweet lense for beginners looking the background to have that creamy bokeh (pro look) At the of the day this is a powerful compact camera with a few small quirks. Still verh highly recommend!!

Canon EOS M50 Mark II

The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is a very good digital camera for photographers. Excellent for 1080p video but not 4K. The autofocus system on the Mark II is an improvement over the previous model. It has improved face and eye detection so you're less likely to get blurred photos with this camera. The built-in flash works well in low light conditions. You need to use the touch screen to get effects such as blurred backgrounds. The retracting design of the lens makes it relatively compact to carry but you will need to buy an extra battery for extended shooting time. You will also need to buy a couple of photo quality SD cards. Connects to your computer via a USB connection with Canon's Webcam Utility software.

Glad I got the Canon m50 mirrorless camera

Each year digital cameras get better. I had a Nikon DSLR for a month when Costco sold cameras and returned it since it was too big and the battery door fell off in a museum shoot. It took incredible photos. I kept looking for a mirrorless camera and after months of pondering I finally bought the Canon M50. This camera fits in your hand and takes photos equal to the Nikon I returned. It's smaller, faster, lighter, easy to handle, and the view screen that pull out and turns is incredible and is easy to see in sunlight. The camera body itself feels solid, a nice weight that feels safe in the hands. The kit lens is plasticky looking and feeling, making it very light, but don’t let that put you off. Its a very capable lens that has built in image stabilisation, and the perfect focal range for close up videoing in this YouTube age we live in. The Canon M50 is the first body to incorporate the new Digic 8 processor, and with that the fantastic Dual Pixel Focusing. Anybody that has dabbled in video and has tried talking to the camera, will know that the holy grail of a good vlogging camera is accurate focusing of the face. The M50 achieves this with ease, I know this as I’m filming, because the M50 also has a fully articulating flip out screen that allows you to physically see where the camera is focusing without using an external monitor. This camera blows away any camera I have used in the past from all the major manufacturers, ie Sony, Panasonic, Olympus etc, and indeed Canon’s own previous models. The Digic 8 processor is a game changer. Of course the M50 is also a very capable stills camera, and I quickly bought the Macro 28mm IS STM lens to go with it which I really enjoy using. Photographs, like the video, use Canon’s excellent Colour Science and video and images straight from the Camera are true to life and vibrant. With the Canon EF-EFM adapter, you open this camera up to Canon’s whole range of lenses in the EF and EF-S range, and they work flawlessly, focusing with the same accuracy and speed as the native EF-M lenses. Of course, as a middle of the range camera there are some drawbacks, those being fewer buttons, so some of the features are only accessible via the menu or the excellent touch screen. The M50 also produces 4k Video, but, and it’s a big BUT, you do NOT get the dual pixel focusing feature, and whereas 1080P Full HD has the usual 1.6x crop from the aps-c sensor, in 4k you have a whopping 2.56x crop, making your 15-45mm lens a massive 38.4mm at its widest 15mm. This isn’t a deal breaker for me, 4k produces huge files and most people do not have the hardware in their PC’s or Mac’s to process them efficiently, a 10 minute video in 4k can take days on a ‘normal’ pc to render. All in all, I have absolutely no regrets buying this camera, it is the best affordable mirrorless camera out there!

Great images; software totally unusable, hence, so is camera

I bought this camera to do videos. The camera took superior quality video and images (the sole reason for my two stars), but getting them off the camera to my computer was a nightmare. The EOS software apps are impossible to pair with the camera and the interfaces are seemingly programmed in 1996. I'm not even exaggerating. Worse, once you install the very antiquated software, the camera can't be found or paired over wi-fi. Again, total nightmare. I ended up selling the camera after weeks of frustration trying to get it to simply work. Another downside is that this camera EATS batteries in video mode, and you can't plug it in and charge batteries at the same time. Again, not user friendly. I love this camera! It's so cute!

So as they say, It's not the size of the camera, but the quality of the lens. I bought the body only (as shown), and instead got the Canon EF-M 22mm f2 STM pankcake (for wide shots and portability) and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM w/adapter for tele shots and macro shots. I have other L-lenses as well, but these two I chose for this camera. Mainly I use this as a B camera for overhead shots (w/ boom) when vlogging product videos. Don't let the size fool you, it's a very capable camera! It can also double as a travel camera if you like. I didn't have that issue with the boom I'm using. Also, if you're mounting on the adapter or lens, you'll have more flexibility as to what tripod head you can use. I think this is great for the boom because it's not too heavy. I have an on-camera mic (Sennheiser 440k) since this camera is the closest one and am using a wireless lavalier w/ camera A, which is further away. So I can't comment on on-camera sound, except to not use on-camera sound on any camera for any serious purposes. Cons: I haven't tried the HDMI out feature yet, but I did notice that if you disable the screen info for the HDMI out, some features will not be available. The 4k is crop. Recording stops after a certain amount of time without the HDMI, so I do check from time to time to ensure it's recording. I wish there was some alarm or beeping to let you know, or just not have it turn off. You have to hunt for the menu to enable volume meter while recording. It should be default. The grandma/prosumer/baby menus (to stay politically correct) are disconcerting and I turned them off. Stabilization is digital... I'd shy away from it and rely on lens stabilization if available, or a tripod. The automatic switch to visor is annoying since anytime your move your hand to touch the screen the screen turns off... so I disabled this default setting. Really I just use this as a B-camera so all I cared about was getting it up and running, which I was able to do after customizing the settings to my needs. My favorite part is that Canon colors always come out looking great. Just keep in mind that the camera alone will not get you good footage. Make sure you have good lighting, miking, camera position/movements, and a great lens.

Not happy with my purchase

I purchase this camera from the seller electronic r us and I am not happy. First, I thought I was purchasing a new camera. The camera was refurbished or renewed. It didn’t come with a manual or warranty paperwork. This is my first camera and to not have that paperwork is very upsetting. I highly don’t recommend purchasing anything from this seller. I honestly should have just went directly to canon or Best Buy to make my purchase. The camera seems to be okay at the moment but idk time will tell if I run into any issues with it. I highly recommend looking at the sellers reviews before making a purchase with them. This particular seller review rate is 59 % and in my book that’s pretty low. That’s definitely a lesson learned. Perfect For My YouTube

A little over a year ago I bought the M50 MKI to use for my YouTube content. I LOVED it. I wanted to add another camera to my setup so I bought this M50 MKII and I love it just as much. It's lightweight (perfect on my gimbal) and easy to use. It's really an awesome little camera and still gives me all the control my picky self wants. I also have a lens adapter so I can use my higher end EF lenses on this body. I'm very very happy with this camera AND my transaction with B&H. In all the years I've been buying gear from B&H i don't recall a single time when I've been let down. I HAVE been let down by Amazon Prime though...several times. Thank you B&H!!!
