Canon EOS R3 Camera (Body Only)

I have shot with Canon 1D bodies for years and was unsure how much of an improvement I would see coming from a 1DxII. It is night and day, especially in the following areas:AF capabilities. the R3 is miles ahead of the 1DxIISilent shutter and Electronic shutter-fast, quiet, and no discernable distortions in my images thus far.Extra buttons and wheels. I never have to take my eye off the viewfinder now.Exposure simulation in the OVF. I get instant feedback on my exposure settings. This saves so much time when shooting theater or some other event with extreme changes in lighting.It is wildly expensive but if you are getting paid to shoot, especially for sports, events, theater, etc. I think it is worth it. I have been lucky to use a few cool cameras over the years. Owned a 5DMK3 and a 60D both had Magic Lanturn on them and had a FS100 when going to school. I use to shot mountain biking or snowboarding and skiing so my next camera needed to be a tank. I'm not good enough anymore to get paid so might as well make sure the camera can make up for my short comings and this Canon EOS R3 has not fully disapointed it's more Canon. But fingers crossed firmware fixes that for 5 Stars. If you are a sports mom or dad and can also get add a $3k or more lens I promise photo or video will make you guys smile after a game new 1.4+ firmware has a setting you can take a photo of your subjects face or custom helmet and they get priority focus works good. I haven't wanted to test it in the elements to the max but drizzle for the rainbow outside is no match for the camera. I did forget to cover the battery because you forget that it has one. 4TB and 6k raw runs out before the battery does and Tybe B is fast. So I cheaped out and did a Wasabi battery kit and their charger and has worked great. If you use a good name brand portable battery pack with Power Delivery you can run the camera off that so my Anker and RavPower both work. I will still recommend first party gear though but nice to not need a $200 battery.. I'm bummed with lenses starting back with Canon and RF not like my budget let me have my wish list anyways but Pro and RF is not quite there it's like they still want to get rid of EF glass it seems. This is going to last me the rest of my life and I'm 35. It's going to take a beating, capture some good times and it feels like it will put last me so we will see fingers crossed.

I took a chance on the R3 after waiting almost 9 months it finally was available. Ordered and received it the next day (B&H is wonderful). I have had a few test shoots so far and I am amazed at the image quality, speed, and ease of use and set up. Customizing the camera is a breeze (as was the 1Dx but this has a few more options). Performance is crazy good. The low light performance is like nothing I have ever seen from Canon ( I started with the 10D). I can use all of my many EF lenses without issue with the RF adaptor. I was concerned about only having 24 MP as I shoot sports, and Landscape and would like to have the detail before and after crops. I have always thought the 1 series sacrifices a bit too many megapixels for speed . After shooting with this camera I think the 24 MP is a decent sweet spot. The file size is managble, and If I have to do any extreme cropping I can still maintain quality with the LR Enhance feature, or Topaz Gigapixel plug in. Over all I love this camera.
