Canon RF 135mm f/1.8 L Is USM Lens
A fast aperture telephoto with great versatility. Capture flattering portraits and details with outstanding subject separation thanks to a longer 135mm focal length and a fast f/1.8, nine-blade aperture, with remarkable depth-of-field control for beautiful bokeh. Superb image quality, right across the frame. Count on the sharpest possible images thanks to three UD glass elements plus ASC and Super Spectra coatings while a Fluorine layer on the front element guards against dust and dirt. An outstanding low light performer. Keep on shooting when light levels are against you thanks to a 5.5-stop Optical Image Stabilizer that increases to 8-stops with in body stabilisation on a compatible EOS R series camera. Strong, silent, dependable. Shoot it in any situation, even close up, to 0.7m (0.26x magnification). It's an L-series lens with advanced weather sealing - and with a Nano USM motor it's virtually silent, too. Handling that is second nature. Stay in the moment and be at one with the lens thanks to two custom Lens Function Buttons and a Lens Control Ring that allows fine tuning and control of critical settings, plus focus breathing correction when shooting video.

As an owner of both the RF 50mm 1.2 & RF 85mm f1.2, I'm utterly shocked that Canon can continue to make unbelievably *sharper* glass. On top of that, this is truly as close as optically perfect a lens can be. No chromatic aberration at 1.8, sharp corner to corner, silent ultrafast autofocus, best in class IS, and bokeh that will blow your mind.Definitely suited for Portraits mainly (Weddings!), but could be great for sports or even product photography. You can also surprisingly focus close with this lens as well (not macro or anything), but closer than the RF 70-200 at 135mm for sure. Video autofocus is also excellent on this lens.Feels very good in hand, well weighted (not too heavy). Custom button (it's only one, two on the lens for vertical/horizontal shooting) feels good and well built. Tank of a lens, handles better than the 85mm on my R3 body.Bokeh is unique on this lens, may not be to everyone's taste. It's super smooth and will make any chaotic background disappear. BUT, it does warp the bokeh in the corners that gives an oval look to the image. Personally I like this as it separates itself against the RF 85mm because of this characteristic alone. See my sample photos.Overall worth every penny. I know photographers will have a tough time choosing this or the RF 85mm f1.2. Honestly they're both great and you'll be happier with either. Choose the look you want to go for.

Exactly as awesome as I thought it would be. The autofocus is actually faster than I anticipated with it being a pretty big focal length prime too. All that with image stabilization?? Great Job Canon. A little quicker on the drop next time though, please.

Super fast focusing and ultra sharp the pictures out of this lens of creamy and delicious and this is a must have any photographers bag
Amazingly sharp, great bokeh, full colors in the images. Needs minimal work up in post. The magic maker, just like the EF 135 was. Every shot has a distinctive look to it. Not too heavy, and the black color makes it great for street photography. I just got it and have been shooting at f/1.8 most of the time. Definitely expensive, but if you've got the $$$ it's a good way to go. I'll enjoy this lens for 20 years.
Took forever to receive this lens. Super sharp. First results are mixed with tracking autofocus. Doesn't seem to do nearly as good a job as other RF lenses.
This replaces my much-loved EF version. I haven't had a chance to shoot people with it yet, but images of pets are spectacular. I used it in low light and tested the IS. No problem with 1/25 handheld. I didn't try any slower but I suspect I can go slower and still have keepers. I tested tracking by having my dog run towards me full speed. The results weren't great. This is a tough test for any camera/lens combo but I expected better. I used the default settings in my R5, so some experimenting is called for here. However, I took another sequence of my dog frolicking in a stream in low light and just about every shot was precisely focused on the eye and beautifully rendered as well. It takes better closeups than the EF version. Subjectively, images seem like they have ... MoreThis replaces my much-loved EF version. It takes better closeups than the EF version. Subjectively, images seem like they have more pizazz. Eyes are brighter and colors are, well, more colorful. One downside is size and weight. Even with an adapter, the EF version is 4.7 oz. lighter. It's also much smaller. However, the Rf version is well balanced and a joy to use. If this is the price to pay to get IS, weather sealing and another 1/3 stop, I'm OK with it.
First off, let me just say that this lens is an absolute BOKEH MONSTER! Seriously, the bokeh it produces is smoother than a baby's bottom. I've used this lens at six weddings so far and multiple engagement sessions, and let me tell you, it's outstanding. Now, I know what you might be thinking because I thought it too before purchasing: "But do I really need this lens if I already own the RF 70-200mm 2.8?" Well, my friend, let me tell you from personal experience that this lens is worth every penny. It's like having a magic wand in your camera bag that can turn even the most mundane of scenes into something extraordinary.I've been using this lens for over a month now, and I can confidently say that I will NEVER return it. I have used it at every shoot, and truth be told, my RF 70-200 2.8 has started to collect dust. It's just that good. So, if you're on the fence about whether or not to add the Canon - RF 135 1.8 to your arsenal, let me make it easy for you: DO IT. You won't regret it. Trust me, your clients will thank you. Happy shooting!
The 135mm 1.8 is an amazing prime lens! I'm very happy that I purchased this, and it is a versatile focal length that works great for portraits, wildlife, and even products!
One of my favorite lenses back in my early days of Nikon f3 my lens of choice was a 135 2.0. I just received the RF 135 today and wow the build of it is amazing, It is a monster though w=in size and weight not unlike the 70-200 2.8L.
