Amazing Board Questionable Quality

I purchased the Mega Merc in December of 2022. The board is extremely stable at higher speeds and light enough to feel like a smaller board that you can really whip around if needed. It does pretty well in powder considering it's an all mountain board. The edge hold could be better but it's not terrible. The biggest issue with the board is construction quality. The top sheet gets scratched up very easily and already looks more worn than a board that I have ridden a year after one use. Additionally the binding inserts came stripped from the factory and while I was able to mount my bindings I fear if I ever take them out I may have to retap the thread. Overall I have major concerns on how this board will hold up a year from now.

Great board just not for me. My favorite board is my 2022 160 kazu pro and I bought the mega merc in a 161. I am 6ft 220 lbs and size 11 adidas Acerra boots. The mega merc is definitely more playful with the twin shape and flat to rocker sections. It has great pop and stability on side hits rollers. It has great edge hold when carving but for some reason it doesn't feel locked in like some of my other boards. Also when flat basing on catwalks the board feels like it wants to wander and turn I assume due to the flat sections of the board. The turn initiation and transition from edge to edge is slower than the kazu which might be due to the new base grind. I also think the base grind on last years capita boards is faster. The mega merc rocks. It's super aggressive and all around fun board and a real quiver killer. Def on the stiffer side of medium but it's super fun and does what you want once you get the hang for it.Originally bought because it had the 157w size with a ww of 260mm which was perfect. I paired with a set of the Union Falcons, great choice.

My favorite snowboard
21 June 2024

This is my 5th snowboard from capita. First 'mega'/'super'/whatever from them I've ridden on. This board is premium. It's longer than my other boards but I can maneuver it more easily. The pop is absolutely insane. It slides well on rails. And the base is very fast. I love it

Pop & Power!!
8 November 2022

Packs a punch like the hulk, this lightweight board has loads of pop and will leave you happily surprised with how it handles anything you throw its way. Rip deep trenches thanks to its additional contact point located smack between my feet. The stance is set back a half inch, which is just enough to get the nose above the fresh deep snow, but not crazy enough to make riding switch harder than it needs to be. The base is faster than any other board i have been on, i hate getting stuck on cat-tracks and in wet slush. The factory stone-grind on the base is amazing, it glides over everything with ease. I love the Mega Merc! Best all-mountain board out there.

Quiver Killer
13 November 2022

Early season still, and I only have 5 days on the mountain - but this board slays everything in its path. I'm 132 lbs, 7.5 boot and ride a 153, and I'd say it fits just right. I paired it with the Union Strata, which compliments it well. It absolutely rails high speed carves, pops off side this and sticks landings with ease, and blows through bump, mounded snow as if it's on perfect corduroy. It's also refreshingly lightweight. It seems to transition edge to edge as soon as I start thinking about it - practically predicting what I want to do. This might just be my favorite board ever.

Quiver killer.
14 April 2024

Rode it in spring conditions and then the next day in 10" of fresh powder, to say this board could be a quiver killer is an understatement. Perfection in both conditions. I might just retire all my other boards cause this one does it all. This board pops! First side hit had me floating and laughing at how high I was without any effort. Floats in powder, pops on hits, holds an edge when carving, glides on flats. Super light weight, feels great riding switch.

This thing rips
11 February 2023

This board absolutely rips. It just wants to go fast and provides all the stability you need to do so. It also has plenty of pop and I've found myself getting air much easier off of side hits. It's really helped me upgrade my riding. Could not be happier. Also, people compliment the board all the time. I've tried this thing out in all conditions, including thigh high powder. It can handle anything you throw at it.

Ultimate Freeride Weapon
19 December 2022

If you're not into just settling for the status quo this is the board for you! It will handle any type of terrain you throw at it and is insanely fast with the carbon base and omini pro tune that comes out of the wrapper. This is one of the only boards I have every seen with this structure from the factory. Capita really outdid themselves with this and I can understand why it sold out last year. This board rips!

Very light weight and great control
1 February 2023

I've been snowboarding for 25 years and this board is one of the best I've ever ridden. It is very light which helps not only to take air but also control in carving. Rode a bit of powder with it, but mostly park and packed powder, and it was awesome. Additional: I have Union Atlas Pro bindings with Burton Moto Boa boots. Sweet set up for this board. You'll love it!
