Cardhu 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

(486 reviews)

A classic Speyside Malt Scotch. More than half of Scotland's single malt whisky distilleries can be found in the Speyside region, and Cardhu is no exception. Illegally founded in 1811, the distillery received its official license in 1824. Helen Cumming was a pioneer in whisky distilling, as was her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Cummings, whose entrepreneurial spirit helped the distillery grow steadily. In 1884, New Cardhu was built to meet the increasing demand. Cardhu aims to produce a refined, high-quality, yet affordable single malt. The pleasant, elegant, and generous single malt Scotch is a testament to the hard work of these two women. The Cardhu 12 Years is essentially the centerpiece of the distillery. Enticing and silky smooth, with golden honey notes and a gentle, delicate fruity character, this Cardhu is considered by many to be the quintessential Speyside Scotch. It pairs perfectly with dark chocolate and strawberries or black truffles.

Lapsang souchong is truly the main note I get from this.. or on the other hand a light form of it at any rate. White grape vanilla nectar that's right all the speyside goodness. The sense of taste is the place I get the sherry notes and slight peat smoke. I'll be straightforward the principal measure of this yesterday didn't claim a lot to me yet now on the subsequent day it's Vastly improved. Possibly that is an indication that oxidation helps this glass. This is a base center contribution and an incredible one. No water required and the completion helps me to remember orange strip/preserves with candy-coated sugar. A decent medium mouth coat. 3.75 and expresses gratitude toward Paul for the opportunity to respect it. I was searching for something somewhat unique and Cardhu is the thing that I thought of. This Speysider ends up being a significant part in Johnnie Walker to the degree that JW purchased the refinery inside and out some time prior. It's presently one of Diageo's brands. It was likewise at the focal point of a firestorm of debate harking back to the 80's when Diageo endeavored to address a flexibly emergency by transforming it into a vatted malt and calling it Unadulterated Malt". The shitstorm that followed about cleared out the refinery. Luckily Diageo saw the light and reestablished the brand to a solitary malt that is accessible to us today. It glances dainty in the glass and creates slight legs. The nose is light which follows the appearance. Light botanical and oat tones alongside light citrus apples and pears. That is about it. Up until this point not very amazing. The sense of taste was a bit of amazing. I discovered it genuinely dry for a Speysider with a solid peppery/cinnamon zest flavor. In reality sort of helped me to remember a rye bourbon from the start which is extremely peculiar yet that is the thing that I got. Water drew out some malty flavors. It had a genuinely slender mouthfeel. Entirely one dimensional; or perhaps I can't get those light "scarcely there" notes. Whichever it was acceptable however not extraordinary. The completion was most likely the best piece of this measure. Warm waiting and suggestive of dull nut cake the completion spares this whisky from being simply average. The odd mix of fruity nose with zesty sense of taste startles it. It would be a decent summer whisky; oh summer is finished and I'm anticipating more extravagant smokier stuff. Furthermore at $55-60 I make some hard memories suggesting it. It's not awful however you can show signs of improvement for your cash. 3.75/5.0. Good health!"

Stop number 31 on the SDT is Cardhu. This Speyside refinery gives one of the key malts in the Johnnie Walker mixes (in spite of the fact that it doesn't show up the Green Mark). This multi year old is packaged at 40% ABV and has enough colorant in it to make it look like JW Dark Name. It appears to likewise be chill separated. At once (and it might in any case be) this was the top rated single malt scotch in Spain. How about we see what all the Spaniards are making such a complain about. Flower with feeble dark tea and light milk chocolate. Malty sweet with a little pepper that develops sufficiently only to make you pay heed. Banana oak toffee and vanilla. Interesting and locks in. A medium to light body. Somewhat rich yet turns dry. The completion sadly is somewhat short. Sweet with oak and pepper and a puff of smoke that blurs as fast as it shows up. I need to state that I am very intrigued. I went into this one seeing the substantial colorant and legitimate least quality and anticipated the most noticeably awful. What I got was a strong single malt with a quality that rises above its ABV. Very even. It shows like a genuine multi year old some multifaceted nature with a little young kick. I couldn't want anything more than to have a go at this one at barrel quality. In the event that you are an enthusiast of Johnnie Walker you will most likely appreciate this. Once more dazzled at this shaded chill separated 40% Speysider. This may transform into one of those must have available for visitors sort of scotches. Others may believe I'm insane for giving it a 4 yet I'm taking a gander at all the things it has conflicting with it and as yet ending up as the winner. Additionally at $50 it's a damn decent an incentive for cash. Cheers MFers!

I purchased this container for Easter with my family. So far I've heard just great about Cardhu and I thought to check out it. - Shading is pale gold. - On the button I get some sweet notes for example vanilla and flower notes for example nectar nurse. They are trailed by the organic product notes: pineapple and pears. - On the sense of taste it's a rich fruity taste that incorporates pineapples mangos and a trace of bananas with the pleasantness of nectar and vanilla. - The completion is sensitive and in the most part presents nectar and raisins. Generally speaking I like this scotch. It's generally excellent incentive for cash and could be utilized to introduce whisky to others who aren't into this soul that much.

I never fully comprehended why Cardhu is so mainstream in Spain. Perhaps it's the warm atmosphere that goes well along with the light and fruity style of this Single Malt? On the button you get juniper berries clingy nectar pleasantness and traces of almonds - that is it. Not unsavory however genuinely basic. The taste is a plain continuation of the smell with some mellow flavors new spearmint and dim chocolate in the subsequent line. Be cautious with water as this malt breaks down rapidly. With its quick and undemanding completion Cardhu 12 is a simple sipper for long summer nighttimes. RATING: 2.9/5.0 stars ≙ 78 pts â†' Normal -

One of the least fascinating malts of Scotland. It's nothing unexpected that the majority of this stuff winds up in Johnnie Walker given how unremarkable and widely appealing it is. Nose: nectar fruitiness oakiness unobtrusive nuttiness and caramel. Balanced and smooth. Sense of taste: smooth delicate and warm. pleasantness nectar nuttiness delicate oak all through an unpretentious fruity completion tempts another taste deserting a sleek sensation. Light on the tongue. A darker sweet shading. Its not the boldest Speyside yet its exemplary and welcoming in any case. An extremely incredible articulation for everybody - whisky newcomers and epicureans the same!

The full nosing experience is kind of unremarkable if youre searching for multifaceted nature. Its a Speysider loaded up with sweet nectar some tropical foods grown from the ground oak barrel notes. Lovely without a doubt. The sense of taste is all toffee-shrouded tropical organic product. The sleek look in the glass isnt truly present on the tongue yet the vanilla truly waits more than all else Ive distinguished to this point. The 40% ABV doesnt include any warmth and theres practically zero warmth waiting into the completion. I can perceive any reason why this stuff is utilized vigorously by Johnnie Walker. It is extremely unlikely anybody can be affronted by this malt. Its fruity and light. The completion is lightning fast with simply increasingly nectar pleasantness ringing through. Its a genuine warm climate malt that would leave you despite everything shuddering on an energetic harvest time evening. I cant discover anything amiss with this one. It ticks off all the regular Speyside visual cues and is ideal for chilling with companions and getting a charge out of a whisky meeting. 3.5-3.75 stars. Much obliged again Paul. Strong stuff.
