Yarn label says use a size 8 needle which is worsted, but this yarn is so thick it is chunky.I went up a needle size.Colors for once blended nicely.I used a Yarnspirations pattern for Caron. It was called "Dropped Shoulder Knit Cardigan."Yes, cardigan came out similar to that picture where no two colors were at same place.

I love all the Caron Cakes yarns, but this one is especially nice. Nice, soft and cushy feel, and works up well with no splitting, and there were no knots or joins in any of the 3 cakes I purchased. I made a lovely, warm, cocoon sweater using only those three cakes! Very pleased with the quality of this yarn, as well as how many yards are in each cake. Five Stars!

I have made many Afghans with these yarns from Caron. I am doing one now in the sea glass color in the cotton acrylic yarn. It's my 1st. time using this yarn. I think it is the thinnest of the Caron Cakes. I am using a "I" size hook even though the label recommends a "H" size hook. I wanted a looser weave in my Afghan. I am working up an "Ocean Waves" pattern. The pattern calls for some back loop work on very other row, but I am using both front and back loops together for more support. This yarn is very light and soft, more delicate than other Caron Yarns. It has a beautiful weight and hand.

Great yarn, color a bit muted.
21 August 2024

Love this yarn and was delighted to still be able to get the Buttercream color. But, unfortunately, I think the colors are a bit washed out compared to previous purchases. It may have just been the particular dye batch my order came from. If not, it would be better if the colors were a bit less muted. That being said, I had to order online to obtain the number of cakes needed for the project I chose. They processed my order quickly and it arrived in a short turnaround time and was well packaged. I still love the Caron Cakes Yarn.

Lovely Shawls
13 November 2023

I enjoy making Caron Cake shawls with this yarn. It has a nice drape when knitted. I wish there were more color selections in this particular line. And because the skeins do not have exactly the same amount of yarn, I’ve come up short at the end and had to buy another skein. It works to weigh both skeins then start with the bigger one and start decreasing shortly before running out of that first skein.

Off Online Color
30 June 2024

The color it shows online is off. The yarn is a much darker shade of blue and green but the cacoon I made still came out beautiful. I was worried because I had this yarn color for years and ran out while making the project. I was hesitant to purchase more online due to the color difference in the photo but took a chance and it turned out the colors were exactly the same as they were several years ago so I am super happy with the purchase.

Pattern on label inaccurate
20 May 2023

I bought this for a simple project following the pattern on the label. So far I'm about two colours in and the scarf is nearly 40cm. According to the label I'm meant to go on until it measures 178cm. This is never gonna measure that much. From my math it'll be 120cm (being generous). For 17 AUD this is a lot to spend to buy another ball to finish the project. The label said it only uses one ball and it also has a fringe which there won't be enough wool for. I think I'll be undoing my work and returning the wool. It also had a join in it with threads loose.

Pay attention to the lot date numbers
31 January 2021

I recently started crocheting (after watching my aunt crochet for years) and I’m hooked. No pun intended. I bought 3 skeins of Red Velvet two weeks ago and I needed to pick up some more this past week. I noticed during my second trip that the light gray and dark red-ish colors from my first three skeins were beige/almond and bright red in the remaining Red Velvet skeins available in the store. Once I got home I checked the lot the lot numbers, and even though I expected that there could be differences in dye lots, the texture of the yarn was also different. The 2020 lot number skeins had the light gray color (which I liked), a MUCH better feel, and thicker weight while the 2019 (I somehow picked up a 2017 lot number too during my second trip) had the beige/almond ... MoreI recently started crocheting (after watching my aunt crochet for years) and I’m hooked. Another difference between the 2020 and 2019 lot numbers is the sequence of the colors. I’ll have to start half of my skeins from the outside instead of starting from the center pull. They reversed the sequence.

Rainbow Sprinkles to rainbow sprinkles!
9 February 2023

I always loved the Caron Cakes. They're a little different than they used to be. The dye is more vibrant, and the yarn a bit thicker. In a way, it helps it last just little bit longer or make a little bit more, but it's still so lovely, just as sweet and super colorful. Using mine, both new and old, to make rainbow sprinkles and accents for a cute jumperskirt and blouse and they make perfect compliments with the old one being like a pastel counterpart. The same hook size also gave me bigger sprinkles from the new version.

Random color ways
15 January 2023

The variegations are inconsistent from skein to skein, even missing some transitions of colors in some skeins. Different colors are different lengths from skein to skein. If what you want is something with very random color changes this is a nice feeling yarn and easy to work with. I ended up buying extra skeins and piecing together the colors for the effect I was looking for. I am happy with the project but effectively have 3 additional skeins worth of random colors that just didn’t work into the project…sort of a waste.
