I've made 4 items with this yarn: a blanket (one of my first knitting projects, which a frogged back into a the most amazingly draped shrug), a sweater (used smaller needles for a more sturdy weight garment) and most recently a 3/4 length hooded cape from a 1970's pattern book. I've used 4 different colorways, as well. This product gets 5 stars all day. To be fair, I haven't washed any item yet, so can't speak to that. But it's probably my leave costly yarn, I tend to go with hand dyed from small boutique yarn companies, but after 4 years of knitting, it might be the most pleasurable knit for me.

I love this yarn and have been buying in bulk and making things with it for years. 1st off, I do not recommend this yarn for baby blankets or items because the tiny hair like fibers will get in the baby's mouth as babies like to put everything in their mouth. As far as durability goes this yarn is pretty durable and can withstand many washings and drying as long as you dry on medium low - or delicate heat. Do not dry on the hottest setting because I've actually had 1 blanket melt in a commercial dryer before. Also VERY IMPORTANT, don't use dryer sheets! You might think it will make it softer and remove static cling but it ruin the softness and it leaves a wax like film that will stick all the little hairs together and you pull something out that looks like a mangy ... MoreI love this yarn and have been buying in bulk and making things with it for years. 1st off, I do not recommend this yarn for baby blankets or items because the tiny hair like fibers will get in the baby's mouth as babies like to put everything in their mouth. This yarn is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The softness and squishability of this yarn is out of this world. It crochets so smoothly and frogs just as easy. I would not classify this as a # 5 but more of a light #4 or heavy #3. I am currently making Cardigans out of this yarn and they have turned out absolutely stunning. The finished designs have looked so polished and high quality. I hope they make this in different colors especially solid colors you can't go wrong in purchasing this yarn.

I adore this yarn and use it for quick baby blankets. If I make a corner to corner knit blanket I can knit with one ball with increases then change to a second ball for decreases, and I pretty much don’t have to think about it or worry about sizing or if I have enough yarn. Perfect project to do for a last minute baby shower since it takes so little time and energy. The fluffy yarn begs to be touched and the striping is always sweet and subtle. My only complaint is that it absolutely must be gentlly hand washed and flat dried or it felts and mats to the point of ruining the project. Difficult care for baby items isn’t ideal.
I know not everyone likes latte cakes, but I love them. Often one complaint I hear is that, there are no stitches that can be seen through the yarn haze. I have found a feta are amazing. Like, Herringbone HDC, an corner to in rows. Folks receiving items love them. It is machine wash and dry able, and does not shed…best of all..it is soft.
I Looooove Zesty! I initially thought it would have yellow mixed with blue, but it was actually Lime green mixed in with blue. That’s okay because it’s so beautiful, soft and fluffy. I’ve made a bucket hat, a bandana and a super cute scrunchie with this yarn. I can’t wait to get more. I think I’ll try the pink one next. Just love!
This particular brand of Caron yarn is my favorite to make infinity scarves and matching headbands. My customers love the soft feel of this yarn. I only wished they made it in more colors and that my store carried all the colors available. I would even love this yarn to be made in solid colors also. I would recommend anyone to use this yarn for scarves and used with a size 6 needle or J. Best for sizing. Throughly enjoyed this yarn and haven’t bought anything else in the past few months. Love it!
Quality and variety are words that come to mind when I think of Caron Cakes yarn. The same and more can be said of Michael's. Their stores are clean and well-stocked. They make sure my yarn favs are well organized and accessible. The employees are simply the very best! I live in a large 5-city area which includes upwards of 7 Michael's stores. I frequent them all and can say each store is consistent in putting their customers first. They will stop everything to help. Thank you, Michael's!!!
I really enjoy how soft the latte cake yarn is, and the extra texture that my projects have frays. I really only have 2 complaints when using this yarn: 1. some skeins have knots where the yarn has been joined together and it isn't in the correct color gradient pattern. 2. Some of the skeins are wound opposite of the other skeins, requiring you to work from the outer part of the cake in. Despite those critiques, I still love to use this yarn for baby blankets, sweaters/ponchos.
One of many reasons I appreciate Michael's is because they're the only company that carries "Caron Cakes" yarn. Nice quality and the company keeps a wide variety of weights and colors in constant stock. This goes for all of their yarn brands. Lastbut not least, Michael's employees are helpful, well-trained and friendly. Thank you, Michael's!!!
