Have loved this watch for the past 3 years and wore it everyday. Unfortunately, the wrist strap starting cracking and snapped in half the other day which is why I only give it 3 stars. Would've loved to wear it for many more years!

I have been using these wrist watches since 1989 as an everyday knock-around.The watch is multi-functional (Stop Watch, 24 hour military mode, alarm, night light), light weight, durable in all environments and water resistant. I rarely take it off.This watch would be great for a child's first wristwatch or for an high school or college student in need of a timer for atletic events or exams.The battery life lasts about 5 to 7 years.The only problem I experienced is the plastic wristband hardens out and splits after about three years.I have found a merchant on Amazon or E-bay that sells watchband replacements for a few dollars and Youtube video shows how to easily remove and replace the wristband.Works just like a Rolex without the $10,000 price tag and I don't ... Good looking watch. Keeps excellent time. A bit small, (complaint) I wish it were bigger. Strap is for a smaller wrist. Some may need a longer strap, (complaint). It's the "sporty" version of the Casio A168W. Alarm. Hourly chime. (59:99 minute chronograph). Not recommended for swimming. Rain/splashes OK. It looks good because of da BLUE and BLACK face. Casio watches are HIGH QUALITY and EXCELLENT VALUE!! My third Casio now. Highly recommend!!

It's water resistant, sturdy, so far has a long battery life (had it 1.5 years), strap is comfortable and good for wearing during workouts. Unlike other reviewers I've had no problems with the strap wearing out, although maybe that will happen with more time and use. I wear this watch to kayak, dragon boat, hike, camp, and go to the gym. I've been out in all weather, and it does get splashed a lot when paddling. Never had any problems. Great with qualifications. So simple to use and so inexpensive. I am an avid runner and cross trainer and need a timer to easily start and stop a watch face easy to read. I go through lots of watches and lose them so want something affordable. I've been using this watch for it seems 20 years and it's great for that. So easy to manipulate. Caution, it is barely water resistant. Some seem better than others with water and second, you can barely hear the alarm, very quiet if you need it for that. But for working out (when it's dry or the watch is covered by a jacket) it is pretty perfect.
I wore one of these for almost 8 years daily. Through mud,snow,gas,diesel etc. Beaten and smacked around it lasted very well. Through my HVAC career and as a industrial maintenance technician. Unfortunately one of the pins fell out and when I went to temporarily fix it the ear on the watch broke off. I cannot be bothered by it as it lasted a very long time. I will be buying another after work today to replace it.
I have owned one of these for more than 20 years. I wear it every day and use the alarm feature roughly once a week. The band breaks around every 5 years, and I replace it each time with a black leather strap, also available at WalMart for around $5. It makes it look slimmer and dressier and is more comfortable on my wrist than the plastic band that first came with the watch. The batteries also last about 5 years--longer than any watch I have ever owned. Every time I get tempted to buy a new or more expensive watch, I think about how well this one meets my needs, how long this one has lasted, how accurate it is, and how long the batteries last; and I forget about buying a new one.
This is a feature packed watch for the price. I especially like the "illuminator" feature. However, the resin watch band that came with it won't last very long. I had owned 3 Casio F-91W casual sport watches (the same watch as this one without the "illuminator") with the exact same band before I purchased this watch. The bands on all three ended up breaking at various points anywhere from 1.5 to 3 years. Usually, it was cheaper to buy a new watch than to buy a new band. I couldn't find any bands that I liked that got good ratings, or a decent band was too expensive, sometimes 4 or 5 times or more the cost of the watch.
I have been using this model for many years as it has all the needed features and is inexpensive. But I have to get a new one every two or three years. Twice now one has simply ceased to function within 30 seconds of submersion in a pool and hot tub. Fine for rain and showers, but not always resistant to a quick submersion. Also, on my second last watch, all four watch strap posts cracked and one finally just fell off. That happened before too. So it isn't all that rugged, although it is fine for normal wear. Need caution when doing pushups, cross-country ski poling or anything similar that might put a strain on the straps.

They can take a beating. The straps break over time but I replace them with better silicone straps. It was finally time to replace my current Casio for a new adventure so I picked up this model which looked almost identical to my current model. It was then I realised that it did not come with a 10 year battery and it was not water resistant to 100 meters. Beware this model is IP X1 "dripping water while in normal operating orientation" which means it cannot even handle IP X4 "Splashing Water"! I hope MEC will do basic research on the buying side and sell the correct model ...
