Casio was founded in Japan in 1946, and in 1957 the brand was introduced to the rest of the world based on their invention of the world's first electronic calculator. The technology behind the electronic calculator became the foundation for the digital watches of the future. Casio watches already saw the light of day in the 1980s, and up through the 90s Casio was established as the leading brand in the digital watch market. Casio's digital watches quickly became popular around the world.
