This is a great watch and good value for money. Unfortunately, I do not own a smart phone and so could not take proper advantage of all that the watch could offer. It was also a bit too complicated for me, something which I did not realise before I bought it. However, Watchshop, as usual do not have a problem refunding, so I was able to return it. Watchshop are the best outlet I know for watches and customer service. Would always recommend them!

Best negative display yet!

This watch not only has the best negative display I have ever seen but the hours and minutes are really big, very easy to see in poor light. Love the sun rise sun set times and moon age. Personally I don't need the fitness or tide functions, But wish you could advance the sun rise/set dates forward like you can on the Casio SGW-500H. Also the Day of the week needs to be on the top line next to the month and date, and there is no option to change the order to the European Date/Month format. The G-Shock Move app is not as good as the G-Shock Connected app and has reconnect problems. So to sum up - I like the watch but room for improvement.

When these are displayed on the “main” screen and subscreens for these particular functions it is a serviceable set up.I love the negative screen display, really clear and the backlight is great.Strap is secure, I’ve been out in rough seas and there is ample strap for my wrist even in a 5mm wetsuit.However….The supporting app is poor. Various functions take a long time to register and I have no idea why they wouldn’t be instantThere are tons of functions that I don’t know what they are and aren’t intuitive to use so they just clog up the innumerable screens that the watch presents.As far as I can see you can only load one tide location to the watch at a time, so if you are hopping around eg north/south coast England you have to update your watch with new locations from your phone, so basically you may as well just use a tide app on your phone.This sums up the watch - the watch tries to do everything and in doing so does it all across a scale that ranges from: ok to bad. Your phone does EVERYTHING MUCH BETTER. Casio would have been better off focusing on delivering less functions but doing them better.The smart watch functions are weak, it’s difficult to see notification alerts on the screen and the buttons aren’t particularly comfortable to cycle through menus and messages. Small text means it’s difficult to read the messages.I leave mine in airplane mode and don’t bother with 99% of the functions.I would love it if Casio forgot about the “smart” functions and instead focused on a surfers / sailors watch that prioritised the bits you want to see when you are at sea or thinking about going to sea

GBX-100-1ER

Great to finally have a square G-shock with accurate tide info, moon data and sunrise/sunset on the same screen mode as time. Distance, speed and pace is accurate, steps are only slightly higher, calories lower. Good stopwatch and activity timer and workout countdown timer, an additional standard easy to set countdown timer is the only thing this watch is missing, but its not necessary. I don't use the notification function, so can't comment on that. App is okay. Good monthly activity log. Solar power would be nice but battery power is good, i find that solar watches tend to last about 15 years. If they did a low battery indicator that would be a nice touch. Overall a great watch and well worth the money.

GBX-100-1ER Bluetooth enabled G-Shock

Just received my new Bluetooth enabled G-Shock GBX-100-1ER. So far, I am loving the phone notifications with the vibrate function enabled. The main time display screen is very easy to read in any light, despite having a negative LED display. The resolution is good but the actual messages still require a bit of squinting to see. The watch itself looks awesome, like a G-Shock on steroids. Very comfortable and easy to use. The accompanying Move App seems to work well too. My only criticism would be that the training functions and the tide features are quite complicated and slightly confusing to set up. Other than that, if you’re looking for a Smart(ish) watch with the usual rugged attributes of a G-Shock, this will fit the bill perfectly. :)

Good but not perfect

The MIP display is really really good and it's a shame G-Shock haven't produced more of these. I assume based on the price they aren't that expensive to produce and I would love to have one that you can invert on demand.So here are the good and the bad of the watch IMO:Good:1. Display is great, love MIP and want to see more - sad the new 2023 Mudman isn't MIP I would have probably bought both display versions if they were and solar too.2. Band is very comfortable and soft albeit catch is a bit plasticy and would be nice if metal3. Overall look - probably marmite - but I really like it, very space age and technical looking - would be nice to customise it but there is a distinct lack of colour options (yellow strap would be cool)4. Displays you can toggle are great. I can easily toggle between the sunrise/set and moon and the standard time which are the main functionality I use here along with occasional tide levels which again easy to toggle with a couple of presses.7. Vibration alarm is great really nice function and would be good as a standard as I miss this on other watches.Bad:1. The watch does have a lot of functionality and some which I would like to turn off but can't for all. I never use activity tracking (and is annoying when you accidentally start it) or notifications (albeit I can turn these off). There is also a lot of life log stuff which I don't quite get or use and would be nice to just set it up with the stuff I want (Gravitymaster does this well).2. Bluetooth I don't quite get the move app is not as good as the other apps (even the discontinued one) and does take a bit of getting used to. I only really want to use the bluetooth app to update time and or any tide data etc but it seems to be almost always connected which for a non solar watch isn't great but also I don't seem to be able to do any GPS stuff. I really like the option on the other watches I have where you can press a button and it connects to the app but also logs the GPS coords - why would that be missing? I can add the watch to the main app but it offers no functionality that I can see just a link to move app. Personally I would like to ditch the move app for the other app so all my watches are in one place - G-Shock please offer the option?3. Battery - it says 2 years which is fine for this sort of watch but we will see.4. Auto light - so it has it but it times out and you have to then start it up again and holding down the light button doesn't do that which is really annoying. I really don't care if this decreases the battery life unless my battery level is so low - this really should be an option in that app (Auto-light on, on for 24 hours, off) but it isn't.5. MIP - so one issue with this is refresh - stopwatch doesn't have 100s of seconds. Albeit even if the display can't show it the watch could calculate and display after you stop, lap etc so no excuse there.6. Solar - if MIP is low power use, a solar version must be close? G-Shock?7. Step tracking not sure it is as reliable as my Gravitymaster - still testing but the activity display are very small and difficult to read unlike Gravitymaster so doesn't make this very useful unless you use the app.8. Light - so it's bright and works but its 2 LED lights it looks really cheap on watches now and I wish we could go back to EL light it looks better and was so much more uniform lighting of the display. Or make it so it isn't obvious that there are 2 bulb lighting up the display. It isn't as bad as some where you can actually see the bulbs and they aren't covered up which I have on a couple like that.Overall it is a very good watch which I will use a lot but with a few tweaks it could be great!

Great watch for anything

I've had this watch for about a year now. and it's great! the screen is easy to read in bright light as well as cloudy conditions. the buttons are easy to press with wet or dry hands. it has the typical g-shock toughness, ive banged it up pretty bad bw, bike wrecks and working in a warehouse with only a small scratch on the bezel. it works for work, sport, casual outings, and i even wore mine in my brother in laws wedding! the app is great and user intuitive, and compared to my polar watch the step counter appears to be spot on. the strap is comfortable.2 small improvements, this watch should be solar. I wish I didn't have to replace batteries on this( I haven't had to yet) and I think that to get to the notifications window it should take less than 5 button presses.

Not exactly what I expected but nice watch

I find it a bit big but not too uncomfortable to wear. The light makes it hard to see what the time is. There's not enough contrast between the background and the hands of the watch. Overall, it's a nice piece and the functions work good.

love my gbx200 TT

I love my two tone GBX100TT. Buttons feel solid. Strap is soft. The looks are honestly so much more gorgeous in person and goes perfect with my dad uniform of khaki shorts and a plain blue tee to match lol. Honestly a great purchase. Everything that the GBD200 has, plus the moon and tide features.You will love it foe your primary or collection
