I was alittle skeptical about this watch based on initial reviews but knowing G Shocks legendary status and reknowned for their groundbreaking watches plus having owned the watches since the year dot I decided to buy one of these new Rangemans. It wears super comfy on the wrist with extra eyelets for the buckle forks to go through for that comfy fit. The sensors on the back of the case don't dig into the wrist and the watch sits nice and firm. The resin strap is quite flexible and feels nice. Setting the watch up was no issue once I found the Casio watches app and with the help of a you tube tutorial paired the watch to my phone in a point and shoot exercise to complete the process in a couple of minutes. The MIP display is so much clearer and legible compared to the classic LCD display. The smartwatch Bluetooth capability is easy to get to grips to and also the mode function is different and takes a couple of minutes to figure out. The watch can function stand alone without phone pairing using the app but if you want to use the app and all the data and logs of your activities and fitness and monitoring then you can use the link and app to compliment the watch features as well. Overall the build quality is solid and rugged whilst not being too big. This watch is ony slightly bigger than the GW9400 2013 rangeman so is not as large as the 2018 version and is not that heavy either. This is the way forward for some of these G shocks, smart capability. A really solid tool gadget watch feature packed.

The look, feel, and overall design are great. Its functionality would give a Garmin or similar premium device a run for its money, especially since it is half the cost. The challenge is using Bio-Resin for the yellow band and the bezel, which will become discoloured within a few days of wear. I fully understand the need for sustainability, biodegradable, and eco-friendly requirements. However, using this resource requires tremendous thought for its application, including the environments that will impact its longevity.Casio understands this; however, I wonder if the engineers had to compromise on the composition. I comment based on other Casio devices I have in my collection. For example, the Gulfmaster GWN-1000-9A has a yellow bio-resin band and bezel, but it took ... I comment based on other Casio devices I have in my collection. For example, the Gulfmaster GWN-1000-9A has a yellow bio-resin band and bezel, but it took around a year before the band and bezel discoloured. The replacement costs for the band and bezel are questionable!I have read extensive manuals for both watches, and I am curious to know that Rangeman's manual contains several statements about Resin components and watch care. The wording is ambiguous, but it suggests that this material requires daily attention if worn 24/7.This is where expectations are misaligned between the public and Casio.Quote, 'The Casio G-Shock GPR-H1000-9A Rangeman is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and those who need a rugged, reliable timepiece. Here are some key features that make it suitable for its target audience:Durability and Toughness: The Rangeman GPR-H1000 is built to withstand harsh conditions. It features Casio's Mudmaster case technology, which makes it resistant to mud, dust, and impact. The stainless steel buttons are equipped with gasket fittings to prevent contaminants from getting in'.This statement is true, but notice Mudmaster case technology's wording and inclusion. I interpret that as meaning that only the device's mechanical components are built to withstand harsh conditions. On the flip side, the general public expects that the ENTIRE watch is designed to withstand harsh conditions. If that were true, Casio would put less detail into the watch's care instructions, especially highlighting several conditions under the Resin Components section—seven clear statements. Alas, one statement is missing. BIO-Resins are impacted by several other chemical compounds in the natural world. Some exist in the human body even, which, in theory, can indirectly impact Bio-Resins.Casio could develop a protective barrier to make the material resistant to colour fading. For example, using 303's Aerospace Protectant has worked well on my Gulfmaster. Could Casio develop a protective barrier? Food for thought, Casio.I've uploaded two photos of my watch; forgive their clarity. The second picture highlights the protruding areas where discolouration has already occurred.Best regardsNigel.

It looks smart, has plenty of features, but would be good if we could have navigation as per the GPR-B1000. (To make it a true successor). Also the option to have the barometric on the front screen along with the time. And have an option for the Heart rate to be only active when using for excise.if we have that then its going to be one of the best since the GPR-B1000zThe beautiful and stunning display (MIP LCD), wow 10/10.Has the normal good build quality as excepted from a master of g.

I absolutely love this watch ! It is my first G Shock and I’m mightily impressed! It looks great and has so many amazing features and functions! It’s super comfortable to wear and it’s a great tool for my fitness goals as well as so many other awesome capabilities. When you consider all the technology packed inside it and the app that complements its functionality I think it’s great value for money. If there was one suggestion I’d like to see changed is the length of time to illuminate it. Currently it’s limited to 5 seconds which I don’t think is long enough. Perhaps the team at g shock could release an update on the app to increase it to 10 seconds please! Then it would be absolutely perfect.
Look good, rugged and accurate. I love it. The night function is really useful and the activities are brilliant, if not a little slow to get a GPS signal. The buttons are recessed so that you don't accidentally press one and the way you can use four buttons is so many different ways is a great feature. The only downside is the brilliant yellow stains really quickly and with only a few weeks wear, it looks a bit tatty. I do quite like the look, but I really liked the brilliant yellow.
Pound for pound G Shock are the best value and toughest watches on the market. I’ve had a few over the years and they have had a hard life. They never fail and have served me well. Nothing else comes close if you need a tough, rugged watch. The new smart watch features are very good. The Casio watch app needs some work though. It’s not as slick as some of the competitors apps.
My GW-9400 is now second best.As a big fan of the 9400 I was worried the new Rangeman would be too much of a 'Smart Watch' - tied to your phone. I am happy to say that is not true. I use the watch and hardly ever go to the phone app.It is not too big. If you can wear the 9400, you can wear the new Rangeman without problem. It is really comfortable and has a soft wrist strap. The new features over the 9400 are welcome, such as the GPS and heart rate sensor. I go on bicycle rides now and track the journey. The only disadvantage compared to the GW-9400 is that, because it has more features, a few more button presses are required, although it is possible to re-order the functions to place the most used features at the front on the list.I am really pleased with the ... The MIPS display is wonderful, and the watch looks fantastic in black. This watch is my top recommendation.
The battery lasts for over a week. The display is clear and readable. One thing I have a little grief with is the alarms. It seems you can't choose vibration or sound only for them, and when they actually go off, they don't display anything. The smart alarm is a fantastic feature, but because I've got such bad sleep patterns, it's sometimes a bit confused. And I am missing the temperature measurement function from Mudmasters :-)
Very nice watch …functions are very goodI like the custom watch faceSome functions like trekking yet to be testedOne MASSIVE minus - very disappointed by the quality of the bio-resin strap. Wore watch under a new denim shirt and the dye transferred to the yellow bezel and strap surfaceSadly the dye is impossible to removeNot good quality which is expected from CASIO
Yellow strap started to discolour after 48 hours, seemingly avoiding wearing with long sleeves is recommended (not really in keeping with G-Shock ethos of toughness), exchanging for black model was an absolute shambles, took 10 plus emails and numerous phone calls to organise this, then took almost 2 full weeks for replacement to be sent out. One of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered. No issues with black model, watch is exceptional and functionality is perfect for those with an active lifestyle, had I opted for this version first I would have left a 5 star review however discolouring off original and exceedingly poor customer service is reflected in score
