Bought as a gift for a young man, as an introduction to watches as opposed to his mobile phone. I needed something sturdy and waterproof, that would not need a lot of care and attention on a daily basis. This watch appeared to fulfill this whilst looking modern. Fiddle factor was also something i wanted so the included features were also a factor.

I have had my new Casio G-Shock G-Steel GST-S100G-1A watch for about a week and really like it. Although bigger than I anticipated, it meets and exceeds all of my expectations. I was looking for a replacement of a 7 year old Casio G-Shock G-1500B-5AD watch that got damaged by a spinning winch handle under a 200 lb. load. Being a tough G-Steel watch, the old watch saved my wrist from serious injury. It still keeps excellent time, but has lost its water resistance and the top steel frame came off a few days ago. I was able to put it back on, but it will never be the same. What an endorsement for these Casio watches however. I've only had the watch for a day, and though you shouldn't judge anything in one sitting, I will. I've owned about four G-shocks in the last 20 years. All of them are great -- ALL. This one is similarly great. The buttons are great. It is solar powered, which is the number one feature I wanted. The strap is comfortable but like my last one (Giez), the strap broke in 7 years and again in 6 years, and since I could not find a replacement strap, I picked up this one. Backlight is excellent. So why a 4-star? I read (watched) another review and he noted that it was hard to see. I ignored it b/c I'm middle aged, and thought it wasn't a big deal. And well, it is kind of hard to read in the dark. The hands will glow and the backlight will provide enough light BUT by ... My second G shock. Absolutely bullet proof. I can swim in the sea and use a chainsaw without having to worry.They have sorted out (with Bluetooth) the absolutely dire way you had to use to change the date and time and alarms etc.
First class service from first class watches. 2nd watch I have purchased, the first for my sons 16th and now a top up present for his 21st. Gone with GShock both times due to their hard wearing quality and active life style my son has. The first is still going strong but wanted something different so went for G-Shock | G-Steel | Bluetooth | Chronograph | Blue | GST-B100G-2AER. After such a positive experience with the purchase of the GSTB200D though Rowland of first class watches I just had to come back again.The GSTB200D was the most beautifully, well engineered watch I had ever laid eyes on until now that is, when I held in my hand the GSTB100D!The watch screens luxury and tank tough at the same time. Being fully analogue it is similar and yet completely different to it's ana digital brother..Do I favour one over the other? Just purchase both..As expected the watch arrived in record time (5 days) in exceptional packaging. The service I received from Rowland was first class and was the main reason for me coming back for more so early on in the piece...Thanks again fellas... A job well done indeed!Now for what G to buy next.....
Great watch. Solar powered with 6 month battery life with full charge. Multi band six so picks up atomic signal from Colorado to set the time. Backlight is amazing on this model -- it is blue in color and lights up the back portion of the dial and the main white ticks at one, three, five, seven, nine and eleven. This also lights up the hands of the watch with very bright green edges on the hands. The hands also glow in the dark along with small ticks at each of the numbers on the dial. G-Shock protection, water resistant to 200M and mud resist. Black case with gray band. Very heavy duty. Hourly chime, 5 alarms, world time, stopwatch and timer. Super cool watch. MSRP from Casio tag is $300.00 USD.
I already owned the Silver stainless edition of this and actually did not know they made this in black till I was walking by the glass of a retail store. I would have purchased then, however, they only had the display. This casio G-Shock watch is very stylish in the black Ion plated stainless steel with the carbon style face. Resin band is very sturdy and blends well with the overall style. The solar power will allow for years of use without needing to change the battery. 200 Meter water resistance will allow you to not have to worry about getting wet when engaging in any water activities. Excellent work casio, and this price made the decision to purchase that much easier.
