I've had one Casio watch before and felt it was too "nice" for daily use. Yes, a $20 watch felt too nice for me. So, I wanted a more "basic" watch and this was perfect. A bit bulky compared to my other but I like it. The display is like a privacy screen where you have to be looking directly at it to see the time which I like. Also, the band doesn't leave any tight red marks from wearing all day.

Works great, nice features, all I need. These inexpensive watches are fine, the crystal/face of the watch scratches easy but also polishes out easy. The 10 yr battery out lives the band and the band is usually the first thing to wear out, so you can replace the watch cheaper than the band and just get a new one. I'd consider buy a more modern watch with a better crystal, but I hate the great, big watches they insist on manufacturing today because they want to sell you a style. I HATE big watches, fine for others, never for me. I'll keep buying this watch.

The face display is too dark indoors despite various lighting levels. The lifespan of the backlight is too short to be of any help because navigating its features take longer than the few seconds you are given before it turns off. Counterproductive. Returned this the next day. Purchased a different one elsewhere in the same price point with more features and doesn't have this problem.

I've had one Casio watch before and felt it was too "nice" for daily use. Yes, a $20 watch felt too nice for me. So, I wanted a more "basic" watch and this was perfect. Great throwback item and with such an attractive price, I couldn't wait on it any longer. I loved these watches as a kid in the 80's. So now I got this to relive some of my youth. Fairly simple enough to set the time and date (the date order is not in the M/D/Y format, but is Y/M/D when setting it up). Casio makes fun watches. This is my kind of smart watch.
Love this watch because it has a countdown timer. That is a rare thing in a watch, but MUCH more useful than a stopwatch. It is good looking, fairly easy to read, and the buttons are large enough that it is fairly easy to set. My only complaint, which is echoed by others on the internet, is that the watchband breaks after about 2 years. It is a nice watchband, comfortable, but whatever plastic it is made of gets brittle and breaks where you bend it to buckle it. So it made me laugh to see the "10 year battery" on package. Yeah, 10-year battery, but 2-year watchband! But the watch is inexpensive enough that I have just bought a new watch when the band breaks. I have done that twice now!

There are plenty of replacement bands out there that can be had fairly inexpensively, whether you choose something leather, resin, canvas, nylon, NATO, ZULU or whatever, there are no shortage of bands you can put on this watch. That means I can get my hand into circuit boards without shorting anything out and blowing it all to hell. Even the band and latch is rubber or plastic. Only the non exposed back is stainless steel. Only problem I have is the short life of the rubber band, usually only a year and it falls off, not a problem as I always have a new watch on hand. WalMart sometimes stocks this model but not always, so I usually order a new one as soon as the band goes bad. I've never had to replace a battery, always outlasts the watch. I am a long time use of Casio watches but I always bought the light background with dark gray letters and numbers. I saw this one and got curious. I did not use it because the background and letter/digit contrast is poor, hard to read which defeats the purpose of using a digital watch. Do not misunderstand, the quality and design is the Casio best but reading is difficult. I wear all black dress on my assignments and would love to see improvement in this Casio watch because it matches my dress. Hope Casio representatives will read my comments and forward to the development team.
I tried this "blackout" version to see the time in the dark. My previous "Illuminator" watch was too bright and created too much glare to see when I wake up in the middle of night. This watch is OK for that. But the back-light only lights up one corner and the other three corners are very dim. This watch is difficult to see in daylight and indoor lighting. It does help if you are directly above it. The numbers appear nothing like they do in the picture. The contrast is not as sharp, especially with the smaller numbers. I love Casio watches, but I do NOT recommend the "Blackout" version.
It is a nice watch. It came packaged good. It does everything it says. I wasn't sure about buying it with some of the reviews saying it was too dark. They were right. You can see it better outside and in bright lights but in low light, its hard to see. The backlight was not very bright. But overall, It's a nice watch, nice size, but the other reviews were right, it can be hard to see.
