Castelli Aria Jacket Green L Man

(140 reviews)

The nearly weightless Castelli Aria Shell Jacket is a must for windy days. The windproof woven microfiber front blocks wind while the porous mesh side and shoulder panels keep you from overheating. In the Aria Jacket you stay dry and warm; yet as your body heats up, the circulating air will keep you at a healthy body temperature. The same breathable mesh on the sides and back of sleeves has enough of a stretch so the jacket fits like a second skin; wind won’t cause the jacket to flop around. The close to body design also eliminates cold air from seeping into the jacket. The collared neck and elastic at waist and wrists also seal out cold wind. The Aria Shell jacket keeps a cyclist warm in cool fall and spring weather. The one rear pocket is large enough to store GUs, bars or even an extra water bottle. The jacket is so compact that it can be easily folded into a small square and stored in your rear jersey pocket.

Excellent quality

As expected from castelli the quality of the jacket was excellent, recently worn over a thermal jersey on a cold drizzly day. Windproofing was spot on and although not waterproof it certainly repelled the worst of the drizzle and spray. As with all castelli tops you would need to size up.

Great little jacket

A little more expensive than other similar products but it's worth it! Surprisingly warm and so small you won't even notice it in your back jersey pocket! Tight fitting but not stretchy so make sure you get the right size. Only complaint is it makes a fluttering sound around the shoulders at high speed.

High quality, light jacket

Got this to to replace a bulkier, less breathable jacket. The Aria is small, package, and light. The fit is the usual Castelli tight, so choose wisely. It's breathable and the seams and zippers are of great quality.

Just perfect!
16 July 2022

I have been buying more and more Castelli products lately and not disappointed with the performance and quality. Once you find the proper sizing strategy, then you can usual figure out how to size up. I’m 155lbs, 9’9”, 31” waist 41” chest, and definitely go with a L in men’s Castelli tops, (even purchased an XL in one of their specialty race tops, still fits fine). This jacket keeps the wind perfectly blocked while giving enough airflow to not get too sweaty. Great construction of zipper and seams and it can be stuffed into my fairly small bike pouch as it is super compactable.

Light & compact

When you need that extra warmth, this very light extra layer is pefect. After a long hot day in summer clothing, the weather clouded over and I had a long downhill to get home - the Aria shell was easy to slip on & just the right amount of extra insulation. The fabric is also very soft and comfortable to the touch.

Nice Layering Jacket
8 April 2021

I purchased this jacked as my wife has the women's version and I needed a lighter weight jacket for milder months. On the whole it is a great jacket, but do bear in mind its a not a full wind blocker and/or waterproof. It is a thin layer that I find best to use riding back from cafe after a ride or for first hour on a colder spring morning.I order XXL and am 42 inch chest and the fit is perfect. The jacket does fold up on itself into one of its pockets - this is quite a cool feature and makes it easy to pack away in your back pockets when riding.

Nice looking but very fragile

The jackets looks gorgeous and it truly protects you against the wind. It's generally comfortable to wear although it might fit a bit tighter than other brands and I suggest buying a size more. Mine broke after six months. It got unsewn in a couple of different spots that surprisingly don't have tension at all (forearm and bottom part of the back). I wouldn't recommend given the durability

Size up
16 August 2021

I gave this 3 stars because I didn't ride test it. I usually take a small and sometimes medium size in Rapha or Assos kit. For Castelli I need a medium or Large. In this case the sleeves were too narrow for me in the medium, and the large was a race fit - no place for a long sleeve jersey. I have medium built arms at best.

Well designed

The fabrics work well together. The windproof material doesn't breathe (you can't push your breath through it), but the mesh sections vent excess heat and moisture well. Riding in 55-65 F with combination of sun and shade, I was able to keep the jacket on till I started climbing above 65, while wearing a light long-sleeve jersey with no baselayer. The zipper is excellent. Despite the gossamer construction the zipper doesn't snag. Unfortunately, it's not a double zipper, and there are no pockets or flaps to access jersey pockets.Tailoring is a little off. Medium Castelli tops fit me snugly, and this fit as expected across the chest and shoulders, and was good on the arms. Medium Castelli tops fit me snugly, and this fit as expected across the chest and shoulders, and was good on the arms. But wearing a light long-sleeve jersey will cause the crease of the elbow to be tight. Not enough to cut off circulation, but enough to be a little concerned about popping a seam. Less an issue with a short-sleeve jersey.Castelli tops are always a little long in the torso for me, and this jacket even more so. I have to fold the front over so there isn't a large pouch of excess fabric at the belly. For rides in a somewhat narrow temperature range, I think this jacket is better than a comparable vest and/or arm warmers. Packs extremely small and light.
