Medium come up a bit small .. this may be fine for you if you are a very slim medium person. I find the straps over the shoulder start making things a bit tight after an hour or so. So if you are an average medium build (I am 5 foot 7 and 72kg), I would advise to go up a size and buy large. Quality seems good here, the cushion is alright but will not work miracles. Get a comfortable saddle for best comfort on long rides. Full price is quite expensive but this is pretty much the Lamborghini of cycling shorts.

Best of the best!!

These are far and away the best bibs I've ever ridden, I now have 2 pairs. I love the high compression, the chamois feels great for the longest rides (4+hrs for me) I love the slightly soft almost fleecy inner surface.I have used several brand's throughout the years, these are the best of the best. They do run smallish (I'm a L in most shorts, but XL is plenty snug in Castelli)

Decent price on sale but very poor quality

I have always worn Free Aero shorts (over 8 years) and these are the worst pair I have ever had.The stitching on the inner seam at the bottom of the short tore my thighs to the point of bleeding when out on a long ride. To stop this happening each time I was out I would have to cover the contact point with kinesiology tape. Then after about 2/3 months of wear they burst on the inner leg by the pad.I have since bought a pair of Assos Equipe RS shorts and the difference is unbelievable.Sad to see the quality drop like this at Castelli. It’s a brand I have been loyal to for a long time.

Good but not as good as the old model
28 January 2023

The previous aero race are easily the best shorts around. Not sure why Castelli have changed the perfect design. The fit on these is not as good. I am 187 and 78kg and the XL is (lvery tight over the shoulders. Note that I am a L in the previous model. Remains better than other brands but not as good as the old design.

Great pad, well-made, order LARGER
12 August 2022

Experienced recreational rider here, a fan of Castelli bibs and thicker compressive material.I’m only 5’6” (now), 155, with wide shoulders so I always buy the Lrg. of Castelli or Giordana, but these (Lrg.) seemed very tight on the thigh and the straps seemed like they might be too short and cut into shoulders. Not easy to put on (grab the yoke in the back and pull up).I gave them a quick trial and the straps were no problem and the pad is great as usual, and after about 100 mi. I’m very happy with my purchase. The legs are longer than most and the seam is completely unfinished, no color or other detail, and with no leg gripping material.Recommended for the fitter, slimmer rider.Hand wash, and not necessarily after every tide, hang them up to dry. Great value for high quality bib short
19 September 2022

These are a high quality bib short and a very reasonable price point compared to other high end bib shorts on the market. They are comfortable and the pad seems excellent. I will say you need to upsize on these. I normally take S or M in Castelli bibs and M was extremely tight on me so upsized to L. Recommend you go up at least one size.

Solid Bib Shorts.
20 July 2022

The Castelli Free Aero RC have become one of my go-to bib short choices. Very lightweight and comfortable given the limited seams. Excellent (relatively thick) chamois. I was hesitant about the lack of leg grippers, but the shorts don’t ride even after multiple hours in the saddle. I especially like the slightly longer cut, where the legs sit just above my knee. As with all Castelli products, size up! I’m 6’4 and 181lbs, and the size Large are a great aero fit. 10/10 would recommend…so good I bought a second pair!

Usual great Castelli quality
24 March 2023

I always wear these shorts. For me the comfort and durability warrant the price. I have pairs that are a few years old now that I use for indoor training and they’re still comfortable.Im 178cm and 80kg so the large fits me snugly (I don’t like baggy)Buy cheap buy twice is my motto and these are the best shorts you can buy in my opinion

Very comfortable
10 October 2022

I cycle a lot and have suffered a saddle sore for ages just under the crease of my buttock. I tried balm but to no avail. I decided to try these shorts and they have made my riding much more comfortable. They eliminate chafing and do not apply any pressure to the area where the sore located. I do not need to use balm and that is going to save me money as I was using by the dollop load.

super light bibs
10 August 2023

very comfortable bibs, most certainly the lightest Ive worn. I think the longest ride Ive done in these so far is 35 miles and they felt very supportive, much longer rides Id probably use my endurance bibs. At 5'8" and 140lbs the medium fits perfect for me, the bibs feel supper thin so not sure how long they will last
