The foray into space, sometime near the year 2700 A.D. Compete for the prestigious post of Ambassador to the Galactic Council. To attain this lofty position, players must leave Terra and the known planets to explore and colonize the galaxy, while working to establish trade with alien cultures, encounter aliens, and defeat pirates. Glory and victory go to the brave and astute explorer upon whom luck smiles. The known worlds lie at one end of the game board, where each of the 3 or 4 players begins from known solar systems, each with 3 planets producing raw materials needed for the travels into deep space. Each player begins with 2 Colonies and a Space Port all components are made from plastic. The Space Port makes starships to transport your new colonies and trade posts to distant lands. Throughout the game, all the colonies and spaceports enable the production of resources when the dice match the numbers of adjacent planets. Beware as you explore some planets are covered in ice, and some conceal dangerous pirates. Belongs to the Catan Series.

I really enjoyed Starfarers. I have played every official expansion, variant, and scenario in the Catan portfolio. This one is a fun, unique implementation. It does not, however, bring much of anything new to the table. Instead, it is a creative and fun repackaging and bundling of various Catan mechanics that you can find in other Catan games. It borrows most heavily from Explorers & Pirates. But I actually enjoyed the familiarity, as it was still a unique combination of mechanics, a creative visual and physical experience, and the more familiar you are with the Catan portfolio, the quicker it is to learn. Definitely worth having on the shelf if you are a Catan lover.
Starfarers of Catan is a great game. It has all of the aspects that make the Catan series a fan favorite, with a few add-ones to add flair. We loved the rocket ships, miniature models and especially the encounter scenarios. Now I am looking to add the 5-6 player expansion.

If like me you are not a fan of CATAN then don't worry... this is not like CATAN... This game is more like a 4x space game with just the badge of CATAN. Great components and a good solid game! I enjoyed a lot!
Great game!
This is different enough from the base Catan, that it is no longer a euro game. There is more direct conflict between players.
