I have had my Cavius alarms for 5 years and yesterday one began to chirp then went off.I have this morning I contacted the company, they are very helpful and as a result my problem has been resolved. I also have some advice on how to maintain the alarm by vacuuming the metal mesh to clean any dust particles out of the unit.Before bagging the alarm and throwing the alarm in the bin, contact the manufacturer. Personally I am satisfied that Cavius the smoke alarm and Cavius the company live up to their guarantee

The smoke alarm has a test button, but this doesn't do anything unless the little red switch thing at the back is pushed in. However, it doesn't lock into either of the plastic containment cases included.It is loose in both, and because of this the red button isn't pressed in and the test function won't work. Plus it just sits loosely in there and can fall out.Very disappointed in a product with such a high rating,I then tried it with a real fire and smoke and it did nothing, seems the red button has to be depressed for it to work, and it doesn't get depressed in the base/case.Very aggravating, it's a time-sensitive thing that you need replaced fast.

We bought 3. They're easy to install. They look good. They're able to be tested or silenced from the ground using a broom stick. There have been no false alarms so far. We also have three of their older model and they're never given us any trouble either.
We bought this pretty expensive alarm and shortly after fitting it activated. We have tried cleaning and refitting it and it still activates after a few minutes. Tried to return it to Miter 10 but so many have been returned that they now don’t replace it but tell you to contact Cavius. Clearly its a defective product.
Bought 2 and half years ago does not like cold weather three times now it beeps continuously from 3 am until sorted needs tlc then lasts another year , still looks good . Read instructions carefully works well after .
It has a nice slick, minimalist look and is decently loud, but one of ours started incorrectly beeping last night which I took as a sign the battery may be dying. They are only 3 or 4 years old. It is also an awful, non environmental design choice to make the whole thing defunct when the battery dies.
OK, they're expensive (so I stocked up on them when Mitre10 had them at half price) but they really do last 10 yrs plus v's the other cheaper makes that seem to pack up after one! A few extra dollars for peace of mind...
Batteries have started dying after 5 years. They are not replaceable - you need to throw away the whole unit. Total junk.
I've had one of these last 1 year - a mere 9 years less than I expected. The rest are doing well so far though. However, they look good and not having to muck about replacing the batteries for 10 years is worthy of the extra cost.
